Some Thoughts re Bills This Season and Miami Game
jahnyc replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have come full circle from the post-Kelly era. -
I think it's tough for a lot of people to pick up both what and how DT's are actually doing while watching live. I feel like DaQuan has been really reliable and pacing himself smartly so far this year, particularly with the noticeably high number of snaps he's being asked to play. He's been on the field a LOT aside from the 2nd half of the Jets game.

Falcons release Younghoe Koo, then thank him on Social Media
Sojourner replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
As long as they thanked him in person, nothing wrong with it imo. Guy had an up and down season last year for them, guess they’re thinking it’ll happen again? -

Didn't the chiefs only have 13 seconds ??? Oh nevermind....

Agreed.. but running backs are so underpaid, though changing, and they often only get one big contract like this, that to me it was different. One slip on the turf this year, without a new contract he would never get his due. I think that is why his team members did not just support him in the kind of general way team members do in these situations, but were quite specific in what they said. Such as Allen, and when he said those things I knew the contract would get done. Cook's success means Josh has more success. And gets things like MVPS--and championships.

Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?
BillsVet replied to BillsFan130's topic in The Stadium Wall
Lot of non-sequiturs and selective amnesia in your post, but this section is about as wrong as wrong can be. As in: 1. They had an offensive scheme, injuries or not, by Week 4. I'm just spit-balling, but that's what an OC spends his off-season and camp doing: designing and installing the offense. 2. No identity? You do know that players are acquired and a scheme installed during off-seasons? That's kind of what forms your identity. 3. "Everyone eats" was the mantra during camp. It didn't surface like a submarine in the middle of the season. 4. The GM traded for a WR for a reason. Was that because the 3rd round pick was burning a hole in his pocket? Was it because he liked the guy personally? Maybe it was because the WRs were just plain bad and incapable of getting open so Josh didn't get slammed onto the turf anymore waiting on them.. -
I don't know if this is a classy move by the Falcons, or piling on. "You're no longer good, but thank you for when you were good".

Up Hawes - an amazing upgrade on the third TE position as a blocker and catcher Kincaid - he's showing signs of becoming what we hoped him to be Walker - what a steal in the fifth; he's looking like he belongs Down Codrington - need more impact and lucky not to fumble the ball back to the Fins Davis - really hasn't grown on last year's reasonable performance. Is he injured? White - That third down...

Do The Bills Have A Passing Game Problem?

About the only problem with a weak schedule we have like this year, is iron sharpens iron so to speak. Were going to come across, and have already come across a good defense... but I am a bit nervous we'll see these softer teams all year, and when it comes down to crunch time, we'll be rusty - whether thats the players, or coaches strategy - with how well we are able to go back into air attack mode. I think that Lions & Rams game last year served us well to be prepared for that outcome. We got some of that in Baltimore game, but I hope we have atleast one more game where we need to stand in a phone booth and trade blows! -
It's more about personnel than coaching decisions.

I know Kirk very well. I have watched him more than you so you will not be able to have a more informed opinion. Kirk was anti-DEI. He was for merit based hiring. I don't understand why you are so against merit based hiring. If there is a DEI program, he knows not everyone was hired on merit based. In safety positions, in dangerous to lower the standard. He would not have felt uncomfortable with an airline that didn't have DEI policies because he knows that they went through the same hiring process. This is the BS that was falsely spread and why he was shot. How does this racist man have so many minority support? Let me guess, blacks who support Kirk are wrong? There are a lot of things about MLK that wasn't talked about in regular education and covered up. He did not say that about Black women. He was talking about Joy Reid, Sheila Jackson, Katangi Brown Jackson etc.... Kirk's point was if we were to say there were affirmative action hires, it would be called racist. But then they admitted they were DEI hires. He was criticizing their intelligence like political podcasters do ALL THE TIME. That's racist? How many times have people called Trump an idiot, stupid, moron etc...are those racist comments? I agree with Kirk, especially on Joy Reid, she is incredibly stupid. So is Rosie O'Donnell. So is Ellen. IMO. Am I racist against white people now? A columnist was fired from the Washington Post was fired after her article about it! Are you going to leave out that he First Responders Union immediately put in a No Confidence Vote for the Fire Chief? He the Rescue Units were ready to go and he didn't deploy them for 90 minutes. The Leader of the Union said they could have saved so many lives. It doesn't matter if he was 3 hours away, that's his responsibility. Plus, he was a DEI advocate. https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ctr68iUJ49x/?hl=en Kirk said the intent was noble, total agreement with that. That's not what is happening today. It is beyond what it's supposed to be. -
Fair enough, I am just going by my eye test, Groot looked OK against the run and not much of a factor in the pass rush. All 22 and more detailed analysis could prove me wrong.

Some thoughts below: 1. I think we need to at least give the coaching staff some credit for the lack of turnovers and relatively low number of penalties so far this season (and, with respect to turnovers, last season as well). Maybe it is mostly from the players, but coaching focus on taking care of the ball must also be a part of it. We do have a well coached team, even if there are things that continue to aggravate us, including clock management, challenges and our bend but not break defense. 2. What happens in terms of the roster when Max, Hoecht and Ogunjobi return to the active roster? Maybe there will be injuries and players going on IR, but if not, who gets released? 3. I think White still has great instincts and is strong in the run game. He had some issues against Miami, but the Bills generally do not have a lot of speed in the defensive backfield. I hope Max can contribute this season because he does have physical traits to be what is currently missing among the DBs. 4. Our mix of receivers on offense is interesting. Maybe the best overall group of TEs in the NFL and Shakir looks great again this season. I know that there is a lot of debate about our WRs, but I do think a WR who can stretch the field would further open things up for the rest of the receiver group. Not going to get one during the season. 5. Good to see James Cook getting more carries on a percentage basis as compared to last season. He looks great, and I assume this is conscious decision from the coaching staff. Unfortunately, Davis has not looked good so far, although it could be because he has not had an opportunity to get in a rhythm. 6. Listening to an interview with Douglas before the game with the Dolphins, it was interesting to hear him say that the Bills "do things the right way" and have an organized system that everyone in the building follows. 7. Nice to see that we are getting some contribution from our draft picks. Surprised about Hawes and disappointed in Jackson. Really thought that Jackson would contribute right away when he was drafted. 8. Shaq Thompson was a pleasant surprise last night against the Dolphins. He contributed, and hopefully that will continue during the season if he can get healthier and stay healthy, particularly if Milano is out for a longer than anticipated period of time.

Yeah, that's not about the yardage, that's about the change of possession.

Challenging a 5 yard gain on a 3rd and 4 is NOT wasteful.

I never believed these garbage shows that used to once be a unifying piece of Americana that liberals destroyed ever got the kind of ratings you think they did. I still think it’s lower then this: They were waiting for any excuse -
I'm going to guess Tua averaging a completion of -0.5 yards well into quarter 3 had something to do with this? He finished at 1.4 yards for the entire game on average distance for his completions.
