If Only They Could Tackle..It's Not Just the Coaching
DJB replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
Can’t keep blaming the coordinators Gunner. McDermott has handpicked the last 3 or 4 of them. He also has a big say in which players get drafted and how he develops them Mcdermott is the HC ultimately it falls directly on him. -
I did not dig into the nuances of do you use a TO or not and strategy around it. Usually it’s not a big deal innthe 1st half. for some teams a 3rd and 3 at the opponent 30 vs a 3rd and 8 at opponent 35 coukd mean a FG or not. Some teams offense aren’t good in 3 rd and more than 5.

Evaulation (of this team) after a quarter of season gone
Generic_Bills_Fan replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think if trubisky started and cook got 30 carries we would’ve beat saints and jets at minimum…probably the dolphins too lol not to take anything away from Josh at all not trying to imply he was a problem in any way yesterday…but cook was absolutely running wild. It was straight up surreal seeing the gameday thread complain about 6 yard first down cook runs haha the few bad offensive drives yesterday both felt like we got away from cook too much tbh -

The defense is just bad. Bad fundamentals, bad situationally, inconsistent pass rush. The one thing is HAS done well is splash plays. But that's a tough way to live week to week. It simply has to be better. I'd be willing to consider a coordinator change but I doubt it happens. -
This is my worry, as I have stated many times here. At a minimum, you have to have capable backup to spell Cook, your offensive driving force, and so far the result says nada. Now I do get it that Beane and McDermott thought Davis should be better than he has showed so far - he showed flashes as a rookie and you expect a jump in production in year 2. But I see a trend now with the older rookies (Kincaid, Davis coming to NFL at age 24), you may get satisfactory result year 1 but not year 2 jump. The optimistic side of me expects that as the season goes along, Davis figures out and overcomes the book that defense have piled based on his rookie season.

I never watch halftime anyway...

I mean, it’s fine to have guys develop without getting on the field. The issue fans have, and it’s fair, is that a 3RD Rounder should be able to help if the players in front of him getting Gameday jerseys are struggling. Instead we have AJ having to gut out an injury, Rousseau apparently playing injured for multiple games now and Bosa on an absurd snap count for a guy they brought in to make sure he’s available for the Playoffs. Rounded out by a largely ineffective 5th Round Pick. Good stuff.

Patrick Mahomes: It was huge to have Xavier Worthy back out there

The Chiefs may be the game that we can expect Max to be brought up to match his speed on the field . -
How about a WWE halftime show? 🤔

The defense is infuriating, I hope the injured guys and suspended guys get back and help. That being said, many thought the Packers had the best defense in the league, they did not look great last night. My point is defenses seem to be struggling league wide. -
I think he had to take both of them. The first one was on the refs. The second one was on the coaches. Babich and whichever position coach hadn't got his right group out were the blame but ultimately that is a Head Coach accountability point. McDermott needs to leave his guys in no doubt that is not tolerated. In another situation burning that timeout hurts. I actually didn't like the timeouts at the end of the half this week. Josh had already used one, so we were down to two. He took the first on a 3rd and 2 with 1:36 left. Didn't like that. I was fine with how they used them last week on 2nd and 5 and then 3rd and 7. But to use one on 3rd and 2 when even if the Saints milk the clock there they have to run a play leaving about 50 seconds on the clock. If you stop them and it's 4th down THEN call a timeout, sure. Otherwise I'd let them play out 3rd and 2 and if they convert, and you can stop them on 1st down and get 2nd and long THEN call timeout. Calling timeout on 3rd and 2 there was not smart clock / situation management.

I don't think our D is playing at a level that can take on any of the top contenders in the playoiffs. Hope they get it together in the 2nd half of the season, but I'm seeing to much of the same crap we see evey year.. bend don't break BS

I will say that if it’s obviously too early, it’s obviously too early.

Are you sure? The Ravens (prior to this weekend) were statistically the worse defense in the NFL. They were 32nd in total yards and bottom 3 in both passing and rush yards given up. Bottom 3rd in red zone, 3rd down and 4th down. And bottom of creating turnovers. This weekend did not help any of the numbers. It may be the injuries, but right now they are the NFLs worst defense - so we really have not seen the Chiefs offense against a worse defense. They have struggled against the Chargers, Eagles, and Giants who all have decent defenses. It is no surprise they moved the ball against Baltimore. That is not a good defense and the injuries have killed them.

SCBills replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills will likely never draft a player like Worthy or sign a player like Thornton so it is what it is. Bills want to be big and physical on Offense and that also means have Wide Receivers who can block. I too wish they could give Allen one quality speed guy who’s not of the gadget variety, but alas it seems to be akin to wishing they get bigger up the middle on Defense. They simply aren’t going to do it. We’ll see what it looks like when we get there but it has to change because an underreported issue the Playoff Bills face is Allen not having guys get open for him regularly enough. If our Defense wasn’t a flaming dumpster fire every postseason when it matters, this would be a much more talked about issue. -
I'm not sure if you know this but criminals don't follow the law. You know what is very illegal? Fentanyl. I bet you can't find that anywhere in the US because it's illegal right? Just to give you a stat. In Kennesaw, GA you are required to own a gun. If you live in the city limits of Kennesaw, you have to own a gun. They have had about 6 murders in the last 20 or so years. For comparison, Chicago has had 308 murders this year, that number will certainly go up by December 31 and Chicago has one of the nations strongest gun laws. I don't understand, stricter gun laws are supposed to keep the murder rate down?
