Watkins is the only real play maker that the offense has. He has been seriously hampered by his injury the past couple of weeks and it's no coincidence that the scoring has gone into the tank in those games as well.

Earl was the man. Still the one back I would pick if I had to build an all time team. The guy was beat up and burned out quickly but for a few years, he was a force of nature and almost single handedly took the Oilers to the Super Bowl.

I agree with and am a strong proponent of sitting a QB for his first and preferably second season in the NFL so that he can learn the offense, defenses, professional preparation, etc. but after that I just don't think there is any benefit to sitting. The plan was for Manuel to back up Kolb his first year or two but it didn't happen. At this point he has gone through the initial growing pains with whatever damage to his confidence that they inflicted. I think the benefit from sitting now is strictly to get everyone off his back and to try and restore his confidence. I really don't think he's going to learn anything more about executing until he gets back in there.

I hear you and you're probably right about WR, although I always wonder when I see a team like New England throw the ball around so effectively with strong OL and QB and no WRs to speak of.

The problem with drafting a guard high is that you then have to pay him if he turns out to be as good as expected, and most teams don't want to pay OGs top money because they need it for the premium positions like QB, OT, DE, DT, MLB and CB. So, it's not that they aren't valuable, it's that premium guards don't typically fit into a logical salary structure for a team, IMO.

I love the guy. I see a bright future for him and the Browns. Don't forget the draft picks that they have stockpiled. If JFF steps in next season and plays big then a new power will have been born.

My position too. It seems that Byrd's agent outplayed the Bills to avoid that scenario and maximize his options. Anyway, it's done.

Nix was a much better GM than Donahoe. He took over a team that was much worse than the one Donahoe got and left a team that was better than the one Donahoe left. I don't see how you can say he was worse. In fact, I would say that Donahoe was the one that destroyed the team and sent it back to the stone age after many good seasons. He got rid of many good players and never replaced them.

I honestly don't think Manuel can learn all that much sitting on the sidelines. He's NOT a rookie, despite what some people keep trying to imply. He knows the playbook. Everything he needs to learn at this point comes from game action, and you can't simulate it in 30 minute sessions 2 hours before each game. I think he'll get another shot down the road, either with Buffalo or somewhere else. I wish him luck because that will probably be his last chance to make it in the NFL.
