Actually the Dolphins was typical - We take the lead 28-21 with 7 mins left. The Dolphins drive all the way down to the Bills 21 yard and milk the clock down to 3 minutes. They are solid position to essentially run the clock down as they tie or even win the game with a point conversation. What happens? Tua throws a pick on a 1st down play when they probably should have been running the ball.

All 22 Review: Bills vs Patriots
BillsShredder83 replied to thenorthremembers's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did you (or anyone else here) notice if hes taken any snaps out of the slot at all? Would love to see some sets where Keon moves in slot.... he can spell Shakir here and there, or line up with 4 WR, both Shakir & Keon in the slot. This feels like it could be especially lethal if we can swing a trade for a real outside WR. Keon feels like a few guys we've had in here recently. Brutal and hated as a #1/#2, very nice surprise and better contributing as a #4. Dude needs to be easier to get the ball to, vs a teams lower tiered CB, but getting the ball in space, already on the move where he can crank up to his top-end speed and physicality after the run. Its so easy right now to remember him as being slow... but its really an acceleration/suddenness problem. While it takes him a while to get there, he looks fast af once hes had time to get to speed. It really frustrates me to not be able to play into that strength of his. Maybe a thunder/lightning duo in the slot could be really fun. I dunno. *Sigh* -
the only answer anyone has found vs our jumbo set was a psycho big front miami had against us, and really we shoulda passed instead of run it against that. a couple passes to cook and ty out of that formation would have extended our drives and broken up the 3 and out middle of the game streak we had, and we'd have walked away early. brady needs "if it ain't broke don't fix it" tattooed on the back of his eyelids.

Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF

ha! Hockey and Atlanta do not mix. I had a buddy who moved there for a few years when the Thrashers were there and he said you could get tickets for like $15 and it was all visiting fans. -
Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF

Sherman didn’t during his march to the sea. -
Yeah, but I remember it, and in my memory they scored 50 points a game and never lost. Every play was a TD on a crossing route to Andre Reed. I was also young and didn't have a drinking problem. So, take us back to 1991 so I can get a mulligan on all the bad decisions I made in my life. Damn you Joe Brady! This message board for the past 3.5 days has been an exercise in how many ways people can start "fire the coach and GM" threads. People have been pretty creative.

The defense under this regime, even in good to average years is not up to par against good QB’s. Yes Maye is a good QB and he will make games a challenge in which i will enjoy. This past week against the Patriots, no matter how you view the defense the offense gave this game away and could not get things going. That’s completely OK - it happens to all squads. what’s interesting to me after watching this defense under McDermott, people actually expect them to play lights out and be difference makers - that’s not who they are

Beans and Sean - Should we miss the SB again

so, i think we have 90-95% of what we need, and have had that for at least 3 out of the past 6 seasons. that last little bit we need can be had via a very good few moves/decisions. the 13 seconds coaching issue, the not forcing kc to punt w aj klien hobbling at lb while dumb but talented rook williams was on the bench (who led us to a punt, our only forced one of the day), and lately the refusal to line up on O with our clear and present maximum advantage (tight ends and backs, and mixing up passing and running with that personnel grouping, 0, 1, or 2 wrs) vs the pats when ish was hitting the fan just lowers my confidence that we will find the answer when we need it most. as far as the d goes, im a mcd hater, but honestly this is the nfl now. teams start at what, their own 32 on average? that's 35 yards from FG range for like 15 NFL teams. one single big play means points in today's NFL, so everyone is deep shell and nickel as a base D (as opposed to Base D, w 3 or 4 LBs depending on 4 or 3 DL). short efficient passes and running with misdirection and a rotation of running backs is the standard everywhere. denver cinci and minni are the only teams who seem to want to push the ball deep today, philly sometimes but their o is a disaster. from this POV, mcd is a leader in how the Ds of the nfl are coached, so i can kinda see keeping him. we are short ed oliver, hoyt, african anabol (never remeber his name), two LBs, rookie TJ, and our only fast corner on D. we have a pretty great pressure rate and a reasonable sack rate, along w some usually weak run and 3rd down d, but i think we do have something to work with. it's not fair, but the nfl never is. mcd is going to be a shottenhiemer joke or an all timer based on if he can win a chip in basically 25 or the 26 season. based on that i'm basically 50/50 on blowing it all up for a new FO or rolling with what we have and hoping to find that next 5-10% to win it all. looking back, the house shoulda been cleaned after 13 seconds, i think we'd have won one by now with about 5 or 6 different front offices, and we'd have had our pick that season. -

I agree with this 99%, because the Bills don't really play a "soft zone" very often anymore. They play a lot of zone, but almost every NFL team does that. But contrary to TBD rage posts, the Tampa-2 left Buffalo with Leslie Frazier. Any look at the All-22 will tell you that. In fact, they didn't play cover-2 on the play that the OP rages about. But they did play cover-2 two plays later and let Maye end the game with an easy pass for 19. But the only way to know this is to watch the overhead views, but most people refuse to pay $15 a month to see what actually happens in games. Lets put some data to this. Like everything sports these days, there is data. There is not a single team in the NFL who plays more man than zone, but the Browns are close to 50/50. I think I might start a thread with this table so that people can stop acting like the Bills are the only team that plays a zone defense. But in the meantime, here ya go: https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/stats-nfl/nfl-coverage-schemes/

That is totally fair criticism. I think there is plenty of fair criticism with how Brady has called games this year, used personnel, etc. I am not saying Brady is doing a bad job, but I think there are holes in how he has called games that if he shored up the offense would have fewer stalled phases in games and we would score even more points.

yeah, for our roster based on performance the best list i can find... 0 through 100

Return of the Tre! (Tre White signs with the Bills)
Alphadawg7 replied to FireChans's topic in The Stadium Wall
No disrespect, but I don't think they really "planned" on Tre being the starter. They said we needed speed in our secondary, even if Tre was to prove he had something left in the tank, speed was never going to be part of what he brought to the table. Based on everything said about Hairston, Tre, etc I think the plan was to let them legit compete in hopes that Hairston either won the job in camp or would eventually take over the job during the season. Tre getting first teams reps to start camp was not only not a surprise, but 100% what I expected as that is pretty much what they always do. Open camp with the vet over a rookie as the starter until the rookie earns the spot. They trusted Tre, and quite honestly, Tre had a good camp and was showing the most ready to play over Hairston. Not like they just handed Tre the job, he legit had a better camp before Hairston got a full camp to compete due to injury. They have spoken a lot about wanting to get more speed in our secondary, so if they had their wish, it would be Hairston out there right now instead of Tre. The unfortunate injury altered that possibility, but with him coming back, my expectation is they won't rush him in there, but I suspect we will see a lot of Hairston in the KC game with the 3 speedster WR's they have in Worthy, Brown, and Tyquan who all had sub 4.3 40's coming out of college. -
this. We are going to keep getting what we have been getting with McD. Gotta try to shake something loose. And it's not like we revert back to the drought era.

I'm complaining about our best weapon on O that's not Josh Allen getting the lowest number of touches this season vs the Pats. James Cook is a feature RB. The best scoring machine in the NFL.
-
Problem was that same returner who "Gave himself up supposedly" correctly kneeled the ball down on the previous kickoff. So, to the D it was not a gimmie that he was giving himself up based on what he did correctly previously.
