  1. Actually, we have evidence (se: Cowboys, Dallas) that he is a very good D-Coordinator, it's just not recent. And you are 100% correct about the QB position. I think everyone wants to know what Chan was talking about in regards to bringing in a "very good QB". The only possibilities on the FA market are Dennis Dixon and Vince Young IMO. Dixon has fewer red flags and comes from a winning program. He also is an agile, athletic QB that could fit Chan's schemes well. VY was once a very sound QB. Then his head got in the way. If he has his life sorted, I'd love to see what he could do. I'd have few issues seeing him backing up Fitz because Thigpen has nowhere near the upside. I don't look at his results in the preseason last year to evaluate Thigpen as he was coming into a new system. I do look at his history in the league however and it only includes one decent year in KC with Chan scheming to his strengths and not getting too far with that gameplan. If this team is going to be a contender, which is the aspiration, the Bills need complete faith in the back-up to step in and at least come close to what Fitz is bringing to the table. As for Cordy Glenn in the second, I am more positive about the pick after reading D'Allesandris' comments about him this morning. I see D'Allesandris as one of the best O-line coaches in the league and if he sees a lot of potential in Cordy and the ability for him to step in and improve the O-line, I am 100% behind that pick.
  2. Actually, you stated "don't be surpassed" if he was drafted, though you did surely intend to state that he was a good possibility. I see your points with 3,6 and 7 as they are, to the layman, the obvious question marks. A large number of people on this board have expressed complete support and belief in Chix and this draft will lead the rest to either follow suit or bring out the torches and pitchforks. Personally, I have seen a great deal of improvement on paper this offseason and the players that have been brought in under this regimes walk are generally great contributors. I wouldn't have picked TJ in that spot, but the OL needs depth and we saw what happened when Lindell went down last season. If a 6th or 7th fails, then you are 90% of the teams in the league this year. Cold, hard facts.
  3. It is amusing how people claim stuff like this, but even funnier how others call them out. I'm 6'5" 235lbs and ran a 4.68 two years ago when I was 33 and still playing. I figure a 4.8 is pretty achievable for someone of your stature who is still playing. I believe that this was SJB's point.
  4. If I had a choice, he'd be gone. There has to be a better option that can be developed. Either that or free up a roster spot for another posiion (like DE).
  5. Burfict showed his colors in the last game of the year at ASU when he sat and sulked with a towel over his head after playing horribly, forcing his biggest proponent, Dennis Erickson, to sit him out. He has talent and had some immense hits in his career, but he is known as a headcase. All that being said, I have read a few pieces stating that he is working to change his attitude, dedicating himself to training and working with the right people to change the way he approaches the game and life. I'd take a flyer in the 7th, but no way I'd use a pick any earlier than that.
  6. While harsh, I agree with your sentiment. The Bills that I love are the BUFFALO Bills. The Toronto Bills would not be my favorite team, though it would be damn tough to switch allegiances to another franchise. I became a rabid fan in 87 after my first game at the Ralph.
  7. Second generation Bills fan. Been a Bills fan since I was born. Not from NY. Live on Vancouver Island. if I'm not a real fan, I have no idea who is. Anybody doubting me should ask my wife. Go Bills!!!!!
  8. I can see Hairston starting at LT with Glenn being part of the depth w/ Levitre. He needs to be in OTA's working on strength and agility. I love his size and raw power, but the footwork is something he needs to work on to be a starting LT in the NFL. I am happy with the pick, as a person that watched a bunch of Standford games, as opposed to Martin as he addresses current depth and the future at LT, something Martin would not do. It will be interesting to see what comes of the WR position.
  9. I was thinking more along the lines of Irvin=Aaron Curry, a guy the Hawks just gave up on last year for being a situational LB. That being said, Irvin has a great motor and rushes the QB as well as anyone in the draft based on everything I have seen on him. It's a changing league, and the NFC West is full of teams (ARI, STL and SFO) exemplifying the pass-first mentality. I, as someone who lives close to Seattle, hope that he succeeds because I'd much rather see an improved product on the field this year when I go to games and their need for a pass rush is strong. Going to their Monday nighter vs. the Packers on the 35 yard line in the 4th row, so I'm hoping to see a difference maker in Irvin up close.
  10. Though surprised, I like the pick. I know that CB is a verifiable need and Gilmore was the definitive #2 CB available. I was saying Floyd before the pick, but I trust Buddy in a major way. GO BILLS!!
