  1. Past hour
  2. For someone who has already determined the only thing that matters is a Championship, sure. You can create a narrative where all that matters is a Superbowl and then judge everything by that standard. But life isn't like that. It isn't all or nothing. Nor is sport despite the desire to present it as such. Sport is about moments. And the memories. The wins. And of course the Championships. But not only them. Brazil 1982. New Zealand 1995. South Africa (cricket) 1999. Minnesota 1998. Portugal 2004. New England 2007. They are all great teams.
  3. When I was a kid, i thought MASH was so "cool" and "with it". Now I watch it, and it is painful. They have three genre of jokes: 1) Puns, really bad puns especially spoken by Alan Alda. 2) The military sucks, incompetent, unfeeling only by the mighty bombastic, self righteous hospital workers. 3) Periodically a funny joke or thought provoking situation arises. Overall the series is dreadful for me now and they ALL scream their lines, especially Harry Potter. Gross over reacting And I agree with the above, Saly Kellerman was the real hot lips.
  4. We were just heavy drinkers. Things were easier back then. If you booked a venue you could buy a few kegs and a bunch of booze and hire someone to serve it up. It was the most important aspect of the event, so we made it happen. It didn’t cost as much if the reception venue was low key. Today weddings are an industry and nothing is cheap or easy, except maybe the bride and a couple bridesmaids if you were lucky.
  5. Can you name a player that was on the roster the year before that they cut after 6/1 and before Training Camp? I can't. Meanwhile we've done many restructures around that time and past that point. I also mentioned extensions. They may be working on extensions for guys like Connor McGovern, David Edwards, or maybe even James Cook. Extensions take two parties and isn't something that happens quickly. They may be thinking they can do one or two of them and won't have to do any restructures. Or are waiting to see what they can and can't get done before they determine how much they want to restructure. But I'll play along with your idea. Who do you see as a Possible cut? Bc outside of what we already did with Von Miller, Kaiir Elam (Trade), and Sam Martin - I'm not seeing anyone on the roster that makes sense. The three names I see all the time though are: - Curtis Samuel: Cutting him would cost us 8.6m in Dead Money and would save us just $430,000. Even if he did save us money, our WR Depth is pretty poor even with him. Letting him go would leave us worse off. - AJ Epenesa: Cutting him would save us 6.2m and cost us 1.3m in Dead Money. The problem there is that we don't get Hoecht until Week 8, Joey Bosa is injury prone, and has already gotten injured before we've even arrived at Training Camp. We always carry 5 DE's. If the season started tomorrow and we had moved on from Epenesa, we'd have Groot, Jackson, and Solomon... and that's it. We have no idea what Jackson will be in the NFL (Solomon's a relative unknown as well) and knowing McDermott, I don't see him starting a Round 3 Rookie right out of the gate. Let alone before we've even seen him in Training Camp. Which even if Bosa is healthy, he'd essentially have to be - as I don't think they're going to use Bosa for 50% or more of snaps. - Daquan Jones: Cutting him would cost us 3.9m in Dead Money and save us 5.5m on the Cap. But it's sort of the same thing with him as Epenesa. We always carry at least 5 DT's. We don't get Ogunjobi until Week 8. Moving on from him would leave us with Oliver, Sanders, Walker, and Carter and that's it. And a complete mess at 1T. He's pretty much our only True 1T. It would leave us with TJ Sanders (a True 3T who has been said will play at 3T, that we may or may not slide next to Oliver only on obvious passing downs), Deone Walker (we'll probably put him at 1T bc of his size, but plays more like a big bodied 3T and is still trying to get to 100% after a bad back), and Dewayne Carter (in my eyes and the eyes of many, he's a True 3T. He didn't play 1T in College and doesn't really fit there. Beane says he'll be tried at both positions this offseason, but I'm not seeing it). I don't think I have to say Samuel will not be cut. When it comes to AJE and Jones, I don't think you can move on from either until after Week 6 when Hoecht and Ogunjobi return. Moving on from either would leave us shorthanded as is and in a *really* rough spot if there's any injuries before Week 8 (which is likely). The absolute earliest you could consider either is after Training Camp (I wouldn't even do it then), when you've evaluated guys like Jackson, Solomon, Sanders, Walker, and Carter in the DE and 1T spots. And that does nothing to clear cap now and get Hairston, Sanders, and Walker under contract. And if they felt good about the DE and DT positions post Draft without them, they'd have been moved on from in the giant list of players league wide that were cut for Rookies in Late April and Early May.
