The War in Iraq will end up costing the US 5 trillion dollars, thousands of American lives and possibly a million Iraqi lives. It is by far one of the biggest blunders in American history.

Texas has frozen; Bring on the Green New Deal!!
billsfan89 replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Wind energy produces 20% of Texas's energy. This is just sad stupid propaganda for people who want to believe everything good is from the Republicans. https://www.texastribune.org/2021/02/16/texas-wind-turbines-frozen/ "Wind turbines — like natural gas plants — can be “winterized,” or modified to operate during very low temperatures. Experts say that many of Texas’ power generators have not made those investments necessary to prevent disruptions to equipment since the state does not regularly experience extreme winter storms." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/wind-power-turbine-texas-power-outage-winter-storm-electrical-grid/ "Experts say traditional energy sources, including coal and natural gas, performed below expectations, while wind power actually performed above expectations." -
I think they attempt to restructure Mitch. He is still one of the top pass blocking centers in the league and a decent run blocker. Mitch also anchors the communication and does the little leadership things a center is expected to do. Mongo as center is not tragic but I think while there is a gain in run blocking there is a significant loss in pass blocking and leadership. Plus if you cut Mitch and move Mongo over you have a hole at one of the guard positions. I agree you have to attempt to rework Mitch's contract as his cap number is not manageable but he still has value to the team and at a lower cap number is worth the risk of injury.

Norman was very critical to winning that Raiders game and made a few plays here and there, at least he produced something of value. Now you can argue that he didn't produce enough for the money he got but the team got some quality play for that signing. If Norman wants to come back at or near the vet minimum I would bring him into camp.

Jason Sanders new contract for Miami
billsfan89 replied to Utah John's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a solid move, 4.4 million for a top kicker is more than a fair price. Although it is the right move to retain talent it does chip down the amount of cap space they do have to play with to only keep a player and not add one. -
I would try and restructure Jefferson's contract, I think he is a nice rotational player but at 8 million on the cap he isn't worth it, I think . I also would outright cut Butler and ask Addison to restructure his contract.

I would also try and keep Brown via a restructure would make more sense. -
RD 2, Pick 54: DE AJ Epenesa, University of Iowa
billsfan89 replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
AJ was also a pick to have an impact 2 to 3 seasons in not a guy brought in to contribute right away. Going into the draft the DE position was 3 older players and AJ was an attempt to get someone younger waiting in the wings. A RB like Dobbins might have had more year one impact but wouldn't have been the difference as I think Moss is a similar talent and the RB position wasn't the reason the Bills lost to the Chiefs. -
I think the danger of having 3 primary pass rushers aged 32 or older is that they all regresse in the same season and you are left with no pass rush.
-
Not sure if JJ fits, the Bills need to get younger and more dynamic at DE. Unless they plan on releasing Addison and still brining in a younger DE. But I wouldn't hate JJ, I just think there are better directions to go.

Source: LB Matt Milano looking for “top dollar” in FA
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Milano were an elite coverage LB I think he could push to 10-11 million per. Brandon Marshall was mostly known as a coverage LB and pulled in 8 million a year for 4 seasons in 2016 when the cap was set at 155 million or roughly 5% of the cap. 5% of a 180 million dollar cap would be 9 million which would allow Milano to not have to overreach that much to get into the 10ish million range. -

I would put D.Williams as being harder to replace. But Milano isn't too far behind. And I agree Milano is a very good player. But when everyone is in a cap crunch it depresses the market for all players. And that makes it harder for a guy like Milano who isn't a pass rusher and isn't dynamic in coverage. I think this might actually work to the Bills benefit in keeping Milano. If his best offers are 2-3 year deals in the 8-9 million dollar aav range then he might just take a one year deal in the 8-9 million dollar range with the Bills and go after another bite at the apple when the cap hopefully expands in 2022. -

Are any of those teams willing to spend 12 million on an LB that isn't a pass rusher and isn't elite in coverage against TE's, who also has issues being banged up? Those teams are going to have their pick from free agents and aren't likely to want to spend 20-30% of their cap space on a LB like Milano. -
If I am Miami I am calling up Seattle and Houston and pushing all in to acquire either Watson or Wilson. I would easily for Wilson give up picks 3, 18, 50 and 123 in 2021 and a 1st and 3rd (swapped with a 5th from Seattle) in 2022. Miami is a QB away from being a contending team and I have to hope that they don't land one of those top two QB's via trade.

If there is a big time cap crunch that puts the cap at 185 million or lower then who is offering Milano 12 million per-season? The Bills sure as hell won't be able to since even if they cut Brown, Butler, Jefferson, Lee Smith and get players like Addision, Hughes, Mitch and a few others to restructure their deals the Bills will still have limited cap dollars to spend and I doubt they are going to spend it heavily on Milano. At a 180 million dollar cap number 22 teams are going to either be negative on the cap or only have less than 20 million in space (which considering the rookie pool cash needed and emergency money means less than 10 million available) yes I know teams will cut players and redo deals but in the end the amount of free cash flow on a cap set around 185 million or less is going to be dramatically lower than most years. I can't see any team spending 12 million on Milano. I could be wrong but I think his "prove it" deal is somewhere in the 7-9 million dollar range, I can't see a team spending 12 million on a LB who isn't a pass rusher and can't consistently shut down top TE's in coverage. -
A Few Thoughts About The Alabama Draft Class.....
billsfan89 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
2000's USC had that issue as well. You never knew who was making the other players look better than they were. I feel like for the most part Bama players have fared well in the NFL the past 10ish years. So I think avoiding them completely is a bad strategy unless Beane and the scouting department have data that Bama, OSU and Clemson players aren't panning out. I think the reason Beane has stayed away from those programs might just be coincidence. I am sure he has liked some of their players but they just haven't fallen to them at the right spot. -
Is it time for Gronk to come home?
billsfan89 replied to BuffaloRebound's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gronk seems to love playing with Brady, I think he plays the rest of his career in Tampa with Brady. I would love for him to come here but it just isn't happening. -
3 million isn't WR4 money but I feel like a team like Jacksonville looking for a gadget player who can add some speed and versatility to their WR corps will pay him 3 million and that's just too much for the Bills. I think Mac also is someone who has been effective returning kicks. So I can once again see a team looking at Mac and seeing a player that can be their return man and give them 30 catches, 300 yards and 3-4 TD's to the offense, which is worth 3 million esp to a team flushed with cap space. I would love to have Mac back, I think he adds a nice wrinkle to the offense. But I think another team really talks themselves into paying him a bit more than he might be worth to the Bills.

SB commercials are always hit or miss most years. You typically see a few clever and funny ones and a few cringe ones.