  11. You need to learn a bit more about this guy. He's not known as thug or gangster. His issues stem from extreme low self-confidence. He was so disappointed in himself after the combine, that he considered quitting. Instead, he has begun the process of turning a 180. He hired a personal trainer and has been hitting the gym hard every day, working on agility, strength and conditioning in an effort to get himself to the NFL. He was known to take plays off in college, though his college coach, Dennis Erickson, absolutely loves the guy. He's a risk, but it's not as though he's a bad guy.
  12. I concur fully. What a dumb statement by HornyToad. Completely illogical.
  13. I am very surprised with this. The guy was a projected early 1st rounder with the rep as the dirtiest player in college. Youtube the guy. He laid out some people with some HUGE hits the past few years.
  14. I read the new article in ESPN the mag and I like the way that he has responded to his poor showing at the combine. He is really working to turn things around. I saw some good things at ASU (heavy hitter), but his Combine and Pro Day didn't help endear him to scouts. If he's available in the 7th, I would throw caution to the wind.
  15. One word: ridiculous. Have you been asleep the past two years? OBD has had it right with the majority of the picks in both 2010 and 2011 and I expect the same, if not better, this year. I haven't seen a bust in the past two drafts (maybe Wang and Calloway, but both were later round projects), though there are a few question marks (Jasper, Troup, Levi Brown and Chris White) but all have shown promise or were BPA's late in the draft. In Buddy we should trust. The guy has not let us down in the least.
  16. He would be a 1st or 2nd rounder if he was 5 inches taller. The guy can ball, but he is going to be a long shot to become a starter in the NFL. Not too many 5'10" guys make the cut at QB. Take him in the 6th. Worth a risk at that point.
  17. I like Floyd. Solid player, prototypical size. He is far more of a question mark than Blackmon. It, IMHO, is not even a question of who is the superior WR at this point. Blackmon has the smarts, hands, speed, toughness and leaping ability to be a fantastic WR for many years to come.
  18. Gabbert was, quite obviously, over-hyped and over-drafted. Comparing him with Tannehill isn't really being as evaluative as you need to be. Tannehill is a better pro prospect, IMHO. He has a far better pocket presence and has not shied away from contact in the least, a tendency that Gabbert was showing in the college game. Gabberts arm is decent, while Tannehill shows superior arm strength. I am not a big fan of either, but my expectations of Tannehill, if allowed to develop behind a veteran QB, are higher than I have ever had for Gabbert.
  19. Floyd and Kuechly are two picks with the most upside for this team. Either of them would make me (and it sounds like the majority on this board) very happy. If the jig is up and these are the targets, In Nix and Whaley I trust.
  20. Prognostication is sweeping the nation. 8 days from now we will find out the pick. Making statements like "So and so WILL be the pick" is slightly ridiculous. That is, unless you are NGU. Then, the world of TBD stops and listens.
  21. I think that the NFL sched-makers didn't pay attention. The Bills-Fins are no primetime matchup. Bills-Pats or Bills-Jests are. I hope we absolutely crush the Fins to show the league what happens when they deliver 4 Monday nighters to the Bears, a team led by a QB made of glass and a vaunted defense that looked over-the-hill last year before they got older this year. I'm just bitter I guess. That's what you get for being a fan of a small-market team.
  22. Seattle is a home game. They have a ball-hawking defense, but an unproven QB corps and a volatile O-line. I expect a good game, but the Bills defense, if as good as projected, should be the difference maker. I like the totals from below. I'd expect a L in Denver, but I also expect to take two from the Jests. Still adds up to 10 wins. Miami 2 Jets 2 Patriots 1 Houston 0 Indy 1 Denver 0 San Fran 0 Cardinals 1 Jags 1 Ravens 0 St Louis 1 Seahawks 1
  23. I need an October 14th home game, my first trip to the Ralph in 5 seasons! I have been living on the West Coast for 16 years and have generally only made it to the East in summer time, aka the offseason. If not, I am headed to San Fran for that game. I need to see a Bills game! I'm getting antsy!
  24. I actually think that this is a much larger problem than the pot use. Habitual screw-ups to this point. I still love his skillset though.
  25. I disagree with labelling Jenkins as a "loser". He is a young guy that has made a number of mistakes that have cost him dearly to this point. He was, quite truly, the top CB in the country as a sophomore in Florida. His skillset is incredible and the only knock on him on the field is his size (5'10"). I would be more than happy to see him on this team. With our group of solid veterans to steer him in the right direction, he should prove to be a steal in the second. Maybe we can also talk to the pot dealers of WNY to convince them to not sell to him for the sake of the team?
