  1. I'm more than a bit surprised that he doesn't already have some big commercial endorsement deals. Certainly better than Baker Mayfield and he'd be an ideal choice to scoop up whatever Deshaun Watson used to have. Plus his persona is conducive to lots of creative advertising.
  2. Bills trade way back in 2nd round (bottom 1/3 of round) and pick up another 3rd, plus 4th. They package the 4th with their 5ths to move up to 3rd round. So they end up with 2 seconds and 2 thirds
  3. np.... as you're probably still tooling around the site and with just a few days before the draft. Here is Dana Brugler's complete NFL draft guide ranking every player available and then some. This alone makes the subscription worth it! https://theathletic.com/2499821/2021/04/18/2021-nfl-draft-guide-636-prospects-ranked-415-scouting-reports-from-dane-brugler-the-beast-is-here/
  4. Its absolutely worth it. Its the only subscription of any kind that I pay for. The Bills writers Joe Buscaglia and Matt Fairburn do so many great stories and analysis. Then John Vogl focuses on Sabres. He's got tough assignment. Also Tim Graham simply paints on a broader canvas. He'll do Bills/Sabres stories, but also stretches to general Buffalo sports stories that are totally captivating. Buscaglia focuses heavily on analysis; post-game, draft, roster and such. Fairburn does Bills analysis, but also these kinds of great stories. One of the best ones he did was a feature on Ike Boettger. It was mid-season, right after the Seahawks games, where the team just dominated. The personal interest story seemed initially weird on the heels of that game, but he really brought it together well tying it to the game as it coincided w/ Boettger's first start. Reaching beyond the Bills/Sabres, Graham did an outstanding story on ex-wrestler Lex Luger who went to Orchard Park HS and has fallen on some very hard times. He also did a great story on Stevie Johnson. All of its worth the $!
  5. An outstanding pass rusher. The Super Bowl reinforced to me how critical that is as the Bucs swarmed Mahomes continually. Our pass rush has been weak in big games. Not sure if Epenesa is one of those guys yet and the other two are well into their '30s. Beane has shown that he can buy competent CB, WR, OL help if necessary, but finding great pass rush outside the draft is very tough. That's what we need to get to next level...
  6. I was waiting to see if Sanders plays the veteran card on that one??
  7. FWIW, my son is a 10+ year Panther fan and here's his take on Obada...
  8. At some point there's going to have to be a pool on who the last Panther is that we'll sign who was still there when McBeane were. We've got to be getting close?!?
  9. we definitely need that!
  10. Honestly,... I don't think he's "under the radar". He'll cost plenty
  11. With Ullmark out, Tre White needs to bring his goaltending skills to the ice and Allen may have become our first-line Center... sorry Jack
  12. That's probably too hard to predict from #30. Given that they are transitioning to a point where our good players need to be re-signed, there will be a need to balance that out with cheaper talent. I'd like to see us trade back if they can pick up an extra #3 or something like that. However, Beane tends to get excited about players that he's targeting and has typically been more aggressive to trade up. I imagine that the cost will prevent him from doing so and he'll stay disciplined and pick someone at #30.
  13. We still keep Josh, right?!?
  14. I'd love to see some comparative analysis by Cover1 or JoeB/MattF at The Athletic, but one of the things jumping out at me is what a difference pass rush makes. People can talk about Allen and Brady all they want, but the relentless effectiveness of Tampa's pass rushing was the MVP of the Super Bowl and the lack of it made the AFC Championship game so frustrating. That's where our drafting needs to focus...
  15. There really shouldn't be anything illegal about this. The ONLY thing the Saints are accomplishing is to avoid Brees' retirement before the start of the league year, at which point all teams have to be in compliance of the salary cap. He's only reducing salary that he wasn't going to earn anyhow. I would imagine other teams have done versions of this move.
  16. Retirement is essentially the same from cap perspective as cutting someone. If they had a big contract with a big bonus with a number of years left on it and retire, the team takes a dead cap hit on the remainder same as if they had cut the person. Eric Wood was a good example that was cited. His retirement was unexpected due to medical condition and the Bills had just resigned him to a multi-year contract the year before. As I look at the Brees story, he dropped his 2021 base salary to the league min, which lowers his cap hit for next year. This means the Saints can leave him on the roster past the start of the league year and stay under the cap (with other moves). They can then have him retire after June 1 (similar to other June 1 cuts that teams declare) and move the dead cap hit into the next year (2022) rather than have to deal with it this year, when the cap is constricted. Brees obviously wouldn't care whether his 2021 salary is $20m or the league minimum as he's planning to retire I could be wrong, but I want to say that the Bills did something similar w/ Eric Wood. They didn't reduce his next year's salary, but held off the retirement announcement until they could use the June 1 rule to move the dead cap into following year.
  17. And the rookie QB ended the season with a dominant AFC Player-of-the-week performance that left everyone on a high that "maybe" we finally found our QB?!?
  18. How does being instrumental in the development of Nate Peterman and passing game coordinator for the #1 rushing offense land you a job as a Head Coach w/ an NFL team? #WatsonOUT
  19. I'll add to this further by stating that I can no longer watch football without Twitter as a companion guide to produce the ultimate fan experience!!
  20. I don't even remember what # he was??
  21. I think we have to redefine "The Josh Allen Experience" from this point on.....
