I grow weary of Maybin talk. He is an EX Bills player. Let's talk about someone on the team now. Maybin has been gone for a full year, did nothing for us except end up being a wasted first rounder. Now, how about that Kyle Moore?

Bradham taking first team reps
VanCity replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mildly surprising. We have had the opportunity to see what Moats brings to the team. As alluded to by a few of you, that is pass rush and an improved ability to cover TE's in the short game, but definitely less in the run stuffing department. Bradham showed an ability to be better in the coverage/run game in college. I could see him moving into Moats' spot as the season wears on, with Moats coming in on some blitz packages (if, unlike the preseason, we have some). -
He's a busted LT for San Diego?

What if Thigpen Looks Great Thursday?

Well, don't have to worry about that anymore..... -
Seattle's Reaction to the Loss of TJack
VanCity replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I watched every Hawks game last year (I live in the PNW) and I liked Tarvaris....as a solid back-up. That's what he will provide. Do not have expectations of him taking over the offense. However, he may improve with a more aggressive play caller in Chan. Pete Carroll seemed to pull back the reigns heavily last year when there were good opportunities to go for some big plays. -
He was my first thought. Doesn't say much for either of them. It's funny how Josh is widely regarded in a positive light, but Dez is placed in the category of villain. Both of them have serious personality issues. Josh is an addict with depression, Bryant is just a grade A a$$.

Where are you guys seeing these?

in order for Potter to be worth a spot, the Bills have to expect to score a lot of TDs. That roster spot could go elsewhere if the preseason is any indication. Unlike many, I believe that there is a very real possibility that it is.

You mean like "TO's history, there is nothing left in the game he's got?" just kidding, I actually agree with you.

Russell Wilson to start Friday
VanCity replied to Thirty Year Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was all behind picking him and am happy for my "local" team that they made the smart choice to pick Russell. Todays game was more proof that he is legit. I'm excited to see him play when it matters -
MJD is gonna fetch a lot more than that. Shahid Khan is not messing around with MJD, as he shouldn't. Petulant millionaires meet their match when they come up against powerful billionaires. If he gets traded, they are gonna get more than Tebow and a bag of peanuts called Shonn Greene. I would say a second rounder and a current 2nd tier starting RB would get it done.

Wow! This is not a good PR move. Merriman had recruited the heck out of players based on all reports. I guess he wasn't as good as he advertised....

Am with you 100%. I see a very dull future for Adams and see a lot of shine in Glenns game so far. He has had a couple of false start penalties, but like a few of you have said, it is a faster game and he will need to make adjustments. Any mistakes he has made have been correctable. He'll need to work on bending at the waist so much and get his hips lined up better, but his feet are good and he's managed to keep defenders at bay for the most part. I PVR'd the game and rewound a number of plays to watch individuals. Glenn is not an issue in my eyes.

Bills need to fix LB's and DB's core
VanCity replied to TitansBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not one to completely dismiss a posters opinion, but you can leave now TitansBills. Gilmore hasn't impressed you? Barnett is in the middle? Shep is on the outside? This is a seriously inaccurate post. You can have your opinion about Gilmore, but it is completely incorrect. The guy has been a big time bright spot and is going to be the Bills top CB immediately. -
Would be keen. I'm in the same boat with wanting something more than my other league. Scoring system is good with me.

Interesting Bill Polian Tidbit, courtesy Peter King

Took me a second, but gotcha. Well played Crayonz, well played. -
I knew about Demps last season, but he wasn't on a lot of teams draft radar. I don't believe that it was because of his training and focus for the Olympics. His ability as a punt/kick-off returner far outclasses his ability as a RB. He has obvious straight-line speed, but if you watched him in university, you would see that he had a difficult go when forced to put a lot of effort into breaking tackles and lateral moves. He was not a bad rb, but he would be third string at best on most NFL teams.

Anybody know what happened to Levi Brown (the QB, not the LT)?
-
The best part of this is that you indicated that in the Blaine Gabbert era someone would be catching something. That guy looked absolutely lost last year. You could have thrown a LB behind center in Jax last year and he might have stood a better chance.

People need to get some Avatars. Everyone looks like the Boy Wonder

[please fix subject]TJ Graham
VanCity replied to Maury Ballstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Definitely can agree that three years of data will dictate the overall success of the pick/ TJ, but there are mid-round WR's (Tim Dwight comes to mind) that have come out of the box flying and haven't looked back. Not imagining that TJ shows that well in his first season, but I believe that players 1st year success can often offer a good measuring stick to judge their future by. TJ looked good against the second teamers and all reports have the coaches being happy with his progress, work ethic and character. I hope to see him progress to being top 4 on the chart. Right now, he's probably sitting behind Stevie, Jones, Nelson and Hagan. -
Stevie asserting himself as a team leader...
VanCity replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean no disrespect, but why the hell would you complain when one of the actual best (not Twitner) players speaks up and states what we should all want to hear? This is also during a year when the team should have a championship mentality. This is a team built to challenge for the top, not to flounder in mediocrity or worse. If the team doesn't act like that during every practice, every game, every play, then how is the winning culture supposed to spread? I appreciate what he said and look forward to the execution of these words into action on Friday. -
Trentative looked every bit the man we saw leave here. Nice guy, not gonna cut it as a NFL qb. It does amaze me that he makes it on a roster year-in, year-out. I guess nice guys do win sometimes.

Concerned about QB and our offense?
VanCity replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love watching preseason games, only because they are the best teasers ever made. I hate when I watch movie trailers and they give away the whole movie. Preseason is the guarantee that you will see only snipits of the movie that build anticipation to see the whole thing. Judging a movie by a trailer is dumb, just like judging a season by the preseason is. The lack of a first team backfield was interesting, but I'll assume that Chan was looking to keep CJ and Fred healthy and saw the execution of the spread as more of a concern and attempted to get the O some game experience with it to see what areas they can work on. The tough thing is that the Skins defense read it every time. I saw reasons for concern that, come the regular season, should be ironed out. At least start being chicken littles in the regular season as oppose to after game one of the meaningless preseason. We need to get used to being optimistic again. Being a Bills fan in the last decade and a half hasn't allowed for much of that. -
D.Bell demoted to second team in Philly
VanCity replied to Max997's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a more than fair observation. Bell was seemingly a stand-up guy who wasn't seen as the long term answer at LT by OBD. We can't complain about that as he was a later round draft pick who played at a mid-round draft pick level. He did what was right and took the opportunity that was given to him. Surely, the Bills did not present that opportunity as the goal is to find the long term LT. He is an overpaid band-aid in Philly, waiting for Peters to return in 13/14. I don't hold that against him.
