Elijah Moore Visiting the Bills today (Update: Signed!)
Bleeding Bills Blue replied to bills742's topic in The Stadium Wall
His playing time will likely go down here , but it's not as if post-draft WR opportunities are plentiful either. Lockett signed right before the draft, but the amount of jobs goes down significantly post-draft. Then factoring in which of the potential available jobs are not... teams like the jets and browns, and what you might be able to even carve out as a role - there really weren't a lot of spots for him. -
Of course and to just poop it out right at 8pm across the board is really dumb. Just the same, it'd be pretty dumb to make it an unveiling show going week by week as they unveil it to generate engagement But still that'd be really cool to have that the case. They start and go week by week with interesting matchups and how it will play out for each team at the weeks go by.

Wide Receiver Train Full Speed Ahead- CHOO CHOO!
LEBills replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ok I’m not sure we had an offense last year everyone thought was truly a “top offense”😂. It’s also a good idea not to live in the past and assume our offense will be as good this year as it was last year without more talent. There are lots of ways to win a championship. Some of us think adding to the offense is better, some of us think adding to the defense is better. Like I said before, most of us were happy with the first three picks because we know the defense can improve. I’d say the biggest argument in this thread is Beane could have managed the later part of the draft different to get some young talent added to the skill positions for Josh both for this year and for years down the road. -
What is your favorite totally random Bills game?
TheBrownBear replied to T.E.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
This was the exact game that came to mind for me too. Jeff George came in with great fanfare as the #1 draft pick, and there was a thought it could serve as a preview of a future rivalry between the teams if he turned out to be the real deal. Like you said, we harassed him all game and he didn't have much around him talentwise, but he hung in there until Cornelius Bennett rearranged his mental state early in the fourth quarter. I remember how euphoric the stadium was when he got knocked out cold (obviously, a much different time). What a terrible way to start in the league (even worse for his folks in the stands hearing the crowd erupt over the pummeling of your child). -
6'4 240 my ass he's 220 at best. Will never like this pick. A TE needs to be big enough to absorb the hits so he can play 4-5 years before being spent. He's a luxury #2 TE because he can't block.

Is there an NFL team with a weaker WR group than the Bills?
Mikey152 replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
your PS is a lie...or at the very least overexaggerating because it fits your narrative. Josh had two excellent three game stretches, from an efficiency standpoint. One was the first three games, and the other was SF/LA/DET. They're super comparable in everything but quality of comp and attempts. Cooper had a nice game against SF. Against SF and Detroit he didn't even get 50% of snaps and had 3 targets total for 12 yards. I think the problem is more with your assumptions...That the reason they were more conservative was because of the WR talent. Ordinarily, more conservative should correlate with reduced scoring. But if ANY coach can become more risk adverse AND score more points, who wouldn't take that? Less passing and more scoring is a good thing. I know there is concern about rising to the occasion in a shootout, but I think the ability is there. Looks at the Rams and Lions games. -

Motorin' replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Should had never lost to the Texans or the Rams. We had the tie breaker over KC when we beat them. We find a way to beat Houston and LA and we're going into the final game of the season playing the starters against the Pats and a W means the #1 seed. -
The NFL does lots of annoying things, but the schedule release delay and pomp and circumstance is the worst.

Looks like he pigged out on rice crackers

He probably lost weight due to his injury. The problem is naturally putting on 20 lbs. of muscle take a lot of time. Not four months.

For anyone worried about space next year - there are multiple built-in levels to people’s contracts to restructure that will open up probably $30-$40 million every single year. Number one on that list is always Josh Allen. Then wee at 50 mil in space before any other extensions or cuts that save money

4D Chess, transitioning to WR.

Who is our worst match up in the AFC as of now?
QLBillsFan replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Certainly possible. The Ravens will be extremely difficult in the regular season. In the post season LJ more so than JA he has a lot to prove. -

