Nix was a much better GM than Donahoe. He took over a team that was much worse than the one Donahoe got and left a team that was better than the one Donahoe left. I don't see how you can say he was worse. In fact, I would say that Donahoe was the one that destroyed the team and sent it back to the stone age after many good seasons. He got rid of many good players and never replaced them.

I honestly don't think Manuel can learn all that much sitting on the sidelines. He's NOT a rookie, despite what some people keep trying to imply. He knows the playbook. Everything he needs to learn at this point comes from game action, and you can't simulate it in 30 minute sessions 2 hours before each game. I think he'll get another shot down the road, either with Buffalo or somewhere else. I wish him luck because that will probably be his last chance to make it in the NFL.

I agree that Richardson does need to work on transforming his body in the offseason. That's nothing that can be handled right now. In the clips that I see, the are getting beat by men that they engage as well as missing stunts. So, the answer is both. I also agree that Pears's build makes it harder for him to block DTs in pass protection that DEs. Especially since he really has to engage them early instead of stepping back to form the pocket. Hand fighting is obviously not Pears's specialty. Pears is an average NFL tackle. Putting Urbik in looks like the last card that Marrone has to play so I don't know where he goes from here.

The penalty that needs to be addressed is defensive pass interference. If the refs are going to call it like it's going out of style then the mark off needs to be reduced. Maybe to the college rule- spot foul up to 15 yards max. I think holding is probably fine.

Universities would lose lots of $. Why would they ever support something like that? While I support the concept, it's a non-starter.
