Great post Kellyto83td! I was born into it, but I've always been given a choice. I've never lived in Buffalo and haven't lived within 2 days driving distance of Buffalo for over 16 years, but I won't (read:can't) give up being a fan of this team. The fans are the primary reason that I am a fan. I have been to a number of NFL stadiums and met numerous fans of other teams. None, overall, can compare to the fans of the Buffalo Bills. Living in a blue collar city, toughing it out through tough economic times, tough weather and a franchise that has a 13 year playoff drought would beat down the toughest of the tough. Somehow, true Bills fans keep driving through it. I too am proud to be one amongst you. Here's to the good city of Buffalo and the Buffalo Bills!

Quarterbacks & Rounds I’d be OK with us drafting them in
VanCity replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So, you are not okay with Barkley at all then? I can't argue with your list, except I'll throw Barkley into my second round list Round 1 Smith Round 2 Barkley, Wilson, Manuel Round 3,4 Dysert, Scott, Brey, Nassib UDFA-Jones (just for a look-see) -
Building a Sustainable Defense through Analytics
VanCity replied to TheLynchTrain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Having watched as the Hawks built this defense and seeing what the Bills are doing, I can say without hesitation that this has not been the Bills MO for the past 4 years under Nix. The Hawks have no stop-gaps. They think long-term. Their two FA pick-ups on D- Avril and Bennett, are young, on short-term contracts and were signed to emphasize the Hawks Super Bowl opportunity coming into the 13/14 season. Other than that, they have a D focused on youth and speed, with a healthy mix of brute power (see: Bryant, Red). -
Hit the nail square on the head. Thank you. I watched TJ in Seattle after having the relative pleasure of watching Hasselbeck for many years prior. There is not a doubt in my mind who the superior guy to mentor a young QB is. TJ is a good guy, decent QB. Hasselbeck has been a winner and is an excellent guy in the locker room. He has made very good decisions time after time in the clutch, despite his arm being less than spectacular. If he had been gifted with a better arm, he would have been a SB champ. IMHO.

Watched Hasselbeck in Seattle and would be more than happy to see him on the Bills roster if he has gas in the tank. Great leader, competitor, accuracy and didn't throw the ill-timed picks like Fitz. Interesting cut by the Titans.

Bills FO not the only ones that screw up! ELWAY (not)
VanCity replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's what I believed was the case from the get-go. Elway is not a shmuck and has handled his FO duties extremely well in Denver. Good luck getting new clients Marty Magid! -
OG Chad Rinehart signs with Chargers
VanCity replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This draft offers heavy OL depth. I'm not one that has any allegiances when it comes to that #8 pick. LB would be nice, QB will probably be a reach (Geno to OAK, Barkley to ARI-though that's a reach to me anyways), CB is not something I want to see the Bills touch in the 1st for a few years and there's plenty of depth in the 3rd to 5th for DB's anyways, WR may be an option, Safety should be filled in FA this year with plenty of strong availability. Why not a top-tier OG or OT w/ one of our tackles moving inside? Heck, maybe Zebrie Sanders is the guy the Bills are looking at to fill the LG....doubtful. -
Update: Percy Harvin Traded to the Seahawks
VanCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was about to offer a rebuttal to 26CornerBlitz, but you summed it up for me. The Hawks have reloaded and they've put in the big ammo this time. Stoked to be able to go to a couple of Hawks games this year! -

Incarcerated Bob to fabricate bills info

Was he incarcerated for stealing "breaking news" from this posters on TSW? -
The last young, stand-out TE that the Raiders "organization" let leave in Free Agency was Zach Miller. He hasn't blown anybody away, but when given the opportunity (This years NFC semi-final) he can really impress. I'd be happy to have that caliber a player on the Bills. I am not sure the Raiders have figured out the NFL's move to pass-catching, athletic TE's is more than a fad.

Northern Iowa WR runs reported 4.19 40 at his pro day
VanCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I could think of when I first heard the reports of that time. (see: Heyward-Bey, Darius) -
Brandon Myers, is a big, athletic, pass-catching and blocking TE that had a very solid season in OAK last year. He's a FA and he has been quoted as saying that he doesn't expect OAK to be a player for his services. I would love to see the Bills make a play, within reason, for his services. Te will definitely be a need w/ the uncertainty surrounding Chandlers availability at the start of the season. Thoughts?

Be prepared for sticker shock for free agents

I was thinking the very same thing. Sad, but so very true.... -
This guy?

Damontre Moore - DE - Texas A&M
VanCity replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm 6'5", 6'9" wingspan, played at 255lbs as a TE. I put up 22. I don't wanna hear about arm length and bench press. Maybe I could've done 24 with a shorter wingspan, but 14 is not a D lineman number unless it's post-game after the Super Bowl. -
James Walker=turrible. I don't even think he has a source in any of the AFC East offices. I would hope that he is being reviewed by the people at ESPN, though the whole "Insider" thing there essentially places anyone who can write an article available to the public and anyone who knows a lick within the paid "Inside" program.

I wish no ill will towards Fitz, but he may be the definition of serviceable. Like the majority, I want and expect more for the future of the Bills. He is worth keeping as his football IQ is obviously his strength, but competition is what is needed and hopefully competition that he can mentor. Restructuring his contract is the right financial move. Let's all hope that it leads to a restructure of the QB heirarchy for the Bills.

Oddly enough, i recently rated Chris Burke as the worst of all NFL writers...... Marrone was a good choice, and maybe even the best choice. People can have opinions, but facts are another thing altogether. I like McCoy as a solid choice and that's pretty much the only one that i could see being better suited for the team that they went to.

The Draft has some very good quality on the lines, some decent quality in the LB's (Love Jarvis Jones, but that back is a major question mark) and some spots of top talent everywhere else but QB. This years FA crop has talent most everywhere, but QB (Flacco ain't moving). I guess those two correlate, but I don't think the FA crowd has that much to worry about unless they are in the lower tier, then they always have something to worry about. And, OP, I think you are talking about Devin (not Devon) Taylor from the Gamecocks? He is a very big dude, good physique, but should have had a far better season with every team focusing on Clowney. I like him in the 3rd or 4th round, but not before that. He showed well yesterday in the Collegiate Bowl, doing himself some favors, but it is going to be hard for him to rise up to the 1st round where he was projected pre-season. Sio Moore (UConn LB) actually caught my attention yesterday and I could see him being on the Bills draft board.

Can't argue the hire due to a strong resume, but interested to see what he does with a line that was performing very well under D'Allesandris. As BillsGuy, time will tell, but my expectations for most of the units are higher. Not because of change, but because of minds that aren't stale and stubborn (I'm looking at you Wanny and Chan)
