I can see how this might have worked, but that’s a lot to get over…..so it was never going to happen. To me, I have some very fond memories from my youth that are OJ related. The TV special when we drafted him was a great summer for me. I used to go to McMahon’s on Main Street on occasion with my parents on the same night he went there (Thurs or Fridays?). We’d ride by his house in Chapel Woods after games when he had a lot of the team over and yell stupid stuff out the car windows. None of this is meant to idolize him now, it was just some of the fun stuff from growing up. I’m a Bills fan, but I wear Bills gear, not jersey’s because I don’t look up to players like that. You never really know. If you never had them raised up on a pedestal, there’s not as much damage when they fall. Despite what came years later, those were good times for me and I won’t let anyone take that away from me because they hate him. Just one guy’s opinion when he knew he should have just stayed quite. 😊 .

Well said. Gabe Davis' ceiling is maybe 10% higher than Keon Coleman's floor. Davis is a WR4 / fringe WR3 talent who can get hot but is ultimately unreliable. I wouldn't swap him out for any of our top 5 WRs. Honestly I wouldn't even want him on the practice squad over KJ Hamler. Good on him for fleecing the Jags but he's mostly a product of the Josh Allen effect.

I'm just hoping they're comfortable enough to have him as the primary backup when either Benford or White go down. Benford and obviously White have had their fair share of injuries so I'm hoping Dane Jackson isn't the primary backup.

That's my take with regards to the season as well. I just feel differently about this because he's a rookie behind an established vet, so his opportunity to get 1 on 1 coaching about his technique and the trade secrets of the pros is definitely going to diminish when they are playing games every week. There will probably still be some, but training camp is huge for those reps and putting together a regimen for what needs to be worked on during the season. I'm not doom and glooming over it, but it absolutely has to have an impact on his rookie ceiling, and for a team that needs to squeeze out every last ounce of potential in order to take the next step, this sort of thing matters. We already know what the floor and ceiling are without Hairston. He's part of the attempt to raise them.
