For those who believe in science, here is an article explaining why this part of Texas is prone to these disasters. Government planners and emergency managers need to prepare for the environment they live in since this is not an unexpected event in that region. https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why-texas-flash-flood-alley-is-so-deadly-explained-by-geology/

AC/DC's Thunderstruck is pretty damn awesome, but I have always been partial to It's A Long Way to the Top... THAT would be my choice. Those bagpipes get me every time!

Just because they were young, they aren't dumb. They experienced the damage of "saving grandma" first hand. Luckily, redhawk and frankish know they were right and would gladly throw the next generation's formative years in the trash as needed. In a word, they were SELFISH. But they were the first to scream SELFISH when someone else went paddle boarding.

So much for the National Weather Service

DEI means hiring people based on the color of their skin rather than their qualifications. That’s what it means in every context. -
I've been having this thought lately, because my nephew and his wife are also expecting their first child this December. If you think about it, isn't it kind of weird that you congratulate couples that are having a kid, because what you're really doing is acknowledging that they had sex? No? It's just me?

Winner. I would lose my sh*t if this came on during a key timeout with 2 min to go in a close game. I'd run through a brick wall. Love it.

DEI in this context? Was he the best man (black or white male or female) for the job? Why didn’t he understand something so basic? That’s confirmation he was not the best for the job. DEI itself? That’s simple. Created by Marxists that hate white people. -
Bills should be no. 2 - at least!

Wild breakdown.. and not exactly an outlier. Quite a few other polls and studies back this up. In this Covid-shaped worldview, is also evidence of the BLM/Gender hyper focus we had during that time, and the pendulum swing towards a flat out rejection of that ideology amongst younger Gen Z.

I have some memory of being surprised when McDermott said some genuinely complimentary things about him during camp without being prodded to do so. That's not something you see every day out of Coach and it gave me some hope that maybe he's learned some humility and an associated work ethic. If his head is still in the right place, somebody is going to give him a shot; I hope it's us.

The story that got me was the fiancée/father who saw flood water rising, told his family they were out of time and that he loved them.. then punched through a window for them to get out onto the roof. The glass severed an artery and he passed away from blood loss within seconds of getting them to safety. Talk about going out in glory. God bless that man.

Ranking NFL WR, TE, RB groups for 2025: Bills 28/32?
MJS replied to Lionel Hutz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Completely agree. That's how I see it. The ranking is really just a WR ranking except for the teams that he wanted to talk up a TE or RB. -

And an FBI attorney, Clinesmith, got a slap on the wrist for altering evidence in order to bury the fact that Page was a CIA asset. -
Same issue as Benford and CBs. There are just too many WRs to name ahead of him.

They’ve pretty much forced my hand, I’ll have to try one.

Reputationally around the league, I think Taron gets more respect but I think Benford was much better last year. just like any list though, it’s a popularity contest. Ramsey will be super high despite his play on the field not supporting it.
-
I'm not sure Benford is even considered the best CB on the TEAM given that Taron Johnson has had recent All-Pro honors, making the 2nd team last year. There are just so many CBs to choose from in this league, and a bunch of others get highlighted more with the amount of man they play.

Are Fan Expectations Too High for Keon Coleman?
EmotionallyUnstable replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
I always cringe when I see Coleman working the jab step agility style drills. He will likely never make his money running those type of Diggs or Stevie style routes. His best asset should be utilizing size, strength and leverage to create his separation. I get that it’s just a drill and something to work at, but he isn’t going to all of a sudden develop into Jamar Chase. His best chance is eliminating the fancy footwork and working on release packages that highlight his hand usage and strength. You aren’t shaking anyone out of their boots. I liken it to how I love my punt returners, one step and go.
