We make these definitive statements based on chance outcomes where the ball happens to bounce one way. Could/should have 13 seconds easily have gone the other way? A missed open Shakir in the EZ followed by a missed FG two years ago. And then a missed spot on an Allen sneak last year... It sucks that these have all gone against us. But all these games were basically coin flips that could have gone either way. To pretend that this team has no shot and there is some sort of chasm between them and actual SB contenders is absurd. IMO it is simply a childish hissy fit- "I want my Super Bowl!!!"

It's been my take for a couple years that 2026 is the first real shot we have unless something wonky happens around the league. Baltimore likely missing the playoffs could be considered part of that, and it definitely would have had the Chiefs stayed in the gutter. Now, it seems they're back, so I'm mostly thinking 2026. We did a great job in this years offseason. Walker, Hoecht, and Hawes all look like they'll be big parts of what we're doing. Having a capable DE in Bosa is also proving to be a big upgrade. If Bosa stays healthy, he'll likely want a big raise going into next year, which would be hard to justify. Aside from that though, we should be in good shape. We'll go into next season with gaps at Safety, EDGE and potentially WR. Those are all things we can address in a super bowl run year IMO. Our trenches are mostly set, QB/RB mostly set. WR room has great depth and just missing a finisher. TE room has been reset IMO with the addition of Hawes. If Hairston can play, our CBs are good, and our LBs should be ok enough.

Can you imagine what this offense would look like without Cook. He has been the MVP for the Bills this season and that includes 17.

We'd shop at the discount bin at the 5 & Dime anyways. -
The Chiefs have 3 losses. They are good but to say the Bills have no chance is not realistic especially playing in OP where the Bills win the majority of their games. I expect a close game something like 31-28.

A Few Thoughts about the Panthers Game - Community Edition
colin replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
our passing o sucks right now. talent and scheme and blocking and josh is just all off. we are great when we go heavy jumbo and under center (when we mix it up so it's not all runs). like most green light qb's josh is less comfortable under center, but he's better under center (his stats show it, he just is comfortable being insane and running around and gunning). if we just pass more out of under C and jumbo to tight ends and backs our passing stats will jump like crazy. josh had goofy feet and two or three bad passes, but he tattooed two wrs (18 and 10) on the right sidelines for solid gainers and both guys couldn't just play wr and keep their feet down. if those two were caught his stats woulda looked better and we'd have had more downs to work with, leading to likely more passing production. we had the ball up 3-0 early at first and goal from the 9, but samuel lining up wrong (on a sneak, what was he doing?) and then wr's not getting open at all as josh bot a boatload of time lead to a big sack and fg instead of a td. shakir had two or three good catches including one absolute perfect run for nearly 60 and a tub, but aside from that the contribution of our WRs was like bottom of the nfl level. the run game is the best in the nfl, literally baltimore of 2024 levels. on d ed getting gimped sucks, but in that game we were out our starting S (rapp), both starting LBs, both starting DTs, and a meaningfully contributing rookie at outside corner (strong) and DT (sanders). so 5 starters all in the middle of the d and a top 4 outside corner and a 2nd round DT. we added in our 1st round corner, and our two FA roid signings. the players we replaced our SS, corner, and seemingly both LBs are simply better players at this point than our starters. i still have concerns about the D, but if we get dq and sanders back, a front 4 rotation of obiwan, dq, sanders, walker, and like jordan p at dt and de's of bosa, groot, aj, hoyt, whoever is a legit top flight unit. mcd should share defensive play calling with badbabi the same way J Lo shares the spotlight with her back up dancers. the juice from harrison, our lbs, hancock and even bishop was en fuego. -

it's nobody's faul carter, sanders and oliver are hurt. this team is just cursed with injuries to its defense. If all those guys were healthy it would be a pretty damn good group lining up every week. Of course though they are all hurt. -
This is an interesting take - and also could help explain some of Josh's 'low-positive' demeanor lately

I can take him... sign me up LOL -
based on his production so far this year, he may actually be underpaid

Objectively what do you see in this team other than Josh and Cook that makes you think this team can win it all. That's what fans want. Anyone can come in here and call out other fans for their opinions but you have to know that all anyone wants is just 1 Super Bowl. We've seen hope and then watched it get crushed for 9 years now after a 17 year playoff drought. I'll raise my hand and say I'm weak if that means I'm sick of mediocrity and wasting our MVPs prime.

Stop being so damn rational … we want receivers and we want them NOW 😂 -
My god, do you hear that? It’s Gabe Davis’ music!

If they do something like this it better be with the intention of signing him to a long term deal. If they give up a 3 they have to make him part of the team with a four year extension or something. That will keep his money down and keep him on the team. Everyone everywhere just doesn't care about draft picks because they have missed at wr but what if the next time they nail it and get a good player in the 2nd or 3rd round. That player will be cheap and locked in for 3 to 4 years. I hate the idea of trading picks for wr during a season but something is clearly not right at the moment with the passing game and Samuel and Palmer are always hurt so they need to do something. My biggest hope is it is someone who plays every week as a baseline. Allen does not want to take chances and throw balls to moore or samuel it seems at all so they need to do something. -
Weather Sunday afternoon, Sunset at 5:05PM, most of the game will be under the lights, temps low 40's dropping to high 30's, not showing a lot of chance of rain at this time light winds 5-10 off Lake Erie.

This is a rather concerning take on what is happening with Josh.

Virgil the heartfelt reflection wasn't flamed at all. it has reached 9 pages of mostly agreement and for reasons well stated already. You aren't wrong We are looking at the glass half full because we are knowledgeable fans. And even the most pollyanna of us (me) would be surprised to see this squad reach the Super bowl this year. Perhaps a Dub this Sunday against a strong KC team will awaken some hope. Im going to keep my expectations low and enjoy it for what it is. NFL football with our beloved team who as much as we doubt can MAYBE pull it off I've got to have some hope. And I will until we are eliminated. Go Bills

Say what you will, but Gabe is BY FAR the best offensive weapon sitting on any team's practice squad. I know because I looked at them all during the bye. So, if the Bills don't sign him to the 53 the second he comes off PS IR, some other team will.
