It’s time to have an uncomfortable conversation about Taron
bmur66 replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Defense kinda looks like my liquor cabinet at certain times. -
They should have* let the whole thing die, but of course there is money involved. That’s all we need to know. The NLF Pro Bowl was reminding me of the NBA All Celebrity/No- Defense Bowl, or whatever they call it. *Not “of”, am I the only one who gets funny about that?

Well thats my point - Meyers isnt what we need. Its Olave, Moore, Waddle, maybe Shaheed -- thats the list, or we are moving laterally and giving up picks. Beane clearly hasn't had good success with the WRs lately. Gone are the Smoke Brown, Beas, Poyer, Hyde type signings --- now we have Samuel, Palmer, Rapp, and multitude of draft picks that look questionable.

I don’t care where you rank me. The sentence is grammatically correct but for a misplaced apostrophe. -
Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
NewEra replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just wondering why this has become obvious? Beane has made trades to fix his holes the last 2 seasons. What has happened this year to convince you of this? I can answer this for you: Ingrained negativity and hatred for the GM has Luckily you don’t have to worry about it because this trading Josh talk is just so insane Ty Simpson is the next Tom Brady….. got it. -
The quotes you pulled were directed at Trump dude, not ck. That’s what this was all about, you taking up issue I wasn’t condemning the ck stuff on here, no? Now it’s trump? I also said about the ck assaination, “Nobody should ever face this kind of despicable act”. If you want me to say much more than that idk what to tell you.

Plausible X/#1 receiver trade candidates — are there any?
DCOrange replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall
I would gladly take him if Baltimore is really considering it but I'm skeptical that's the case. I do think Bateman is pretty good though and would likely be our best WR. -
Everyone wants a new WR, but what's the asking price for Meyers? I think there will be several teams looking to trade for him: 49ers, Steelers, Pats, Pack - which will likely drive up the price, if they indeed trade him. Just adding "so so" level WRs is why we are in this mess right now. Meyers is above so-so, but there arent many options- most potential is Saints IMO, but Olave is going to cost alot + Shaheed is the exact type of WR Beane has ignored. Im not seeing it as arrogance, just that the roster is the roster right now. They our their faith in several young guys, WR and defense to be honest, and they haven't delivered.

Not saying the Bills are bad, but McBean has taken a Josh Allen/James Cook team and turned into an average team.

I dont think Beane is making any trades for a WR. This year is different--- 2 young guys Beane has hopes for & top picks (Kincaid, Keon). Factor in contracts for Shakir and Palmer, and to an extent Samuel too. Thats 4-5 offensive weapons that Beane put his investments into - unlike past years, where we didnt have quite that investment in pass catchers. Beane messed this up in the offseason/drafts, its going to take more than a mid season trade (unless Saints/Bears/Phins move on from a receiving threat). There are few names that fix it this yr: Olave, Moore, Waddle, maybe Shaheed but we probably won't use him correctly. IMO, it will be a small rebuild next offseason at skill positions. I think whoever the GM is next yr, will finally target a #1 type WR - but it will take some moves to fix the cap again.

Several people jumped on here, piled on in fact, with the notion that the Bills are bad or in need of serious talent upgrades. I'm not there yet. What I wrote about is how the Bills have looked through six games compared to what I've seen from some good teams in the last couple of weeks. The comparison doesn't look good for the Bills. However, as I've kept saying, the season is about winning enough games to be relevant for the first half of the season, and then being downright good for the second half and into the playoffs. I don't think the season is lost, not by a long shot. I think McDermott's overarching plan always is to have a team full of guys who are intense competitors and to put them in a system where, when they're all competing at a high level, the system makes them better than their collective individual talent. That's what he's trying to do, year after year. I think McDermott expects his coaches to build those competitors in a high functioning team in the second half of the season. What's troubling this season is that a lot of different areas of the Bills' game all seem to need to be turned up a couple of notches. It seems like it's more than a tweak here and there. They need a win at Carolina, and they need to beat the Chiefs. The outcomes of those two games will say a lot. We'll see.

I don't think Larry O's performance will determine anything when it comes to adding a Defensive Tackle. We've lost *three* DT's on the 53 since cutdown day. DaQuan Jones, T.J. Sanders, and DeWayne Carter. Sanders may be done for the year after knee surgery, Carter is definitely done for the year with an Achilles, and Jones will be down a number of weeks. When Carter went down, we didn't bring up another DT. We decided we'd roll with 4 instead of 5 and then called up DT's from the Practice Squad on a weekly basis for injuries. During that time we used all 3 of Zion Logue's callup's (until the Playoffs) and 2 of 3 callups for Jordan Phillips. Since that time, we've lost Sanders (3T) and now Jones (1T). Larry Ogunjobi will take T.J. Sanders spot as the off the bench 3T for Ed Oliver, as that's where he played in Training Camp and the Pre-Season and that's the spot Beane said he'd be at. But right now, we only have Ed Oliver, Deone Walker, and Larry Ogunjobi on the 53. We started the league year with 5 DT's, now we're down to 3. You need to have a minimum of 4 DT's on the roster. We need to bring up Zion Logue to be behind Deone Walker at 1T, regardless of Larry Ogunjobi's activation and performance.

Any Mafia folks know where to get a good cheesesteak in Philly?
Captain_Quint replied to Roundybout's topic in Off the Wall
John's Roast Pork has great cheesesteaks and great pork sandwiches. DiNics in Reading Terminal has been winning best in show for awhile. Phillips Steaks was my hidden gem in South Philly, somewhere like 17th & Passyunk. American or Cooper sharp with onions, as others said is the way to go. -
Joe Marino's 9 point plan for improvement
AlCowlingsTaxiService replied to D. L. Hot-Flamethrower's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wondered why this slump somehow felt different to me, and giving a listen to a couple of the more knowledgeable guests that Joe had on during the bye (I’m definitely not including Nate Geary 😂), I didn’t hear much in the way of unicorns and rainbows from them after breaking down the All 22. I want to be positive, but this team just isn’t right -

I should’ve clarified playing *healthy* His elusiveness is by far his top strength. I would actually rather face a hobbled Bryce Young than a 100% Andy Dalton that can complete the gimmes and hand it off to Rico Dowdle.
