The Pro Bowl Solution....or at least one...
Charles Romes replied to Marty McFly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I loved the pro bowl the way it used to be - AFTER the super bowl like the good lord intended. Helped wean me off of football. With the expansion of free agency and draft coverage since they dumped the old formula, there is a lot more material available the broadcast team could use as filler. -
NFL abandonment of St. Louis ups the ante in Buffalo

Edmonde was the doom and gloom guy that warned us for years that economic realities made it impossible for the bills to remain. Did he ever officially eat crow on the record when the pegulas saved the day. -
Toughest QB's of all time?
Charles Romes replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm a little shocked this has gone on for 3 pages with no one coming up with the answer since it really isn't close for second place. The sheep's clothing aside the toughest QB in NFL history is Eli Manning. He has never missed a game due to injury in 11 seasons. He won his team a title with his toughness alone (see '11 NFC championship). You don't see him fighting though injuries since he somehow doesn't sustain them in spite of being willing to hang in the pocket until the last second every snap. You don't even see him playing dinged up. Guy is indestructible. -
Larry Fitzgerald Total Class Act...
Charles Romes replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It has a nice ring to it that Larry put the team on his back and won the game for the cardinals. The Larry of 08 would not have been left wide open without a DB within 15 yards. The Larry of 08 would have easily broken the last tackle. Sometimes we let what we want to believe cloud our judgment. -
KC vs The Pack ? 50 yrs Later?
Charles Romes replied to dwight in philly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not that I watched the games but the historical data indictes the team was in rapid decline. Maybe the 64 or 65 teams could have given the NFL champ a run or won. The 67 team won 4 games and the 68 team won 1 game. The victory totals for the team from 64 to 68 were 12-10-9-4-1. -

NBA assistant to NFL head coach. Wow! Lombardi coached basketball too but that high school. Wonder if he has connections to lou saban's coaching tree from his time in buffalo. -

Turns 38 in September. I'm not the only one who has looked it up. -

Buffalo Bill - TV sitcom in the 80s about a talk show host (Dabny Coleman). Also starred Geena Davis. Critically aclaimed but did not get good ratings. -

Megatron to retire? (Update- he is done)
Charles Romes replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Megatron is weighing the difference between having a net worth of $50M and sure health for the next 60 years of life and potentially $60M net worth. For these giant contract guys early retirement makes sense. Kind of surprised we haven't seen one of the top QBs bail out of the game early. -
Surprising we've heard of no coaching staff changes yet?

Someone MUST be sacrificed as an apology to the fans for the D's disasterous performance. I can't see how Thurman stays. -
Is anyone else completely DELIGHTED...

I have moved on from being grateful and am now taking it for granted that they will be here. My sole focus now is the crown, playoffs first. -
Coughlin Out as NYG HC; No Eagles or 49ers Job

I like the way he refused to "retire" like they wanted him to but with class and professionalism. -

Rex and Pettine back together?
Charles Romes replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if we get gashed with the run we would be better just by not have 10 pre snap penalties and game and the players understanding what to do. -

The only important thing is that the owner that hires Doug has some positive numbers to sell to the team's fan base. First coach to win in buffalo in a decade. Brought syracuse, a bottom 20 program before and after him, into the top 40. Brought jags from 32 to 10. Turned Bortles into a top 10 QB. -

I want to see Marrone embarrass himself out of the league just as much as the next guy for the way he disrespected Buffalo. But the fact is there are plenty of positives in the jags offensive numbers Marrone can point to on the interview trail. He can even present himself as a miracle worker. 32 to 10 in scoring offense. Bortles up more than 20 points in rating and near the top the league (35) in TD passes with Marrone and Hackett. -
The "leak" here is really interesting and makes sense. The only way to motivate Mario for this one game is the leak. He needs to play well since he's being showcased. If he plays incredible - 3 sacks or something - we might even get a trade offer. 11M is a good price for a top 5 pass rusher which is what he was.

Looks like we'll have to draft a WR #2
Charles Romes replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will be impossible to attract a top free agent with a 2nd year QB and an offense that likes to throw 18 times a game. May be stuck with what we have, hope clay becomes the effective #2 and try to develop someone from scratch.
