Again Catholic Church To Excommunicate Priests for Following New US State Law Newsweek, by James Bickerton The Catholic Church has issued a warning to its clergy in Washington state: Any priest who complies with a new law requiring the reporting of child abuse confessions to authorities will be excommunicated. The new law, which will take effect on July 27, eliminates the long-standing confidentiality of the confessional, forcing Catholic leaders and lawmakers into a highly charged standoff over religious liberty and child protection. However, the Archdiocese of Seattle and several bishops argue that the law not only contravenes church doctrine but crosses constitutional lines, while supporters maintain it is a crucial step to protect minors from abuse. https://www.newsweek.com/catholic-church-excommunicate-priests-following-new-us-state-law-2069039 * I fully expect the usual suspects here to deflect from the State's unconstitutional law, by bringing up the Church' own scandal from the past. That they cannot see the point demonstrates their own ignorance.

Malaki Starks wants to pick off Josh Allen most
NoSaint replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
yup- we tell the stories that prove it and ignore the ones that don’t fit. Heck this thread uses a story from a Super Bowl as if the players would otherwise coast -
I am late to this thread but I have a report on the movie Sinners. firstly I went with the family on my insistence I see it in the theater to show the "Queen of Buffalo" and ladyfaire of our own #17 support. Because she is now Buffalo royalty I accept it I embrace it and I absolutely LOVE all I read and see from her. she is perfect for our #17 they both win the love LOTTO in each other I digress. hubby laughed at me sez " you wanting g to see her movie because she is engaged to #17 is So Buffalo of you my reply was "SO"? lol the movie itself was super well done. You didn't know what was coming or what to expect. They did leave to your imagination key scenes and were graphic in others. Hailey my gurl can ACT she is magnificent. How can one person have so many gifts? Right? again the perfection between she and Josh Allen I am not a fan of gore nor super horrifically bad blood gore movies necessarily. But this movie had it all IMO a band of brothers, history that unfolds, some love error lust connections, then it turns creepy really fast and you're like what's next. u never know. Cool ]movie. glad I saw it. Hope she takes on less bloody roles in the future It is 100% understandable why #17 is so supportive of her. She is GOLDEN. m

I can’t speak for anyone, but I think you guys are disagreeing with a lot of folks is because you painting a moving target. First, it’s “we can bring his cap number down in 2025” Then, its “3 for $45M is barely more than Taylor’s contract” Then, it’s “if we structure it like JT’s contract, we can avoid dead money” Then, it’s “if we manipulate the cap numbers, and add a void year, we can cut him 3 years from now and only be on the hook for 2 years and $30ish million” The reason why AAV and guarantees are used for shorthand e v a l of contracts is because they aren’t THAT different from team to team. Some contracts are more team-friendly than others, sure. But if I don’t think Cook is worth $15M AAV in this climate, then “if we structure it like Taylor’s it’s really only 3 for $30M but we have to cut him in 2 years” isn’t super compelling imo.

Seems to me they're fighting over Americans having to pay more - a lot more - for stuff.

Beane elaborates on the process of picking Josh Allen
julian replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
100% agree on Beane’s inability to find difference makers, it’s a BIG reason why they haven’t won a chip yet. On the other hand, Beane has been exceptional at filling out the roster with more good/very good players than maybe any other GM in the league. To be somewhat fair to Beane, finding Blue chip difference makers is very difficult when you’re drafting 25th or later every year, I’d say it also takes some luck. As someone else said in this thread, the Allen pick has cemented Beane’s legacy in Buffalo, but the full story of Beane’s legacy is still being written and if he doesn’t win a championship with Allen at QB his reign as GM in Buffalo will ultimately be seen as a disappointment IMHO. -

Excellent News Is Coming Out of Switzerland From US-China Trade Talks by Matt Vespa Day one of the critical trade talks between the United States and China in Switzerland is over. Progress has been made, though some in the media seem to be cheering for a total collapse of these negotiations. Politico especially is insufferable, with the headline “the US-China trade meeting’s low bar: Progress.” That’s a good thing, you guys. The real low bar is no one walking out and an ending the talks on the first day: President Donald Trump signaled Friday that his soaring tariffs on China may soon begin to drop. That doesn’t mean the two countries are close to a deal. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/mattvespa/2025/05/10/excellent-news-coming-out-of-switzerland-from-us-china-trade-talks-n2656874 Behind the Panda Mask, President Trump’s Trade Strategy with China is Crushing Beijing President Donald Trump is confronting the dragon behind the panda mask with precision. It’s very obvious the prior reconnaissance, trade probes and tariff tests of ’17, ’18, ’19, are paying dividends. President Trump has cut off the transnational shipping lanes by globalizing the tariffs against China. Beijing is in a forced holding pattern waiting to see the outcome of Southeast Asia and European trade agreements. Having spent some serious time in the field in advance of ‘Liberty Day’ all of my contacts have the same message; China is trying to find position. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/05/10/behind-the-panda-mask-president-trumps-trade-strategy-with-china-is-crushing-beijing/

