  1. Despite his setbacks, I still see Easley as the one receiver with the ability to fill the no. 2 role. Aiken looked good last year, but Easley showed alot before he was forced to sit out the year.
  2. I am not sure that "set with.... Florence" is correct. Drayton is adequate, but we can definitely improve at CB.
  3. I'm in your boat. Alex Smith had a strong season last year, but that team is a definite contender with Peyton. I don't know why Harbaugh wouldn't be in the line-up of suitors. The one thing that I keep hearing is that Peyton won't go NFC as his goal remains to play his brother in the Super Bowl. I am thinking this is why he has ignored the Seahawks overtures to this point. Not that the Hawks are up to par with the 49ers at this point, but they sit as a possibility to do the Manning-Wayne package.
  4. John Abraham...loved him in his prime and could definitely be a great stopgap/teacher for a draft pick at DE. Garcon-fits the mold of a great #2 to Stevie. has good hands, range and knows what it takes to win. Red Bryant- I watch him every weekend (Seattle is an hour a way and we get all the games). This mountain of a man would be awesome to have on the Bills front four. He just disrupts like there's no tomorrow. Jason Jones- young with the ability to get to the passer. Fits a big need.
  5. Peyton to Miami. You can say he doesn't fit their system, but wherever he plays, he's gonna run that system. Shanny won't give up any power and who the hell wants to play for Snyder anyways? Those are the two with the most pressing need and the Super Bowl expectations. Could be Arizone, but I doubt they give up on Kolb that easily.
  6. Bruce was close to that "over-the-hill" that he mentioned and Thurman and Andre were definitely in that category. Loved them all and wish they had been Bills till the end of their careers, but they weren't contributing like they once did. Mind you, the Bills sucked more after they left, so I'll take all that back...
  7. I get that you are a negative member here and all, but hating on Spiller? Did you see him play after FJax went out? I still have hope for Carrington as a DE. He played out of place the last two seasons and tried to get too big. At this point he's not a wasted pick, but he needs to prove something this year. Troup has been a disappointment, but he went where he was expected to go in the draft and was picked to address the position of need (NT) when the Bills decided to move to the 3-4. We'll see what happens if his back is fixed next year.
  8. Claussen is a piss-poor excuse for an NFL qb. He was horrible as a rookie and showed just enough to be inactive all last season for a losing team. You want that guy as a back-up? I'd take a flyer on Quinn or gladly have Orton behind center long before I'd take a second glance at him.
  9. Stevie is a solid, but second tier, WR. Behind him, I don't even see a third tier WR. He should be the priority as his skillset is imperative to the offense, but it won't change my expectations. I am a Bills fan. Not a Bills front office fan. Not a coach fan. I like the players and the team and the city that they represent. The rest of the BS is outside of my sphere of influence. It makes things more difficult, but I guess a strong backbone is something I was born with.
  10. I like this school of thought. I was considering this when examining the FA list and the upcoming draft. With most every team focusing on 3-4, why not put together the best group of defenders suited to the 4-3? The demand is going to be lower, but the quality will be superior. Logic: not a bad idea.
  11. Not a surprise, but still a positive move IMHO. I suspect 4-3 is the right move. We have ILB's that can play the MLB (Shepp and Barnett) and OLB's more suited to the DE (Kelsay, Carrington). Our NT's (Williams or Dareus) are both DT's and line-up better in a 4-3 front. We can now select Upshaw and complete that front 7 quite handily. The DB's were less of an issue than the pass rush was, so I don't see that being a first round need unless a true star (Claiborne or Kirkpatrick, who should and will both be gone 3 or 4 spots ahead of 10) is there. Would love to go with a top WR, but the needs on D still trump the needs on O.
  12. While I don't expect Harris to be on the opening day roster, this is a good example of scouts doing their due diligence to determine what is out there on the scrap heap. If they come across a nugget sitting out there, it shows their keen eye for talent. If they come across nothing but some busted tailpipes, then at least they looked.
  13. R U Kidding me? If you don't watch the game, you have one of two options: 1) You aren't actually a fan. 2) You are dead. The last game of the year and it's against the Patsies. I'll be hungover with a bunch of "hair of the dog" going on and I'm on the West Coast, so it's a ridiculously early game for New years Day. GO Bills!
  14. It's Upshaw. We need an OLB that can truly play the position. He has proven it all year playing for one helluva D in Alabama and he's not going to regress as he hits the NFL. Strong, fast, smart. No-brainer for me based on a simple assessment of the teams weaknesses.
