  1. The Jets weren't a Jamal Adams away from competing in the next 2-3 seasons. Those picks and the cap relief of not having to sign Adams to a deal are of much more value to them. The Bills are a Tre White away from contending in the next 2-3 years. The secondary is heavily anchored by Tre and even if the Bills hauled in two first round picks and a second round pick along with a decent player for Tre it still would hold less value for the Bills over the next 2-3 years. Yes long term in a 4-7 year time frame could the Bills get more value out of 3 premium draft picks and the cap space from Tre? Arguably yes (Most player for picks trades usually look better long term for the team that gets the picks), but your window to contend in the NFL is short and losing your best defensive player almost no matter what the return hurts your team's ability to contend and sets you back from winning while you have as complete a team as possible. I also think the message you send to the team by trading away a leader almost certainly helps tank your season. Tre was literally the first player drafted by McD and he has been an All-Pro. You have to send a message to your team you are willing to take care of your own. Tre is also a super great guy who you feel comfortable handling a big contract and his play on the field more than justifies it. That's why the Diggs trade makes sense for the Bills given the window to win. The Bills might have been better served long term by having drafted a WR who would be in team control for 5 years with that pick and have some more sort term cap space. But Diggs makes an impact from day one and maximizes the team's window to win the next 2-3 seasons in a way a rookie most likely wouldn't have. Time tables matter. Even if Adams was as good as Tre on the field the Jets were better off trading him because they aren't going anywhere the next 2 years anyway. Adams no matter how good he was isn't the difference between the Jets contending and the Jets not contending. If you are at least a year or two away getting two first round picks and cap relief is insanely good for them at their point of rebuilding. The Bills on the other hand are a Tre White away from competing. The Bills need Tre to maximize a window to win in the next 2-3 seasons. Whereas had the Jets kept Adams they wouldn't see a window to really win with him until he was on a big contract in his late 20's.
  2. I don't get this obsession with moving Ford into guard without seeing what he has at RT first. I thought Ford's play actually did improve at RT when Ty got hurt later on. He was tragic early on but I thought by the end of the season was playing at a respectable level. The organization is going to let him have an offseason to learn and get back out there at RT. If he looks bad there this season kick him in. If not keep him out there.
  3. Seems reasonable for both sides.
  4. Weird reclamation projects at QB will almost always be a fixture at the QB position. After Flutie, Cunningham and Vinny in 1998 every few years there comes around a QB reclamation. As others have mentioned guys like Brad Johnson, Kurt Warner, Michael Vick, Bret Farve and Nick Foles have had later career revivals similar to those 1998 QB's. So will 3 happen in one season like in 1998? Possible but unlikely, however these revival stories are going to come around here and there.
  5. Possibly? I think Levi Wallace is a decent CB2 option and Norman is a reclamation project. So if Josh Norman busts they can plug in Levi Wallace and be fine.
  6. That could be possible. If that is the case then there isn't much you can do. I do like that the team was aggressive to get Winters after Feliciano's injury. But it would have been nice to keep Long through camp.
  7. I think so, I think he will be one of the top MLB's in the game. He was already playing at a top 5 level towards the back half of last season. I think he can put in a full season of top play at the position.
  8. One of the few moves this off-season McBeane has done that I don't like. Carry him through camp, with one O-line injury and this Covid situation Long would have been a nice depth piece.
  9. You can literally never have enough O-line depth. The attention to detail on this roster is the best I have ever seen as a fan. Winters is a starting caliber guard and in a season where depth is insanely needed. I love this move. Good to replace Feliciano short term.
  10. It is better to know you are going to have football in October than to just hope you are going to have it in September.
  11. The NFL needs to announce a delay to their season and come up with a bubble plan. Start the season in October and use the next two months to bubble up. Do 4 regional bubbles, 2 divisions in each bubble. You play your 6 divisional games and then 4 games against the other division. There is then a league wide bye week and you have 4 divisions travel to another bubble and play the final 4 games of the season. It seems like they need to find a way to avoid being in the same predicament as the MLB and they don't have a coherent vision.
  12. Bring him in for camp in 2021. He was signed on a vet minimum deal so literally it costs the team nothing to kick the tires one last time on a player that you know can fit the scheme. It also gives his body a year of rest maybe he can get healthy?