  6. If they're remembered at all, it's as paper tigers and choke artists. Not exactly a legacy that is that appealing. To say they're remembered for anything positive at this stage is poppyballs.
  7. What? They are remembered. Nobody is saying winning a title doesn't matter. But it isn't all that matters. You can be remembered without a Superbowl. That doesn't mean anyone is fine not winning one. Obviously we all want the Bills to win one. But the argument that it is all the matters is poppycock.
  8. Sounds like you have already made up yours. Are you the President of the Rory McIlroy fan club?? I hope he proves me wrong, the guy has always been a good player, but he never played as lights out as he played in the beginning of this year. He really needed the Masters to cement his legacy, and maybe he was willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen. If he plays poorly at the Canadian open, and misses the cut at the US Open, will you at least allow for the possibility that something was fishy?? If he plays well in these next two tournaments, then I will have read too much into it, admit I was wrong, and let it go.
  9. I think it was very much a regional and who you hang around with type thing. I wasn’t around then, but heard stories from parents. The 70’s were before the internet, and people lives were based on what others did in their social circle. I assume that created larger differences in the choices people made back then. I think community and ethnicity made a huge difference in the 70’s. My grandparents were from Buffalo, and you weren’t going to a wedding in most ethnic neighborhoods without alcohol being freely served. It’s very much part of German, Italian, and Eastern European culture. You could also get a really good deal on an open bar if you held a reception at a community/ethnic gathering spot. I think this might be why some people had that experience, especially growing up in northern/midwestern cities.
  10. Does 17 win MVP last year with Diggs on the team? I suspect “no”. No way to prove it but it seems true.
  11. Augie

    Gala or Gayla

When we lived in Sarasota, Fl there was a huge event every year called the UnGala Gala, designed for the younger people rather than the Opera House crowd. We went a few years, and I learned it was actually an upscale meat market for the 30-somethings, but I digress (with some humorous memories). Hundreds of people there, and it was 100% GAYla.
  12. Bonzo would of been 77 today.
  13. You’re like a beaten dog. Hiding into your corner when not sure what to do.
  14. So he traded a 1st round pick for a sure thing for a WR diva in AJ Brown who has given them three straight 1,000 yard seasons and has been instrumental in helping Hurts develop as a quarterback. Bright guy.
  15. If she has a father nowadays 😎
  16. On a happy note, and because it has been mentioned in this thread, Truman ended its' eight+ month deployment and docked in Norfolk today. The airwing would have flown off a couple days prior. Fly-offs and landing at your home base after a long cruise are tremendously happy days that you never forget.
  17. Raiders had the Steelers, Colts had the Patriots, Dallas had the 49ers. It's not like the Chiefs can't be beat. If they're worthy enough they will, if they aren't they won't. That is sort of the point I'm making?
  18. Schotty's Chargers Schotty's Chiefs Green's Vikings
  19. Today
  20. Agree it doesn't need to be discussed in literally every thread. We all know it and feel it.
  21. Hey, I agree. I want a Superbowl just as much as any other fan. But it is kind of annoying that any time anything positive is ever said about the team, there is a contingent of fans that come and say "it doesn't matter because we haven't won the superbowl." It gets old. We all want it. We all get it. They aren't saying anything we all don't already know. It is just this joyless, wet blanket of an attitude that isn't fun for anyone.
  22. I wonder if someone is taping the whole thing, the wedding and reception. If so, and made public, I would love to see it.
  23. Yeah I'm shocked by the amount of people claiming to have been to all these open-bar weddings in the 70's. It was quite rare back then (in my neck of the woods anyway) and people would almost brag about it had they been to one. Especially considering that the average cost of a wedding back then was only $2k. I just did a little research and found a post by a bartender who did weddings in the 70's - he said the open bar was around $600 for 2 hours. So the open bar would have been about 30% of the total wedding cost. Long story short, maybe the others in this thread have very affluent friends. Or maybe you and I just grew up around very poor people 🤣
  24. Name 5 highly successful teams that never went to a Super Bowl that history holds in high regard? Hell, name 3?
