I disagree on the bolded. Different people have different standards and expectations when judging the performance of those who are paid to go behind a mic or in front of a camera and speak to large audiences. Tasker's job is not based on anything approaching merit. For people who place a high value on merit, Tasker is a tough pill to swallow... in fact I have a hard time believing that there's not an ex-Bill who could do a better job... but for whatever reasons, he got the job.

Agree about Hoecht. When I saw him out there running around wasting a lot of energy, I thought maybe it was Landon Jackson. Hoecht did not look like a savvy veteran to me. It was a positive to see James Cook in uniform and going through the pregames. I hate to think of the Bills without him. To me it's a numbers game and the heavy investment in defense will pay off. Between the 3 veteran free agents and the 6 draftees, I remain optimistic that the defense will be improved. It's a matter of how improved they'll be. I seem to recall that Codrington had a nice pass breakup. Also, the Bills invested a pick when trading for him. He averaged 11.6 ypr on punts and 27.8 ypr on kicks. I think it'll be pretty close between Shenault and Codrington.

It'd be a lot on the plate of Alec Anderson and Tylan Grable. Anderson 6th OL on the field in certain packages, 1st guy up at all 3 interior spots. Tylan Grable being the first guy up at Tackle and having to also play Guard if two go down on the Interior. I must have missed SVPG being on PUP with all the injuries announced. Last update being McDermott saying it's unlikely he'll make the Pre-Season finale. If that's the case, i'd expect them to keep him on PUP or maybe even IR him. But I don't think they're going to outright cut him. Spending a Top 7 Pick in Round 5 on him last season is no minor investment, like a Late 6th or 7th. I don't think they wash their hands on his development after his Rookie year and an injured off-season.

Cook has all the cards in this situation. Sure he could be out $5.4m but no one can force him to play in 2025. It may backfire on him come 2026, I can imagine there are a handful of teams that will pay him what he wants.