What’s the deal with Winston and Cousins?
Sierra Foothills replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Saints are probably tanking. The Steelers are possibly tanking. And, trading for Winston after he could have been signed as a free agent? That would be an admission of incompetence. -

ah yes, fair enough, forgot about that really smart draft trade deal. so they could win a few this, help Stafanski keep his job (not a good idea IMO), and get a QB. I stand corrected. -
Trump ❤️ Tariffs
The Frankish Reich replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Vet starts small business selling a clever Shark Tanky playmat for high chairs. Product catches on. Manufactured in China, growing warehouse/supply business in Minnesota. Takes out SBA and personal loan to grow as she signs deal to supply Target and Walmart. Personal loan is secured by her family's home. Tariffs hit. Would have to pay $320,000 to get her next shipment from China. That's completely beyond the company's ability to pay. Inventory shrinks. Has no idea if the company will survive. Can't pay back loans with no future revenue stream. Now looking to see if she can go international - maybe sell in Canada, Europe (no special China tariffs) but that's a longshot. American dream/small inventor destroyed by silly tariff games. -

Sierra Foothills replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall
To the above, Exactly. Imagine the reaction here if Starks had said Mahomes or Burrow and someone posted that here. More or less outrage than this topic? Perfect. Maybe that's based on how old you are? You really believe that Lamar can't read defenses pre-snap or throw to his second or third read? As far as the "placebo effect": By most definitions calling it such means that it did actually have an effect. If it had no effect it would not qualify as a placebo. As others have pointed it out, there's no way to measure it HOWEVER, to say that bulletin board material NEVER has a motivating aspect to it is preposterous. Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't... case by case. -
He did have a tougher rating in 2023 pre injury. So not spotless. Gave up two TDs and averaged 50 yards per completion !!(8 completions and 47% so limited stats). Rookie season didn’t have any coverage and then new regime didn’t him like warranted or not. I would say it’s an open question if he can return to 2022 based on injury and 2023 regression in limited snaps.

Beane elaborates on the process of picking Josh Allen
Since1981 replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I appreciated that they put together stats for each prospective QB—it felt like a way to balance things out and ask, “If this #17 guy had a decent line or receivers, how would he have performed?” And we also have to accept that Beane got some luck too—just like Jobs, Gates, and Buffett. A big idea and a bit of luck go hand in hand. -
I think it's more that they want to give him as much time as possible to ensure it has healed. Not participating physically in rookie minicamp isn't making or breaking his season.

Here’s hoping that Buffalo will be selected as host for the 2028 Compensatory Draft Pick Reveal. Fingers crossed!

