QB Comparisons to Josh, QB's from the Past and or the Present ?
Shaw66 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall
Elway, for sure. Toughness, running ability, arm strength, accuracy, and a gamer. Favre was a loose cannon. Allen already has gotten his game more under control. Allen will be like Ben later in his career, when Allen stops running. Newton isn't on the same planet. Bert Jones? Really? Allen's a top 10 all-time QB and he hasn't peaked. There are not 10 QBs I would take ahead of him if I were building a team. Allen has it all, and there aren't many like him. -
Rest in peace, is it half of TBD or the 2025 Buffalo Bills?

The best thing about preseason is it identifies the people whose posts you can confidently skip during the season if they are coming up with hot take conclusions off the first preseason game. -

Veteran players approach pre-season differently, they might just be looking to work on things they are weaker at which might produce less results in a game. If you are leaning into moves and approaches that you are less effective at as a means to work on them you product might not be so good come gameday. I'm not saying that's what happened but rather there's a lot of factors to consider when watching pre-season games. -

Preseason record in Kelly/Super Bowl era: 1988: 1-3 1989: 1-4 1990: 0-4 (best chance to win it all) 1991: 2-3 1992: 2-2 1993: 2-3 Totals: 8 wins, 19 losses. Regular season record over those 6 years: 70-26 And the starters played a lot more back then than they do now. I vaguely remember talk that Gale Gilbert was looking better than Jim Kelly one year (Art Wander comment?). In the Super Bowl years they didn't run no huddle in preseason. As McDermott said in presser, on a scale of 1-10, how much game planning did they do? 0-1. Amazing reaction over the weekend. -

It is the first game of pre-season I would really calm down. I think last year showed that the Bills linemen do pace themselves well. This is a veteran D-line group. D. Jones is a 10+ year vet as Bosa is also going into year 10. Oliver, Groot, and AJE are in their 5th to 7th years they are well established "young vets". The backend guys who are rookies and 2nd year players (Walker, Sanders, Jackson, Carter, and Solomon) were the ones to watch and I think outside of Landon Jackson they are looked good to decent. The top of the line pass rushers the guys with 5+ years experience they aren't going all out in pre-season and they will look much different in the regular season. Now it is the case that the front 4 pass rush could be an issue. But I'm not ready to say it is an issue just yet based off one pre-season game... -

Elway was in danger of losing his job if he took another raw physical specimen at QB and failed. The unfortunate reality of the nfl is that a lot of decisions are not made for football reasons. -

While I think it's silly to project a season based off one preseason game but the whole "we didn't gameplan argument" is also silly. Neither are the other teams we're facing. It should be be a little bit concerning if our guys aren't winning 1v1 matchups in vanilla vs. vanilla gameplay. -

It's the death of the 3rd down whistle! -
Each? 🤨 * GMs and HCs are hard to come by. Practice squad guys are a dime a dozen. One goes down, it's just "next man up!" Your idea is better. Ralph might have been cheap, but he was no dummy when it came to shekels.

I think DeWayne Carter could be added to this list because we're trying to make him a NT when that's clearly not what he does best.

Drug are going to get more expensive, too! So much for no more endless wars, this is a war that will never end if it actually begins https://www.nytimes.com/2025/08/08/us/trump-military-drug-cartels.html President Trump has secretly signed a directive to the Pentagon to begin using military force against certain Latin American drug cartels that his administration has deemed terrorist organizations, according to people familiar with the matter. The decision to bring the American military into the fight is the most aggressive step so far in the administration’s escalating campaign against the cartels. It signals Mr. Trump’s continued willingness to use military forces to carry out what has primarily been considered a law enforcement responsibility to curb the flow of fentanyl and other illegal drugs. The order provides an official basis for the possibility of direct military operations at sea and on foreign soil against cartels. U.S. military officials have started drawing up options for how the military could go after the groups, the people familiar with the conversations said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive internal deliberations.
