Are Fan Expectations Too High for Keon Coleman?
Buffalo716 replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Better than DK? With a higher percentage of contested balls I'm pretty sure players are allowed to improve -

Weird, seemed to me that all private business were open yesterday. As for "too many holidays" - not too many, but it's time for a re-do. New Year's Day: never got why it was a holiday. Some pagan thing? An excuse for taking a day off after NYE revelry? Get rid of it. Use that day to make Dec 26 a holiday like the UK Boxing Day. Makes more sense. MLK Day: a worthy honor. But the date is bad, just as people are returning to regular life after Xmas. Honor MLK for something that happened during the great federal holiday lull of March/April. There's gotta be some noteworthy date. President's Day: all will be fine when the Super Bowl finally lands on it's obvious spot of the Sunday of that weekend. -- MARCH/APRIL: find a nonreligious excuse to make Easter/Passover a holiday. Or just call it the Easter/Passover Spring holiday. Or put MLK day there. We need a holiday in this time of year. MEMORIAL DAY: needs to be merged with Veteran's Day. A good traditional start of summer day, so keep this one. JUNETEENTH: Who can complain about an extra 3 day summer weekend. But maybe move it to a Friday or Monday closest to June 19? 4th of JULY: no messing with this one. LABOR DAY: brackets summer too nicely to change. Weird that some anti-labor group hasn't lobbied against this. COLUMBUS DAY: controversial, kind of weird (didn't "discover" what is now the USA), bizarro kind of Italian St. Patrick's Day in the NE. Another fine landing spot for that MLK day that we should move. VETERAN'S DAY: Armistice Day, but nobody pretends to celebrate that. So it's a weird non-moving Nov 11. Merge it into Memorial Day and for goodness sake just make the Friday after Thanksgiving the extra late fall holiday. CHRISTMAS: see Boxing Day.

Just feels like this should be the biggest issue in the United States right now:

Side note - we used to be taught in America that in regimes like the Soviet Union or North Korea, if anyone fled and saw what was happening or had happened in the real world, they would have absolutely no clue about any of it. Having been fed revisionist history their whole lives. What if that is us:

Keon drops 60 in Damar's celebrity basktball gam
Augie replied to stevewin's topic in The Stadium Wall
The NBA is “different” now. With an 82 game season and the huge dollars involved, these guys aren’t giving 100% until the playoffs or some rivalry game. They could play defense on a Tuesday night in Charlotte, but from our experience that would be too much to ask for. We took our kids to a Hornets game (among many others) in return for good behavior during boring things a kid would not appreciate when we traveled, like visiting our friends. It turns out the NBA game was also boring. Just a few minutes in my scrappy little AAU point guard turned to me and said “they’re not even trying!” Yep, last game I’ve attended and one of the last games I even watched, and this goes back a couple decades. If they cut the season in half, which will obviously never happen, maybe they could be bothered to give a bit more effort during the regular season. But there is zero doubt in my mind that in general today’s athletes are clearly superior specimens. . -
I think Lamar Jackson is a great QB. I think Cam Newton was a below average QB. Which category does this fit in?

Has anyone seen this movie yet? Im still in awe of the skull tower scene. 20-30 minutes that I was completely frozen. That, and the low-tide land bridge scene, are two of the best film scenes I’ve witnessed in years.

Josh Allen is going to do to Natrol what Michael Jordan did to Nike. Pretty soon kids are going to be fighting over taking Natrol and going to sleep earlier. Josh Allen is going to help parents have more sex now.

I don’t think he’s racist either. But oh man when you’re the party that constantly gets accused of it, his “excuse” of not having self control gets old quick when he picks Juneteenth to say there are too many federal holidays. And I believe things like that help light the fire of the extreme MAGAs (the small minority who do wave swastika flags along side their Trump flags), the same way when he says “fight” those pinheads do just that, literally and not in the polls. At some point he needs to realize he’s a grown adult and his toddler-level lack of self control hurts the country. He might not have self control, but he isn’t stupid, and he knows what he’s doing. And that - to me - is unacceptable.

What Does "Due Process" Mean?
The Frankish Reich replied to The Frankish Reich's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't know where Stephen Miller got his law degree,* but the constitutional guarantee of due process has never been limited to citizens facing criminal charges. That's why the U.S. government can't deprive someone - anyone - of life, liberty, or property without due process of law. Life. Liberty. Even property. It's kind of right there in the 5th Amendment. *Trick question: he doesn't have one. -

I don't know, Kay, because while Iran was potentially compliant during v1.0, they clearly were not compliant after being compliant. In addition, it seems logical to question the arbiters of compliance, given Iran's wax on/wax off approach rot being good international citizens. It seems more likely to me that they are playing a big game, moving forward with the intent to secure nuclear capability. Ah, so you were not talking at all about the US government/intelligence apparatus covertly encouraging regime change. It seems to me that a fundamentalist regime like Iran would not be comfortable as all with allowing the Tok (et al) and western decadence into the homeland. CKA shows way too much skin for the average extremist, I would think, and they view that as a whorish non-negotiable and far beyond the pale. Maybe, though. As to Israel, you've beaten that drum loudly and clearly, and at some point to me you cross from sensible citizen of the world to...well, to something I'm not interested in debating.

Everybody can say what they want about Cam Newton The dresses weird he's a clown etc But he absolutely has a friendly high energy personality.. he was always known as a terrific teammate to his own guys His charity has given over 5 million dollars to schools He's been Carolina Panthers Walter Payton recipient He holds football camps for kids through high schoolers He's not out there beating up his wife or kids.. he's not out there driving 115 miles an hour crashing and killing people.. not drinking and driving... Cam Newton is a legend in Charlotte and changed plenty of kids lives.. that alone makes me not dislike him
