Preseason Week 2 - Post Updates Here
billsfan89 replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed, The Rams got off to hot starts from 2017-2021 despite not playing starters in the pre-season. So prior to the 3 game pre-season that trend of starters not playing had already been happening. Although I think with how wonky week 1-2 has been in recent seasons teams are rethinking that. Even the Rams the last three seasons have gotten off to slow starts. So I think teams realizing that the reduced off-season program are looking to get some work for starters in the pre-season so as not to come out soft to start the season. -

I'm not concerned with the legal timing as much as I am having Rice eventually be punished severely. I mean this guy did something so reckless, and illegal by racing 120 mph on a public road. It's just complete disregard for the lives of other human beings. There's actually two crimes here. The recklessness of course and then secondly he injured a driver, a mother and her child...he could've killed them, and this dude flees from the scene without even showing remorse or checking on their well being?! The victims suffered brain trauma, internal bleeding, facial lacerations, disfigurement and other injuries. If this guy was WR3 on the Jaguars he would've been released a while ago and justice would served fairly quickly imo. The fact he's the best WR on the Superbowl Chiefs is keeping him around as we all know.

I checked Dolphins board after their Lions preseason game and they seem to be extatic about their rookie class, esp. RB Ollie Gordon and DTs Kenneth Grant, Jordan Phillips and Zeek Biggers. -

https://fortune.com/2025/08/16/trump-tariffs-appeals-court-case-ieepa-authority-reciprocal-duties/ On July 31, a federal appeals court heard arguments in a case challenging the tariffs’ legal basis under the International Economic Emergency Powers Act (IEEPA), and the judges expressed deep skepticism about the administration’s side. In a note this past week, James Lucier at Capital Alpha Partners said a decision is expected by the end of September, but could come as soon as late August. A unanimous or near-unanimous ruling could give the Supreme Court cover to avoid taking the case immediately and reject the administration’s request to issue a stay that would keep the tariffs in place in the meantime.

Will Josh Allen Play Tmrw vs Bears

BEOTCHES! -
The Superbowl prospects come down to the defense. More specifically, Bobby Babich. The 2024 Bills defense was not very good. Some of that was personnel, but not all of it. I believe coaching had a lot to do with the defense's mediocre performance. In particular, what's the deal with their horrid third down performance? We also see third down problem in the 2025 preseason. Sure, Beane made some big personnel moves to improve the D, but will Babich take full advantage of his new toys?

what was the reason to play important starters “before anymore”? -
The Bills do have some flexibility if they are down Grable and SVP. They do have some veteran interior guys who I think they can PS and then call up. I think ideally they’d love to cross train Grable inside for insurance purposes but they have Green and they recently signed Dan Feeney, two guys who while not great would provide some short term insurance. They also hopefully will have either Richard Gouriage on the PS again and he’s been here in this system for two years and he has trained inside and they seem fairly high on Mike Edwards who I don’t see it but clearly they seem fairly high something different

What time do they stop serving breakfast at McDonald’s I want lunch -
If Josh plays in the game McDermott should be fired. I'm sorry. There is no reason to play any important starters in preseason anymore. They have enough reps in practice and scrimmages against other teams.

2nd Window for Superbowl Taking Shape
PoundingDog replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
In a broader sense, having a QB like Allen means you have a chance, not what I call or a window. I said earlier, there are other teams with a QB as capable as Allen to have a chance to win it all. I interpret the "window" term to mean a team loading up assets for a push to win it all; it won't let go any assets even though it probably mean better for the team in the long run or effectively "renting a player" (baseball term) for the short term purpose. In Bills case, signing Von Miller to a 6 years 100+ million deal, even at the expected 3 years effective life span of the contract for a 33 year old guy, is not something a team not believing it is about to win it all would do. Conversely jettering Diggs for a 2nd round pick, even though we had no one better than Diggs on the team at the time, is something we believed we were NOT in the window while the Texans believed that they were in the window. There are exceptions, of course, and plenty of them. Brady's 1st superbowl. Chiefs superbowl after trading away Hill etc. Last year Allen's unexpected step forward got us to the door step of a superbowl. The Bills extending all these players this off-season means they believe these guys are good enough to help Allen to get to the superbowl within those extension years, thus the window.