  15. Good interview Damond. Thanks for posting it as it's always good to get insight to one of the people many are bashing for being a cause of the issues we have seen on defense. I don't know why Moats seems to have gone backward from his rookie year. I had hoped to see more progress from a guy who seemed to have a high motor and truly enjoy getting to the qb. The Favre hit has been a big highlight in a career recently lacking in them. I'll root for him as he seems like a good guy, but he's gonna need to do more than just admire Ray Lewis, he's gonna need to start emulating him.
  16. Just to recap...First you state your desire to bring in AJ, then you quickly determine that he is a clown. Hmmmm....methinks we have a dilemma here. I don't think AJ has as much to do with what has happened in SD as do Norv and Rivers. Rivers brain seems to be fuzzy. Gunslinging is fine, but when you get picked off more than 20 times through 8 games, you might consider re-thinking that mentality. Instead, he has continued to get picked off at a prodigious pace. I find AJ to be brash and ego-centric. That being said, the GM of my favorite hockey team (Go ahead and bash away here) Brian Burke is the same personality type and has a similar eye for talent. I'd take his skillset at OBD in a heartbeat.
  17. Looks like your expectations are set rather high. Are those FA's listed in order of priority or is that a "to-do list". As much as I would love to grab each of one from that list, the Bills would be lucky to get one in all of them. There is money to be spent, but there's not as much allure to playing in our beloved Buffalo as we may hope. As a side note, gimme Anthony Spencer in a heartbeat.
  18. I live in another country altogether and see a number of positives. No need to overstate it, but the need for a realDC is imperative. If (Big IF) we fill needs at OLB, NT, DB and depth on the OL via FA and the draft, we look great. Seems like a few holes still, so a "lock for the playoffs" is not something I can get behind 100%.
  19. I don't agree that WR is a 1st round need at this point as long as 1st round talent at OLB, NT, CB or QB exists at the pick. The Bills can find 3rd-5th round talent at WR, while the needs at the others all constitute a replacement by top shelf talent. We saw a bad day at WR and we need to see a growth in maturity from Stevie. However, the needs on D are so glaring that the difference in each of those positions being played by a true first round talent far outweighs the possible difference made by a star WR. I also was thinking seriously today about the bad habits being taught by George Edwards. With such a young defense, this does not bode well. These things are going to take time to erase. I wish I could see a coach out there that could automatically come in and make a difference with this group, but I don't see anyone on the market. Maybe the annual head coaching carousel brings us a big time defensive coach. Anyone got any ideas?
  20. You do eat crayons, don't you? Drunk Canadian "broads" are more fun than you'll ever have. I'd give em that title in a heartbeat!
  21. Well stated. I haven't seen enough of Landry's games to provide this type of insight, but I would definitely take RG3 ahead of him regardless. My hope is that the Bills will not be in a position to grab him as that means they will have lost out this season. What are your thoughts on the OL, CB,OLB, and WR's that are available. A WR like Michael Floyd (yes, I know about his off-field issues) would mean a lot to this offense and he may be sitting there when the Bills select. Obviously Kalil would be a dream OT, but is there anyone else that has stood out? I'm not sure if we need 1st or 2nd round OL as we have solid starters. It's our depth there that needs help.
  22. Landry Jones is a prototype. 6'4", 230lbs, cannon for an arm and a solid pedigree. He will take a year to adapt to a pro offense, but I see great things from him. That being said, we need pass rushing first and foremost. The issue with this years draft is that there aren't any standout pass rushers expected to be worthy of a top 15 pick. Upshaw is the top rated OLB and, as stated above, he is not a natural pass rusher. Luke Quechly of BC and Zach Brown of UNC are highly regarded, but better fit the mold of a mlb in a 4-3. If we return to the 4-3 under Wanny, then maybe that works, but that really goes against what Buddy has been trying to do over the last two drafts on D.
  23. Jasper may be activated this season, but it won't be while we still have a chance at turning this thing around. projects play when teams are mathematically eliminated or the players in front of them are injured or on the down-turn. Though we have injuries on our O-line, we have improving, young players. Jasper may one day see the field, but his time has not come.
  24. Poe would be my call as well. i like a number of those players (Paige Moss and Travis lewis at the front of that list), but Poe is a man beast. We could really use one of those. Still want to kick someone for passing on Mt Cody!
