Buffalo Is Going To Beat Houston
VanCity replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Juice? What the %*#@ is juice? Gimme some of that purple drank! I'd love to be as optimistic as the OP, but I wouldn't put a penny on this squad for the rest of the season. -
I believe he refers to Mr Tarvaris Jackson. But, he really didn't "beat him out" as much as he pushed him out as Tarvaris didn't see the field in preseason and was trade fodder from the get-go. The Hawks are the other team I follow and Wilson has looked like a rookie at times, but his poise has been surprisingly strong at others. I would reserve judgement on his future until you watch a few games. He shows a sizable amount of promise and looked much improved last Sunday.

Zac Dysert...this kid is gonna be good in the NFL...
VanCity replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been watching a lot of college ball this year and have seen almost every one of those QB's play at least once. Geno is, quite obviously, the top choice for QB's at this point. Barkley has taken a nosedive and did himself a disservice by not declaring last year. The Tylers are decent prospects, but I'm not enamored with either, and EJ is good in spurts. Aaron Murray is okay, but I don't see him turning out as more than a back-up. I was only able to see Dysert vs OSU and was more impressed with him than most everybody aside from Geno. His arm is extremely strong, he places the ball beautifully and he was effective in switching calls numerous times at the line after reading the defense. I agree wholeheartedly with Urban. He will be playing on Sundays. If Geno is gone, I wouldn't complain for a second if he was the pick based on my observations from that game. -
WOW! CJ Spiller practices and expects to play

Boston's 98.5 slams Buffalo and Bills
VanCity replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bawstan fans are fickle. As JohnnyGold said, they'll just go back to watching the Bruins, Celts or BoSox or whoever is most successful when the Pats go into their post-Brady funk. The Bills are more relevant than they've been in years. Let's revel in their hatred. -
Powell looked to be the future in preseason. I guess the future is now. Big time appreciation for a great citizen and long-time Bill in Moorman. But, business is business.

The catch really wasn't the issue. The correct call according to the rulebook was made. It was Tates blatant shove that was the issue. The ref that missed that was either blind or a Seahawks fan. And, truth be told, I follow the Hawks as my secondary team to the Bills, so I'd be biased to them if anything. The replacement refs have attracted negative attention that the league doesn't need. Pay the pros and lets get back to a focus on the game not the officiating

When I saw the inactives, he and Tarvaris stick out to me as players that I thought would be out there by now. I am not certain that Tarvaris is gonna be active at all if he hasn't picked up the offense effectively enough by now to usurp Thigpen this week. I watched him all last year in Seattle and expected that, with his combination of speed and pocket abilities, he would be a "Chan guy" and would have been in pads by this week.

As I read it, that article insinuates that the Bills would trade Urbik or Levitre for Welker. If that was even a possibility, I would have no interest in Welker. That would help the Pats far more than the Bills.

David Nelson after surgery-Awesome

Say what? -
A) You can surely state an opinion without a questionable accusation. B) Awesome episode. Ray Lewis, whatever did or didn't occur, is my favorite player in the game.

Merriman done fell on some hard times. Bakhtiari over him has gotta be tough to stomach.

Deion Branch - back with the Pats
VanCity replied to buffalobillsfootball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Branch fits that system, Winslow is broken. I'm not overly upset about either of them being added to the Pats roster. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but that is extremely doubtful. -
Florida High School Football Uniform
VanCity replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My thoughts exactly. I like a good traditional uni, but these are high school uniforms for KIDS. They are meant to be modern and have a youthful style. If they like them, then let them wear them. Definitely stand out in a crowd! -
What is the average age of the posters on TBD?
VanCity replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
35 and got hooked by my dad. He wasn't a huge football fan until he was invited to a company trip to the Ralph in 88. Had such a good time that he brought me a jersey and hat and we watched, attended or listened to every game from that season until I moved West in 95. I have carried on the tradition, but have had to endure a lot of lonesome losing seasons. I found another Bills fan (transplant from St Catherines, Ontario) in my city (Victoria, BC, definitely a beautiful place to live) but he's not exactly sociable. My 3 month old daughter has three Bills onesies and may be stuck with my affliction. Guess that would be a cruel and unusual punishment. -
It's a tough call here, but I am less concerned about the effectiveness of Potter and more concerned about the roster spot. For those of you wondering who I would add to the active roster, it would be a WR. The team is so short with the loss of Nelson that a WR may be the most effective addition to a team thats coach preaches the gospel of the spread offense. I am not there at practice to witness the the issue(s) with him, but I'd still love to see Easley put out there to see if he's even worth holding onto on the PS. Preseason was less than impressive, but who did impress on the Bills roster in preseason? As for the effectiveness of Potter, I completely understand why he is out there. But one of he or Lindell is a luxury. A luxury that a team that got blown out 48-28 shouldn't be able to afford. Potter better be getting a lot of FG practice because Lindell isn't going to be getting any better at kickoffs.

I'll supply the thumb tacks.

Sundays debacle has done wonders for the pundits. It was, very admittedly, a pathetic showing that promised little for the season. There are, however, 15 games to go. There is talent on this team and Fitz can be corrected to at least read what the defense is doing to him. I dunno what Chan is preaching this week, but if the team that shows up at the home opener is the same team that showed last week, I will be very surprised. There is regular season tape of what the schemes KC will be running are. Not that I am stating that as a viable excuse, but it can't hurt to have a clue of what you are facing. Rex, as much as I despise him, disguised his schemes in the preseason as well as anyone I have seen in a very long time.

Marcell Dareus' brother killed in shooting
VanCity replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Terrible, terrible news. Sincere condolences to the Dareus family. As a few posters have noted, I hope that Marcell takes the time he needs to heal and be with his family during these difficult times. -
Although I'd be happy to have Deion, is Plax an option for the vision that Chan and Buddy have for this squad? Not that I am defending any vision that either of them have based on yesterdays performance.
-
TO or Ochocinco anyone? All kidding aside, this is very, very bad news. Nelson has good hands and a good repore with (gasp!) Fitz. He is a pretty reliable WR, something this team needs badly. Is this Easley's chance?

My take on what went wrong (and right) yesterday!
VanCity replied to ChevyVanMiller's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like how you took the bad with the good. CJ, Kelsay and Cordy were all promising. The fact is that the D-line, Chan, Fitz, the LB's, corners and safeties were so bad, that any positives were so far outweighed. I sat in my office all afternoon wondering why the heck I support such a team. I must be a masochist. But, it's game one and they can't get much worse. -
Rookies to keep your eye on this season
VanCity replied to KD in CA's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thank you for that -
There is still one spot based on the 5 from yesterday and the two from today. Until I hear otherwise, I will assume Geathers. it would be odd for a player to preemptively tweet his signing then not be signed. Stranger things have happened.....