The Josh we all know and love. Even years later I have panic watching the dog pile growing in the end zone while his teammates rushed onto the field. I wonder if he was asked about his thoughts at the bottom of that pile... -
OH MY GOD…trannies and wh*res, wh*res and trannies…it is unreal how fixated you guys here are on the two topics of abortion and transgender rights, to the exclusion of so many other important ones like those that I had already mentioned in my previous post! How curious, indeed, it is to see the topics that might stir the most titillation rise to the fore of your conscience! I’ll return to abortion and transgender rights in a second, but first… Your conspicuous failure to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza I find most unconscionable. As soon as the first Gazan hospital was “oopsied” out of existence, you guys should have started to realize that Israel’s response to 10/7/23 was about so much more than hostages or self-defense. Read up on the 1948 Nakba, Israeli apartheid practices since 1967, Israel’s history of bad-faith negotiations since the First Intifada, the ongoing settler colonial violence in the West Bank, and the full details in South Africa’s ICJ report to figure it all out. Anyone who still can’t distinguish between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, or between Hamas support and Palestine support, needs to do more learning and less opining. 19 months into this genocide, both Netanyahu and Trump have replaced the ethnic cleansing dog whistles with foghorns. Take a public moral stance. That’s what Jesus would do. I admittedly have a patchwork understanding of the Bible. I’m genuinely curious to know which specific Biblical passages you all are using to formulate your stances on abortion and transgender rights? I’m sure they’re all super vague, however, and literarily crafted in a way that leaves them open to all sorts of biased interpretations reflecting more one’s personal bigotries than the decrees of God/Jesus… My opinion on abortion is rooted in science and sprinkled with practicality and respect for fellow women. I’m fine with a sentience standard for conferring personhood onto a fetus/unborn baby. France has the best abortion policy, so I would prefer we plagiarize theirs (limit of 15 weeks, constitutional protection, full list of exceptions to be adjudicated by health professionals and not law/order ones). The Catholic Church’s position against abortion in cases of rape is a big initial reason why I chose to quit the Church…something about two wrongs not making a right…ugh… My opinion on transgender rights is also rooted in science and sprinkled with respect for fellow humans who happen to be born a bit differently. Just as we have human sexual dimorphism with chromosomes and reproductive equipment, we know of the same with the morphology and functioning of the human brain. So you can think of the brain as a gender-determining organ just like you do the sexual reproductive organs, and all of these can be incongruent with each other at birth. I’m fine with transgender children fully transitioning, provided they have parental approval and sufficient levels of prior therapy. I’m friends with a few members of the transgender community. According to them, they knew they were different at extremely early points in their lives. OH MY GOD, LEH-NERD!! What makes you think Jesus in 2025 would be apolitical?? And why do you think Jesus would find Bernie to be such a malevolent force on humanity, one presumably far worse than Trump?! Your BOUNDLESS intransigence with me, no doubt, must be some kind of psychological defense mechanism worth exploring. Oh, and my imaginary dialogue? It’s just a posting technique I sometimes use to make my naturally haughty didacticism appear more invitingly dialectical. Do observe… You: “Hi, my name is Leh-nerd Skin-erd. I am a big fat smelly omnivore who enjoys meeting his daily protein requirements by slitting the throats of innocent defenseless animals. I probably hate Kay so much because I can never defeat her in a political debate. Her mastery of public policy is so superior and her posting content so substantive that I have to resort to a barrage of politician hypocrisy whataboutisms and other such non sequitur deflections. Kay is an egotistical know-it-all with an insufferably long-winded writing style.” PPP Subforum: “Woah!! Bruh…why do you hate Kay this much?? We happen to think she’s a great poster with lots of useful insight into the far-left political movement.” BillsFans.com Community: “May we briefly and randomly interject? We find her writings on Buffalo Bills history to be equally quite insightful.” PPP Subforum: “Yeah, and wouldn’t YOU have a bit of an inflated sense of self after so many of your friends keep telling you that you remind them of Hollywood star, Renee Zellweger??” You: “LOL…that’s not exactly advancing your argument, bruh…” PPP Subforum: “Woah!! Oh em gee, you’re such a shallow f*cking misogynist, Leh-nerd…on Mother’s Day, no less! No, we mean the young/pre-cosmetic surgery version of Renee…and minus the Bridget Jones movies when she had to put on a lot of weight for the role.” BillsFans.com Community: “Which kinda brings this conversation full circle, so to speak, since perhaps your underlying hatred towards Kay is due to the fact that you resent how her commitment to a 100% whole-food plant-based diet allows her to rather effortlessly maintain a ~19.3 BMI?“ PPP Subforum: “Indeed. And at that low a BMI, you can greatly expand your sartorial repertoire.” BillsFans.com Community: “Yup. All kinds of crop top options, too, which in the winter makes your fashion ridiculously chic and bad*ss. Certainly more chic than some musty, faded, overstretched Lynyrd Skynyrd t-shirt in which the imprinted lyrical “free bird” could operate as both a physical metaphor for Leh-nerd’s YOLO Dad bod torso and a conceptual metaphor for his dietary intransigence with Kay.” You: “Arrgh! Leh-nerd MAD! Leh-nerd FAT. Leh-nerd SAD. Blah blah blah FAIR SHARE! Blah blah blah HOW ARE YOU GOING TO PAY FOR IT ALL, KAY?! Blah blah blah BUT WHAT ABOUT JOE BIDEN?! Blah blah blah…!” < belches > < burps > << NARRATOR: In a fit of defeat-induced rage, Leh-nerd maniacally logs out of his Two Bills Drive account and storms off into the horizon. Hours later, a marauding cadre of misfit cannibals pick up a fatigued hitchhiking Leh-nerd off the side of a highway. In a terribly ironic twist of fate, they murder poor Leh-nerd and both literally AND figuratively cook him. This then gives the cannibals an idea to start a dietary protein business called “Soylent Leh-n.” Soylent Leh-n quickly becomes a huge success. The cannibals become powerful corporate oligarchs and exploit their hired labor as LITERAL consumption goods. There is no happy ending to this story, unfortunately, because STUPID Leh-nerd Skin-erd voted for the STUPID corporate deregulatory practices of STUPID Donald Trump. >> P.S. Just playin’ with ya, Leh-nerd. Have a great Mother’s Day! And remember: veggie chips, not paint chips!
