RD5, Pick #153: OG Cyril Richardson - Baylor University
VanCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fan of this move. I had my eye on him for the 3rd rounder. When he was there in the fifth, I was thinking he couldn't be passed up -
RD2, Pick #44: T Cyrus Kouandjio - University of Alabama
VanCity replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very happy with Cyrus here. Whaley made a good play to add the fifth while still getting the player they wanted. The O is loading up. I'm hoping to see a LB and De still. I actually expect that one will be taken care of in the 3rd. Maybe Skov? -
I know the Bills have loaded up at WR and it seemingly makes Stevie expendable, but Stevie is an affordable luxury at this point. He's, by all accounts, a great teammate, an obvious weapon on offense and a player who has enjoyed Buffalo enough to publicly state his desire to remain a Bill long-term. He's not been part of the problem in his tenure in Buffalo, but one of the bright lights and hopefully, part of the solution. If a 6th rounder is his current value, keep him and let the O rock out this year.

Last minute draft prediction. You heard it here.
VanCity replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That may be even more predictable than the JETS crowd. -
Don't be shocked to see Mack go #1
VanCity replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Truthfully, that is probably the opposite of what will occur. Clowney drops and the cost for #2 reaches what it would have cost for 1. -
WVAU TV Marcel Dareus arrested-edit-again
VanCity replied to Punch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well put. There are different sides to the cannabis story. I was a daily smoker for close to 16 years of my life, but saw it becoming very detrimental to my life and my most important relationships as I was not active and extremely unmotivated while under the influence. Though quitting has definitely effected my post count on TSW negatively, my life has markedly improved and I have achieved so much more since quitting than I ever would have if I had continued smoking dope. If used properly, it can offer positives, but in the wrong hands ( see: this guy) it can really waste a lot of your life. -
I won't argue with your point in regards to QB's in the top 10, but I will in regards to Bridgewater as an upgrade in Tampa. I have seen Mike Glennon in action and I would take that arm over what Bridgewater brings most any day. In addition, go ahead and take Carr at #4. Just leaves the Bills with more options and less incentive to lose picks by trading up.

Herschel Walker on the Bills...and other weird stuff
VanCity replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously jboys? Herscel was great, but don't confuse his bobsled and mma work for what is required to be a NFL rb. He is well past his expiry date for that. -
I did a 4 rounder that worked out nicely. 1. Robinson 2.Amaro 3. Jeffcoat 4. Max Bullough Can't see it falling quite that well, but man I love the depth of this years draft.

Truly, nothing but good can come of this. The negative Nellies will always put their two cents in, but posting on a fan board saying"show me the results" 5 months before they hit the field has to be one of the more pointless things to do, unless it is solely to rustle feathers and bring about a response.

After all that build-up, this is what you come up with? Man, you had me waiting with baited breath...... What more can I expect from someone with a screen name requesting the dismissal of the guy who was fired over a year ago.... To be honest, I actually think he can win in the NFL and, despite my high hopes for EJ, wouldn't throw things at the TV if he was drafted at #9 as i have faith in the current regime to get this right. If, however, they gave up anything to move up and pick him, my TV may get a bit dented.

I used to love Rob Schneider until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent a$$ clown became famous and started making movies with Adam Sandler. Just had to perpetuate the office space references....

Bills Release DE Kourtnei Brown; Claimed by Detroit
VanCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Despite the addition of Wynn, the Bills are still a bit shallow at DE. That only leaves Mario, Hughes and Wynn as true DE's on a team looking to play the 4-3. Am I missing anyone? -
I remember watching the bucs not that long ago
VanCity replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was thinking the very same thing. Corey was a great pick-up in the locker room and, I expect based on his history with the Ravens, on the field. Buffalo could find a far worse influence to team Mike up with. Let's hope this Mike Williams career doesn't go the way of the last WR named Mike Williams Tampa let go. -
Despite Williams troubled past, I am happy with this move. Great size, speed and hands and going to be coached by the guy under whom he put up an incredible 7 game run at Syracuse prior to quitting/being booted off the team (depends who you ask). You have to know that Marrone signed off on this, so prospects are good that he believes he can work with him. The Bills receiving corps absolutely improves with this addition.

Source: Bills could have new owner as soon as October
VanCity replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am hearing reports of John Spano being the lead investor.....is that crickets I hear?..... -
Lewan should not be a #9 pick. If they trade down into the mid to late teens, then it can be a consideration, but there are far greater talents that would improve this squad that will be available at #9. So many OL prospects that would fill the gap at RT will be available in the later rounds. That, and Lewan isn't as much of a guarantee as you want to see in an early first rounder.

Big WR's currently under contract are no Mike Evans. Ramses Barden is the closest thing, but he is still not really comparable. If the Bills are looking for a sure-fire #1 receiver for the long term, I can't see Evans being passed on. I'd love to be a fly on the wall of Whaley's office this offseason.

Post Free Agency Bills Mock Draft
VanCity replied to BIllsNation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post. Love to read well thought out and insightful posts. The Evans/Ebron/Tackle debate, like every early first round selection ever made, has a very strong likelihood of defining the Bills for a very long time. Also, damn the NFL for delaying the draft! -
Peter King MMQB article on Jim Kelly
VanCity replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great article. Had me tearing up this morning when he talked about seeing Hunter first. My two nightmares as a father: outliving my child and not having the opportunity to see my child grow to a professional adult. He's already gone through one and facing the prospect of the other. #PrayersforJK indeed. -
Earl Thomas. I am one of those second team fans and have had the good fortune of having that team be the Seahawks for the past 13 years. ET is an animal. Cerebral, fast and strong with great hands. The best safety in the game hands down.
-
I'd prefer not. Talented receiver, may be motivated, but I'm in Goodwin's camp and can see redundancy between the two of them and expect some big things from him this year if healthy. A Desean pick-up would also effect the draft and the Bills need to have a Mike Evans/ Kelin Benjamin type more than another speedster with Manuel begind center.

Rarely has a more arrogant statement been made in relation to others arrogance. CanadiAns(check your spelling bud) don't matter to a Bills fan?! Ever checked any of the border crossings on a game day? We flock in droves to Buffalo games. Many of us, myself included, would stop being Bills fans if they moved elsewhere. If we are talking hockey fans, then you are probably correct. Canadians take hockey seriously and many take that passion in the wrong direction. But your generalizations about a largely friendly and humble populace are both offensive and wrong.

Sad to have read this. He was a legend in football circles and a fantastic ambassador for both the game and the city of Buffalo. Thank you Ralph.

Bills Free Agents Updates
VanCity replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Freeman has really fallen far. Showed a lot of promise and flashes of excellence in his first two years. Schiano absolutely destroyed his confidence. He will have a lot to prove to make a roster next season.
