I’ll go one further on your point regarding their drafting. They tend to draft very closely with the consensus of the major mock drafters. If there’s a player who has “slipped” versus his draft projections, the Ravens tend to draft him. Then when that happens, the narrative is that Baltimore made a great pick because the people pushing that narrative were the same people who had projected him to go earlier.

Millions of other people who could not possibly care less about the NFL will tune in to watch the Half Time show. This is how the Super Bowl went from a big football game to the single largest cultural event in the nation. Under Goodell's leadership, the Super Bowl is the most watched event in the country and the NFL is the most valuable professional sports league in the world. I think they may know something about effective marketing.