  13. Even if you wrote that off for some reason there is inherent risk to a lot of players getting the virus if we don't know the long term health consequences. We could be losing a lot of players down the line to possible heart and respiratory damage down the line. We really don't know what the long term impact of this virus is. I get people want to play the season and have football but the league needs to do a legitimate bubble plan because the MLB is proving there is no other way to do it. Do 4 regional bubbles, 8 teams in each bubble. You play 10 games in the bubble (6 against your division 4 against another division) you then swap to another bubble to play your final 4 games against a different division (thus only half the league needs to travel) and you get a 14 game season with 2 league wide bye weeks to help ease quarantine measures and provide a sort of reset twice.
  14. 76 Receptions, 1,123 yards, and 7 TD's.
  15. Look at nations in the EU, Asia and Canada, they reopened once they had sustained low positivity rates for a month like the science says and they aren't seeing a surge. The US lowered rates but then reopened in a disorganized fashion far sooner than the science said. "Herd Immunity" is a moronic strategy. Sweden the darling of that idea had only 10% of the population had anti bodies and you need 60% to reach herd immunity. They basically admitted their own failure. So no you don't have to just let it "blow through"
  16. It was an odd 2019 for Josh Allen. In his rookie year he looked very inaccurate on those short and intermediate throws. But he was very accurate on the longer throws. Then in 2019 he finds good accuracy on the short and mid-range throws but loses accuracy on the long range throws. I hope he finds his long range game and keeps tightening up the shorter and mid-range stuff. Because even if Josh could just get to his 2018 form on long range throws and stay the same on the short and mid-range game stuff he will likely have top 10 QB production.
  17. The college athletes mortality isn't the issue (for one serious long term respiratory and heart damage might occur from those who fully recover) it is the fact that they could spread it to the coaches and support staff and their families or other students. Unless the SEC can create some sort of bubble atmosphere i just don't see it working out. I think the NHL and NBA are proving that bubble environments are needed to avoid outbreaks.
  18. That is unfortunate, hopefully he heals up closer to two months. Considering the season could be delayed he might not be out that long if the season starts in October.
  19. Top 10 certainly top 5 likely but I think Hargrove was their best player last season and he will be missed a lot.
  20. The Steelers are going to miss Hargrove a lot not sure I would rank them above the Bills. I would rank the Ravens and possibly Niners above the Bills maybe one or two others you could argue. But certainly a firm top 5 defense.
  21. Yes but if the Bills are making a run at the playoffs and they suffer a Covid Infection or an injury and there is someone out on the market that might help replace them decently I wouldn't be opposed to using some money to sign that veteran talent. I agree try and save it as roll over but also have it as a tool at your disposal for this season as well.
  22. Or save the money for in season as this is going to be a season where depth and flexibility matter most.
  23. The Titans and 49ers made deep playoff runs with multiple games where they barely threw the ball. Although I like Jimmy G better than Tanny I think neither were strong reasons why their teams turned the corner. Bosa has registered 40 sacks in 4 seasons but factoring that he missed over half a season with an injury it is more like 40 sacks in 3.5 seasons. Granted the team has only had one winning season in the 3 full years he played (2017 the Chargers were 9-7) but it isn't like Bosa is the reason they are losing.
  24. I think Clowney's sack total is misleading as I do think he had a good season last year being a very disruptive player and a one year deal would be good for a mercenary like Clowney to keep his motivation. However I think that given the volatile nature of this season and possibly next season it would be best for the Bills to make any trades or big cap guzzling acquisitions in season. Players are going to miss games due to Covid and injuries happen in any season. I wouldn't hate a Clowney acquisition on a one year deal, however I would prefer the team keep its flexibility in season. Although if there is one more free agent out there that the team likes to go after I would almost rather Logan Ryan as I am not too confident in the CB2 options esp if Norman doesn't pan out (Levi Wallace is an OK fall back but Gaines is always hurt and Norman is shaky.)
  25. The middle isn't inherently better, it is possible on a single issue that one side has a better idea. But the problem with American politics is that money and not the will of the people actually decides what laws get made. There are a lot of avenues of agreement between liberals and conservatives but those issues never get addressed because the only thing Dems and Reps can agree on is servicing corporate donors. They literally come together on the issues both sides hate.
