  1. Maybe the Browns? Maybe they offered pick 19? This also could be non-sense coming from Chip to justify his trade.
  2. Older player (Will be 34 when the season ends) but is on a very reasonable contract and came into the league at 24 and didn't play much 3 out of his first 4 years in the league.
  3. I think plan B is to draft a guard in round 2. Seems like a lot of the better guards might fall to the mid second. I think they are more focused on getting Clay in the fold than upgrading O-line.
  4. I don't think Grubs would have been worth it but its just that without another option at guard it makes the second round pick more and more penciled in for a guard. I was hoping that the team could sign a guard and Clay to deals to that we are much more flexible in what we can do in the draft as opposed to drafting out of need.
  5. Its 48 hours into free agency the team is very active on Charles Clay and Percy Harvin. Still plenty of good players out there to be had. If the Bills sign Clay and grab a guard in round 2 that plays at a good level I think its pretty clear that the offense will have been upgraded. Let alone adding in Harvin and other players possibly.
  6. I would have preferred a third string backup with more starting experience but its a third string QB. Its not exactly a lot to choose from.
  7. I wish this Clay situation would just resolve its self. Either Clay signs the offer sheet and we move on or he signs one with Cleveland and we move on. Still plenty of players left on the market wish they could know if they have or don't have Clay so they could aggressively go after what's left.
  8. Currently in the league I would Say Alex Smith is the line. Smith is the standard middle QB. Probably the 15th to 16th best QB in the league. If you have a QB that's better than him you have a pretty good one. If you have one that's worse you better hope its a young QB who could develop. In the past I would say Chad Pennington after his first injury was the classic example.
  9. Next season the team does have to extend Dareus. So you have to take that into consideration. But I agree that this year should be the focus. There is plenty of fat on this roster that could be cut or restructured plus the cap is going to go up 10 million. I really wouldn't worry too much about next season or paying Dareus.
  10. The special Teams unit improved a lot last year and I think he had a lot to do with it. Another one of those signings that good teams do. In the past the team would have let these types of players go and let smaller positions like kicker and full back be filled with less than average players.
  11. Million dollar talent ten cent head. Just not worth it, sad since it wasn't injuries or lack of talent that derailed his career. The dude simply beat himself. Still young enough to try and make something good out of his career.
  12. I don't hate the Sammy trade now that I see the pick we gave up was only the 19th overall. Its basically pick 9 and 19 to go up to 4 with a 4th thrown in. But it was a risk a calculated risk but a risk. It seems to have paid off. Although I can't give the front office credit in knowing this would be a weak draft class when they made the trade. Almost impossible to project that in a football draft class.
  13. Spikes would be a really good player to retain if the price is right and he accepts his role. The run defense and physicality are a good dimension to bring.
  14. I will believe the Pats* are finished when I see it. That said both their starting corners and Wilfork are gone so on paper they are worse but you still have Tom Brady.
  15. Do you think this Bills defense is an All-Time great defense? I think it could be a really good best in the NFL defense but is it enough to carry the team through multiple playoff victories let alone playoffs? My best hope is the team fixes the O-line, adds some pieces to the offense (Like Clay), and finds an impact player in round 2 along with a mid-late round contributor. This team reminds me more of the 2009-10 Jets. Great defense, good running game, some pieces around a shaky QB. One can only hope the team continues to fix holes in free agency/the draft and EJ develops.
  16. The team isn't signing Revis and if they did the other signings wouldn't happen or only 1 other one would. I think the teams QB situation is obviously the Achilles heel. But your weakness is your weakness all you can do is build up the rest of the team. My ideal scenario would be to sign, Boiling, Clay, Harvin, and Wilfork. Granted I don't think Wilfork will sign and I don't think Harvin is necessary but would be nice. If you want to build a bully Wilfork would be a nice NT to have in the mix. Clay and Boiling fill holes on the offense (Harvin possibly adds another element). Then just go after the best talent in the draft.
  17. During the Donahue era the team was actually able to get free agents. Fletcher, Spikes, Sam Adams, Lawyer Milloy, even Troy Vincent (The issue was the less than stellar drafting, poor head coaches, and letting the teams own talent walk). Even before that Paup, Speilman, and Lofton were all big grabs. But it feels good to know that the Mario Williams deal wasn't some one off fluke that the team could really spend money if needed and isn't afraid to swing.
  18. I do think that the speed Harvin would bring along with his ability to run the ball out of different formations brings a good element to the offense. I wouldn't bring him in for any significant money but for a modest 3 million dollar a year offer it could add a lot to the offense. In the draft the team could find a big target.
  19. Harvin makes sense for Roman's offense. Very versatile and a vertical threat. Harvin, Clay, and a guard would round out the offense nicely. Could free up the draft pick to add depth to the defense.
  20. I have a feeling that Rex and the Bills are just trying to drive up the costs for Revis either the Pats* pony up more money or the Jets do. I think O-line and Clay would be more up Rex's alley.
  21. What the !@#$ are the Eagles doing? Edit: They got a second rounder which makes more sense. Maybe this is a sign they want to trade up.
  22. Very solid move if they don't over pay. Team needs a guard and he is one of the better ones out on the market.
  23. Solid move, if you want to run a power running offense you are going to need a beast full-back and that's exactly what Felton is. Its not going to be a earth shattering move but its a nice move that good teams do to have a more complete roster.
  24. In the NBA the contracts are guaranteed and the cap hit is the average of the contract years (So a 3 year 25 million dollar offer with 15 million in year 3 still counts against your cap as 8.3 million each year). I am not sure what the Bills could do to sabotage the Fins as if they don't match then the Bills could have a contract that doesn't fit with their cap plans.
  25. The Vikings ground game was inconsistent but decent at times last year as any fantasy player will tell you. That's to be expected with AP out, a bad O-line, and other injuries to the running back position. But I remember AP crediting Felton a lot after that 2000 yard season as being a huge factor in his success overall.
