So, what we have established is that we have at least three different scenarios. -

Lions moved back. Cincy, Philly, Miami and Pitts all filled needs with perceived value. They going to 15 without a 3rd? I doubt it. Im not blown away by Flowers or JSN to think they are supremely more valuable than Kincaid. TE is a notoriously difficult position to translate from college. Advance metrics are still favorable for him even though he has not been prolific. If Keon plays like he did those few weeks pre injury I think none of this matters. -
Ehh I feel like the showrunners are the one’s not really getting the story here with this team. IMO focus should be on the veterans who have been so close about to try again. It’s still a TV show it needs compelling storylines.

The point is, none of us know what deals were to be made. I won’t assume the worst and cast blame when I don’t know what was driving them and what the obstacles were. They may have tried and nobody was moving. That happens sometimes, just like sometimes people are more willing. People do things for their own reasons, not because we want them to. -
I didn't see this posted, Bills sign Safety Tre Herndon

He was abnormally blunt when it came to Bishop yesterday. I think he is about done. If he can't get it together this year, I can see McDermott sending him packing. They are getting less and less patient with oft injured players -

Teams move up and down the draft board all the time, especially in the late 1st. You think teams are just icing out the Bills? If Beane wanted to move up, he could have, especially with the extra 2 from the Diggs deal. -
Just the name makes me want to puke. He was my #2 WR I wanted (#1 realistically)

We literally traded up for Kincaid in one scenario, and traded back for Coleman in the other. Plenty of deals being made. Especially back half of the 1st round. -

I see a lot of disagreements not a single counter point. Typical. Kincaid is on bust trajectory as of right now. Can he change that, absolutely, but the odds aren’t in his favor at this point. Coleman failed to impress, especially compared to all the guys I mentioned drafted around him. Sorry, I know, people are big on the hopium this time of year so the truth doesn’t really jibe with the vibe, I get it. Beane has routinely bypassed quality WRs and the only WR he has drafted in 7 years who is a quality NFL player and overplayed his draft status is Khalil Shakir. That’s it. I understand he has built a great O L, not taking that away from him. Point still remains, when it comes to DRAFTING WRs and apparently pass catching TE’s, it’s not what he does best. Im glad he resigned Cook however, and the fact that when he does get it right, he makes sure those guys stay in Buffalo. I just wish he got the WR position right, or tried to address it more often, rather than say taking Cody Ford ahead of AJ Brown and/or DK Metcalf. That one always gets me because they took Knox the next round so they clearly were scouting Ole Miss. -
If you combine Buffalo and Rochester it's actually a really really really good football area Like 15 division 1 recruits a year and some high-end ones Georgia bulldogs took a kid from Buffalo area last year, and Oregon actually has a presence in Rochester lol the number one football player in Rochester this year is going to Oregon

Fans make it sound so simple and easy. I’ve never played Madden or anything, maybe that’s where that comes from. It takes two to Tango. -

Thats really cool. Thanks for the actual info. I had no idea. I've never flown a plane, but I am an academic librarian so I tend to look up anything I encounter. I usually learn enough about everything to get myself in trouble. It's an occupational hazard. I have learned since I posted this that Buffalo has waypoints named WNNGS, EFFCT (I assume for lake effect) and FOTBL. LAX has one named KOBEE, and CVG (Cincinnati) has ones named NXHAL (for Joe Nuxhall) and CRSLY (for Crosley Field). I'll look up Washington later. There is a whole clever world hidden there that most of us have no idea exists but it's all on the public Internet for those curious enough to seek it out. -

Do you have it in you to admit wrong when the time comes? That is an exceptionally hard thing to do for your fellow lefties here.

The Bills fans’ penchant for lamenting players we never had well after the fact will never cease to amaze me.

I'm just glad the drama is over. He comes across very coachable so it wouldn't surprise me to see him continuing to improve this year. -

Sure, that's the classic line. But in one of those situations we traded up to get Kincaid, and in 2024 there were a ton of trades in the back half of the draft. The Jags picked BTJ at 23 after trading back with the Vikes who wanted to trade up. There were plenty of deals made. We just went the wrong way. -

Words never to be spoken by Bills fans until some kind of buzzer has gone off and the clock reads 0:00. I remember warning my kids it wasn’t over in a certain Music City Fiasco, and that was a lesson learned the hard way for them. But yeah, I expected a deal after the Chargers helped clarify the market for Mr Cook and his agent…… maybe even his brother. -

It’s pretty clearly the guys who are 0-3 in postseason games against Mahomes the last 2 seasons? Yeah, and Karl Malone was clearly the best basketball player in 1996-97. -

Someone has to want to trade you their first to make a deal. Just saying it doesn't make it happen. 31 other teams aren't doing you any favors. -

In his first seven years (college and pro), Dalvin Cook had 1,693 touches. In his first seven years (college and pro), James Cook has 927 touches. [At Jimbo's rate over his first 7 seasons (927 touches divided by 7), he averaged 132 touches per year. With Dalvin's 1,693 touches at Jimbo's 132 touches per year, that would equal 5.8 more seasons of touches for Dalvin, at Cook's rate...or almost 13 years worth of touches (rather than 7) at James' touch count.] In year two and three in the pros, James Cook averaged 260 touches/season. In years three to six in the pros, Dalvin Cook was averaging 314 touches/season (Didn't include rookie years because they both started off a bit slow/not representative of the rest of their careers) Plus, with Davis and Johnson sharing the backfield, the Bills never have to overwork Jimbo. Whereas Dalvin was always the main workhorse in his backfield. And the Bills are pretty smart about taking care of their players (not overworking, especially the vets or players coming back from injuries), so there is a good chance that James won't fall off a cliff at 27 like his brother did. Very happy for this signing. Yes, his blitz pickup isn't the best/he doesn't play every down (because we have guys with better skillsets for that), but I don't think you can underestimate a guy who can hit home runs. Sure his batting average might be lower than your lead off hitter, but when he crushes that 3-run homer in the 8th inning of a playoff game, you know why you have him and why the team is paying him what they are. Go Bills!
