9/18/25 GAMEDAY Bills vs Dolphins Gameday Thread TNF

I’m weighing up whether to stay up and watch or not. It’s hard yakker this time of the season to essentially sacrifice a night’s sleep. Even more so it being a Thursday night game which tend to be mediocre at best. Whatever. Enjoy the game and result now matter how you plan to watch. Go Bills. -
As a football fan, I am really looking forward to DET vs BAL. I really don’t know what to expect, but I do think it’ll be high scoring. The last time the Lions played them was in 2023 and they got slaughtered. This one will be much more competitive IMO. Obviously rooting for the Lions.

Roll call Miami at Buffalo. Who's going?

There is no free parking. It gets cheaper the farther away from the stadium you go in the private lots. You will always be able to get free food from the fine Bills fans at the thousands of tailgates. -
By the way, and I know it’s early but despite some people saying we struggled with the Jets Defense, James Cook is on pace for 1,400 yards rushing and 500 yards receiving , Coleman 1,100 yards, Palmer over 900 etc. A lot of that has to do with Allen but I’d hardly say that’s disappointing. This doesn’t include a slew of others who would be on pace for 500-700 yards as well

The 2022 draft was really solid but I always considered Elam a real head scratcher from go for the Bills - he didn't seem to have traits that the Bills utilized and in my opinion was not a day 1 or 2 talent - he was a terrible, terrible tackler, was awful at getting off blocks, lost his man way too frequently in coverage, and never seemed to be coordinated with the rest of the secondary (don't get me wrong Napier's teams are poorly coached so there is definitely that). He did make some great plays from time to time, but he wasn't ever consistent and teams actually went at him knowing this. Probably one of the most overrated Gator prospects ever (I know, I know Anthony Richardson and Kadarius Toney would like a word). I thought he was a liability watching him play for the Gators and I think the best tape he had was the season before he was drafted, but I'm really surprised so many teams had him rated so highly after an uneven season. Athletically he has all of the tools, but the evidence of how he used them was there for everyone to see. I remember being very low on him entering the draft and even calling him the most overrated player in it, and a guy that I hoped the Bills would stay away from. When they drafted him I trusted that they knew what they were doing and tried to rationalize that Napier's staff were and still are awful at Xs and Os and teaching technique (not so much now on the Defensive side - although they are much more talented than they've been in the past few years), but when they were reluctant to put him out there and started Benford it was clear that they realized pretty fast that it was the player as much as the coaching and other factors. Benford was a great pick, but Elam was an equally awful one. No one hits every pick, not even close, but it does make you wonder how in depth teams evaluate players, because I'd like to think they are thorough but at times its pretty clear that they might sell themselves on things that are overlooking the obvious.

I'm reaaaaaally trying to not be overconfident I am failing The Bills have a schematic advantage in general, it's a night home game, the Dolphins O line and secondary are shredded and it looks like McDaniel has lost the locker room. GO BILLS -
You answered your own question. The AFCW has finally caught up. Broncos, Raiders, (not good enough to win the division, but good enough to steal a W from KC) and most of all the Chargers are starting to close the gap. Chiefs coasted a long time with an easy division and 1st round Bye. How many teams who started out 0-2 went on to get the 1 seed ? Even the odds of winning their division are cut drastically. I am giving Mahomes the benefit of the doubt by saying they’ll get the Wildcard. Any other team I would write them off from the playoffs altogether with the way their roster looks. Especially a team with an 0-2 start and soon to be one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.

I enjoy the games he calls, there's something about watching football on mute.

After tonight I will be cheering for the Lions.

I think it’s a combination of things but primarily reflects Allen’s maturity and understanding what can lose you football games.

Pride precedes the fall while hubris is unattractive and a weakness. Humble and hungry, stay focused, buckle up and take care of business. Big game, important game, big game. Go Bills!! -

I watched the rewind of the Jets game last night and focused on Hawes. He is nasty and persistent all the way through his blocks. He is a problem for other teams to match up with. -
i ***** hate you because you're a troll and generally do not respond to you. and for those that are now coming here for the first time because they think their ideas are unique and must be heard... you're not special. and you do not understand what chi, billstime, and a few others are truly about. roundy is a psuedo troll, as well but he will engage in convesation just destroy integrity. hello hypocrisy. it sucks when the pendulums swings back against you? it always swings back. and it's getting a bigger swath and it's getting bigger swings. leftists have forever been ignoring the double standard swing back and when the right does it than "republicans pounce." but now, empowered by Trump's boldness the GOP is doing the same reaction. From harry reid's nuclear threat of the high court to this "cancelling" we are seeing just how terrible the hypocrisy is... we can include other things: obama's deportations, ukraine/israel double standard, blm/riots/peaceful protests....

what egg did this team lay last year? -
Agreed. Can't look over the fact that when Brady took over as OC Allen's fumbles and INTs are career low last year as well. Is that Allen getting mor mature or Brady Offense not putting the ball in harm's way?
-
100%. Adulthood is coming to grips with the fact that you as a fan have absolutely no bearing on the course of the game. This is also why I don't get overly upset anymore when they loose, cause it's not like it's my fault!

Shakir is the most essential player of those 4 to either team, because he is such a big part of the Bills underneath passing game. That's their bread and butter. Rice has statistically had the best season of any of the 4, but off-field conduct and injuries have made him largely unavailable for some time now, and I don't think any team would be wise to take on that. Worthy is a deep threat and RAC threat if he gets the ball in space, but he is a worthless blocker and we'll see if durability and nagging conditions start to become issues as he works back from the shoulder injury as sometimes happens with diminutive WRs (not saying that will be the case). I think the jury is still out on both Coleman and Worthy and what they could be. FWIW I think Coleman has been on the wrong side of some really bad refereeing - the last 2pt conversion attempt vs the Ravens was DPI and holding (take your pick), and the OPI vs the Jets was a trash call because the Jets' DB tripped all over himself and the ref assumed it was bc of Coleman pushing off. However, I think Coleman also has the highest ceiling of any of these 4 players.
