Bills were in this position (6-6) a couple years ago. Bills won out and took the division. There is no division winning option for the Chiefs unless the Broncos should collapse harder than the Dolphins did that year. With the three wild card teams having four losses, even winning out doesn't guarantee them a spot. They lose head-to-head tie breakers with the Jags and Bills and I'm not sure how tiebreakers would look with the Chargers should the two teams end tied at 11-6. I'll be rooting for a Texans victory over the Chiefs next week but if that doesn't happen, a Texans loss will at least go a long way in helping secure the Bills a wild card spot.

While McDermott got here first, Beane occupies what is typically thought of as the higher position so that's a wash. But in terms of organizational structure they are essentially co-equals. Texans, Chargers and Broncos games are all at Arrowhead. Titans and Raiders on the road but those teams are legitimately as close to an auto-W as you can get in the NFL.
