9 is too early for either, but I am much more confident in Hockenson to become a solid player. Metcalf is has a good chance to be this year's Josh Doctson first round flameout.

Little talked about option for Bills at 9: Brian Burns
947 replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching Burns in his FSU highlights, he looks way too skinny to play 4-3 DE. I hate to say it, but he is built like Maybin was at Notre Dame- who ironically also played at 230lbs & bulked up to almost 250 for the combine. I know Burns is a much more complete player than Maybin could ever dream of being, but the body comparisons are close. -
How can we not be all in on Metcalf now?
947 replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
After all the "Combine Heros" who have burned GMs over the past 25 years, you'd think this stuff wouldn't happen. Metcalf's 40-time in shorts, bench press, and muscularity isn't the same as ability to run routes, catch contested balls, and producing like a WR1 on the field. He may look, run, & jump like Julio Jones- but that isn't enough to make him a star in the NFL. I'm VERY concerned about his agility numbers. Sure, he may end up a really good player in time. But he is an extremely raw prospect at this point, and can basically only run fly patterns. I want no part of him the first round, and I hope he's somebody else's mistake. -
Carolina WR Devin Funchess unlikely to be extended
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Funchess is "just a guy", he doesn't have the ability to separate, and is not particularly good at catching contested balls. I wouldn't be suprised if Duke Williams has a better NFL career than him. That said, I'd rather we spend 1.9M/year on a JAG like Funchess than 10M+/year for another JAG in Tyrell Williams. -
Speculation on Golic and Wingo that Rosen could be traded
947 replied to buffaloboyinATL's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no way Rosen is worth anything more than a mid-2nd to anybody. Seeing him play in the NFL lowered his stock significantly. -
Calling it now: Zay Jones will not be on the week 1 roster.
947 replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the rookie we draft is DK Metcalf, there's no way he's ready to start in year 1. That guy is as raw of a first round WR prospect I've ever seen. He makes Zay's route running look polished. Zay will probably still be our Slot WR in 2019. -
Kyler Murray spending most of today on the immersion table, hoping to stretch an extra half inch to measure 5'9'...

Matt Parrino (article) - 10 potential outcomes for Bills at No. 9
947 replied to PIZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Metcalf is a much better athlete than he is a WR. I don't want to spend a first rounder on a guy who can only run a partial route tree, just because he's fast & jacked. His game film is pretty "meh". -
Report: Bengals looking to trade WR John Ross
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The dude has 21 catches on 60 targets in his NFL career. There's no way the bengals get higher than a late 4th. Another cautionary tale about why game film matters a lot more than Combine numbers. I'd be ok with trading a low pick for him, but his skillset is awfully similar to Foster. -
I'd be cool with a 1yr reasonable deal. Crabtree isn't a stud anymore, but a vet presence would really help Zay, Foster, & a rookie WR. Not to mention our young QB.

I actually strained a muscle in my ribs shouting obscenities when the Allen pick was announced. I was dead wrong, I just ordered a Josh Allen jersey this week. I couldn't be more excited about his future as a Bill, and wouldn't trade him for any other QB from the 2018 draft. I got used to seeing draft picks looking disappointed upon being drafted by Buffalo, it was awesome to see a guy that happy about it.

Report: Bills interested in UFA TE Jesse James
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My thoughts exactly. He looks like a nice target with good hands, but runs like he's wearing ankle weights. Every highlight, a DB catches up to him like he's standing still & then he goes down on first contact. Jesse James is better than any TE we have, but he wouldn't have much more impact for us than the 2018 version of Clay. I'd rather gamble on the upside of Eifert or Maxx Williams. -
According to the New York Daily News' Manish Mehta, "word on the street" is Le'Veon Bell ballooned to 260 pounds during his year away from football. Bell's listed playing weight is 225. Bell had some body composition issues as a rookie but totally morphed himself ahead of Year 2 and has had no conditioning worries ever since. However, taking a year away from the game, partying in Miami, and not having to practice likely didn't do him any good. Odds are Bell has slimmed back down by now as he looks for a monster payday in free agency, but he's got some buyer beware marks against him. Bell is said to be looking for $48 million over the first three years of any contract he signs this offseason. SOURCE: New York Daily News Feb 20, 2019, 2:47 PM

Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal
947 replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anybody still complaining about this signing needs to watch his Jets highlight video that somebody posted earlier in this thread. In what was supposedly "a terrible season that got him cast off the Jets", he sure put together some nice tape. Of course it only shows the good plays, but it looks a lot better than any highlight plays from Ducasse, Miller, or Teller. He really moves well. Now he did look much better at Guard than Center, but the guy can play. I see him starting at OG for us and having a solid season, I think we get a Center somewhere else. -
Clay's last TD was in Week 3 of 2017. Think about that... I won't be surpised if that was his last TD in the NFL. He was once a good player, but those days are long over.

Inside Info (somewhat) - Kyler Murray
947 replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a pic of Murray with Antonio Brown & Hollywood Brown, who are both listed at 5'10". Murray is definitely shorter than both of them. If he measures 5'8", he'll lose some round 1 suitors. -
Who else will the Bills cut before Free Agency begins
947 replied to RPbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only way Murphy gets cut is if we draft DE in Round 1. He's a better player than he was able to show last year. I'll start worrying if Ducasse is still on the roster in another few weeks. -
What do you want to see this offseason: DRAFT
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In my mind, the player with the best chance of making multiple Pro Bowls, who will be available at #9, is Dalton Risner. The question becomes, is a RT or OG worth taking in the top-10. I'd much rather trade down & take him in the 12-15 range, but I'd hate to see him go on to have a HOF career for an AFC rival because we gambled on some "high ceiling" DT. -
Yep, Ebron was the last "Complete TE" draft prospect. He went #9 to the Lions, and in 4 years in Detroit became merely a marginal starter, despite being in a passing offense. He did literally nothing to justify being drafted in the first round, let alone top-10, and was run out of town. It seems like most 1st round TEs disappoint. I'd feel better drafting one in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Bills sign C Spencer Long to 3 year deal
947 replied to One Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, he looks a lot better than I expected. Moves really well. It's clear from these highlights that he's much better at Guard than Center, but either way, this guy is a major upgrade from Miller or Ducasse. I see this move is a contingency plan for if we don't land a top FA OL. The backup plan would probably be Bodine at Center & Long at Guard. -
Joe Marino/TDN Pre-Combine 7-round Bills mock draft
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love this... except trading up for AJ Brown. He'd certainly be there at #40, I think we could nab a much better WR than Brown at #33. -
Joe Marino/TDN Pre-Combine 7-round Bills mock draft
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be cool with this draft. Hadn't really looked at Isaac Nauta much until now, but he looks like a stud. Really underutlized in GA's passing game. -
Kyler Murray officially chooses Football over Baseball
947 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Murray has a pic on his instagram of him standing with Antonio Brown & Hollwood Brown, who are both listed at 5'10". Kyler is definitely 1-2 inches shorter than both of them. -
This is a fantastic quote. Even if DK absolutely tears up the Combine, it doesn't change the fact that he hasn't done much as a WR. Past Bills regimes would've definitely overlooked that. Let's hope McBean know what they're doing.