HappyDays replied to Pete's topic in The Stadium Wall
So I guess I don't necessarily care about total passing yards. I was just illustrating that although you said a lack of WR talent didn't impede us, the clear decline in volume passing stats and passing success rate is an indication that it in fact did impede us. And of course wins are what counts. Especially playoff wins, where the Bills have now fallen short two years in a row because no one other than Allen was able to make a play at the end. This past AFCCG Cook made a clutch play to score a TD on 4th down. We need more of that from the players around Allen because those moments more than season-long stats are what win championships. When we were leading by 1 with a chance to go up by 8, our offense stalled out on 4th down because we were forced to try and drag ourselves downfield a few yards at a time. On the final offensive drive Cooper slipped on a 3rd down WR screen that should have been a 1st down and more, and then Kincaid dropped his clutch moment on 4th down and the game was over. All of the pretty looking season-long stats meant exactly nothing when we needed someone to come through in those moments. It's funny you say wins are what count except to fantasy football people, but your whole argument is that our PPG means our WRs were good enough. My whole point is that what I'm talking about doesn't show up in any stats. It shows up in moments. Isn't it obvious? I'd have traded a 2nd and a 5th for DK Metcalf. His contract would have effectively replaced Diggs' contract which Beane had already been accounting for as part of the future salary cap before Diggs went scorched earth. That's the type of player this offense is missing, a true #1 that creates explosive plays downfield. And yeah that would have meant sacrificing a couple of our defensive signings and probably not extending Bernard. I'd have easily taken that trade off. But we'll find out if Beane's strategy was the right one. -

I don't know we ever had a defense though where people felt it was a "top defense". We also can't live in the past and also not live in this notion that Josh can still keep doing more. That was a different defense in Fraziers gross bend but don't break soft defense and we were missing our best player on defense that year in Tre. Thats like saying well Elam didn't work out so we should never draft a CB again in the first round. It has no relevancy on today...there are not even many players on this defense from that 2021 team. We were the 16th greatest offense in NFL history this year despite the offense coasting whole quarters and halves in our NFL record number of blow out wins and Josh sitting week 17. Asking the offense to be even better is a ridiculous expectation when meanwhile our defense was bottom of the league in first downs allowed and 3rd down conversions. What is more achievable ask and more realistic to see a noticeable improvement? Also...the top 10 offenses of all time only had 3 teams win a SB, none of the top 4 either. In fact, the top 2 (2007 Pats and 2013 Broncos) got shut down in the Super Bowl and lost to conservative offenses with top tier defenses..numbers 3 and 4 didn't even reach a SB. So more offense has not been the answer historically either. -
Ranking The Last 25 Years of Week 1 Opening Games
Southern McButterpants. replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall
That game is memorable for me in a different manner. On the pre-game show, Warren Sapp said something along the lines of, "I don't like any of their (the Bills) off-season moves." As the clock was winding down and victory assured, I tweeted at him, "How do the Bills offseason moves look now, Warren?" He actually replied with, "They playing well." My son then retweeted the convo with, "My dad calling out Hall of Famers on Twitter." Closest I've been to "going viral." Lol -
I loved the pick of Kincaid in 23. Bummer of a season in 24. The idea was he needed to bulk up to handle the physicality of the nfl. He looks so skinny. Did he even look at the weight room since the season ended??

Thank you for your perspective. And i dont want to come across as an expert- as i said before there are no experts in this field and if they did exist, i would not be among them. It is apparent that my concern has rubbed many the wrong way, and for that I apologize. My original post addressed what my lingering concerns were. i could cite specific couples i have worked with that faced similar issues but my post would long and many details i cannot divulge because of privacy. So we are just going in circles. what i can assure you is that i am not a robot/bot etc, i am a real fan of the bills since i was a kid in the mid 80s. I rode the highs and lows evey qb from kelly, to jo losman, ej, fitzmagic, flutie etc. no we have the greatest qb in the league who is an amazing person as well. He carries the weight of this city on his shoulders. I just dont want feelings at home to be heavier than the emotions on the field. My fear isnt what she has done (very little) to what her willingness to do those things may mean in the future. once again, i apologize if my thoughts were out of line.

Typically at home they lose one you are not expecting. That may be my pick this year for the reasons you said, especially if that game is earlier in the year and the secondary/d-line is figuring itself out. The game in 2017 was a straight up shootout and could see that again.

Drought era, but I'd still consider it a "classic" for all the reasons you state. I was there as well and it was my California girl wife's first Bills game. She wasn't a football fan, but LOVED it, and asked "Is it like this every week?" -
2022 Week 10 vs. Vikings is one of my favorites even though we ended up losing. Two top ranked teams playing peak football. Circus catches by Diggs and Jefferson, Improbable twists, excellent commentary, It was just great football to watch.

This was a memorable one for me too but for a little different reason. I was watching the game at a bar in Depew and remember that when that snow rolled into the stadium late into that game it wasn't doing anything up north where I was. However by the time I left the place, 20 minutes or so after the game had ended, the system had moved to my location and it was a rough ride home.
