And here comes the unemployment https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/01/weekly-jobless-claims-surge-to-241000.html Initial unemployment claims posted an unexpected increase last week in a potential trouble sign for the wobbling U.S. economy. First-time filings for unemployment insurance totaled 241,000 for the week ending April 26, up 18,000 from the prior period and higher than the Dow Jones estimate for 225,000, the Labor Department reported Thursday. Continuing claims, which run a week behind and provide a broader view of layoff trends, rose to 1.92 million, up 83,000 to the highest level since Nov. 13, 2021.

To me even more than the WR position, the biggest miss was not adding a LB better than Bail Inspector and I'm sure Chris Paul was the pick at 173 until the Rams snaked them. I can't think of a weaker link on the 53 based on ability and availability.

That would be the politically correct thing to do. Me personally, I like that he spoke his opinion without fear. It was an honest take on his part and I prefer that to holding back what's really on his mind.

I unequivocally agree with you. They’re both punks and Dibeeosi has a face worthy of punching. -

I'd say only because he also returns punts. But if Shenault can do it, or another player can, I think that what he offers at his position gives him the edge over Codrington and he had a higher KR average with a return TD. -

I couldn't agree more. He is incredible and we are blessed to have him. But I need elevation in that moment. The great ones always do. -

I agree. None of the WR/TE group are standouts on their own but they’re ALL of decent ability. I’m guessing everyone will eat again in 2025….which can be very difficult on the opposing defense. -

Moore looks like a good signing and adds another element to the Bills offense. I wouldn't go so far to say adding him makes the WR group a strength but it also means the group is no longer a major weakness either. My expectation is one or two of these guys, Samuel, Moore, Coleman, Palmer, outperforms this season. Add in Allen's MVP level play, a healthy Kincaid, and some additional flexibility in play calling and formations for Brady to work with and the situation things look very good. With Cook's status the only big negative left. -

I think it's more accurate to say it forces Beane to decide which other position(s) he should spend big on? Beane's choice has typically been to spend on an Edge rusher. In addition, he has spent a lot of cap money on the D-line in general--it's a long list of folks he's signed to one-year contracts to bolster the DL over the past several years, with mostly average performance. This year he finally decided to make a major investment in bodies through the draft, in a draft that was loaded with talent across the line. A wise move. I think he also tried to address a weakness that was made glaring in the AFCCG, depth at CB. Benford's injury was a major reason they lost that game. At any rate, wrt to the WR discussion, I think with this addition, the group is stronger than last year's. -
Teams that had bad offseasons: Atlanta - did very little in FA, overpaid for Floyd and Diablo. However, their draft was quite solid. Bengals - nothing to address 0-line, pay a ton to keep Higgins, and their defense is still poor. Drafted Stewart who had no production in college, and nothing else stood out from the draft. They are wasting Burrow's prime years with bad management Browns - bad FA signings, and draft was a cluster Dallas - very middling, expect another 5-7 win season Jets - Fields is your hope and you draft TE early second with other more important options on the board? Expect them to be bad again

Yes it is. Is it easier to take one step back and catch a ball or to run 15 yards down the field and shake a corner? You know that. No reason to dig in. They had high separation scores and ran a ton of routes conducive to a high separation rate. Both things are true. That’s a credit to Brady more so than anyone. He designed an offense that scored lots of points despite some clear blind spots / holes. They have added Palmer and Moore to gain separation. They have won with route running and further down the field. That will open up more of the playbook. That’s a positive. -

If Cook is such a great player, then why don’t the Bills want to sign him to a second contract? -

just need him to separate and get open when in that crucial moment. -
Same here. We're in a golf community, and there are a lot of kids driving those things. Most of our streets have minor inclines, and I've see those kids rip down the hills right through the stop signs. I've express the same concern as you. I think it's only a matter of time before there's a serious incident that results in injury (or worse). As far as the Elway accident - was the guy standing on the back of the cart where the bags go? I'm not quite understanding the scenario. I can't picture him sitting in the seat, falling out from the side, and hitting his head. If he was standing on the bag carrier, or if there was a rear seat kit, I can see how someone could take a tumble if he wasn't prepared for a sudden acceleration. Regardless, it's a freak accident that I'm sure will haunt Elway for the rest of his life.

Isn't getting open, getting open? If all we did was throw short screens, wouldn't a defense get hip to that and move up closer? I was taking issue with you saying we couldn't get separation, period. I know what your argument is, and I agree that it would be nice to have another option as a "downfield separator", I'm just going to get too worked up about the strength of our team. We had a dominant offense, swapped Cooper for Palmer, who knows how that will work out right now, but based on our offensive track record I am optimistic. Now we added Moore to the mix, I think he could pop a little as a WR 4/5. Samuel and Kincaid hopefully actually healthy. -

LEBills replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yea I agree, that’s why I included other players that have not made the pro bowl. I was trying to be as charitable as I could to Beane and the other options for best player drafted since it’s a bit of a short list. Idk what Cook will make on the open market. But Michael Pittman, Deebo, and Calvin Ridley all make more than Saquon. Positions get valued differently in the NFL, but that is a different conversation than best player. -
Damn, I've got nothing that isn't cruel or stupid. Do you have any neighborhood cats you could entice to hang around the immediate area of the tree?

Or Beane thought no WR after rd1 was better then the free agent he was already negotiating with. These weekly conversations with WGR don't come with an obligation to reveal everything Beane is working on.
