  2. But isn't that the problem with such a negative Bills' mindset? Good moves they make are simply luck? It is a really nonsensical point of view, makes zero sense. Just something to throw out into the ether to make them look bad. Completely unsupportable. And then, of course the bad things are almost always their fault. And the rest of the good things? Yup, just luck. Seems like an awful mindset. Lacks objectivity in an extreme manner, to the point of being humorous.
  3. Chevy Chase was the original drummer for Steely Dan
  4. Gabe is only four months older than Tyrell Shavers, both born in 1999, April 1st for Gabe, August 18th for Tyrell - both are 26 years old. Moore is a year younger at 25. Generally people want Shavers to make the 53 to see whether he can do something, he keeps working hard in practice but hasn't got a full opportunity yet to be WR, mostly being a special teamer. Right now I'd assume that Moore is WR4 if the season started this Sunday given Samuel is seemingly injured, Shavers the default WR5 and Samuel probably on IR. Having played three extra seasons than Gabe, Samuel has less than 700 yards extra and has scored less touchdowns, 29 for Gabe versus 23 for Samuel. For me there is not much upside in Samuel, age 29 and injured a lot and to my knowledge doesn not play ST but dead money comes into it. If Gabe does come back I am not going to dwell on the past, can he be a dependable WR4 this season? If he's back we just have to root for him to do well.
  5. In my league I've been awarded the #1 pick. Who would you guys take? This league is very high scoring and RB's are the obvious premium picks (last years season totals below). The top 9 RB's in this league outscored Ja'marr Chase. I'm thinking of taking Jahmyr Gibbs but I can make a case for Bijan as well. I'm thinking the workload for Barkley and Henry are managed more closely this season as to have them feeling great in January. 2024 season totals: Barkley 520 points Henry 489 Gibbs 456 Bijan 453.5 Jacobs 415.5 Kyren W. 403
  6. I'm curious how much snow they get in the stadium. Most heavy snows in Buffalo have wind as well, and I think the idea is that the way the stadium is designed to deflect the wind, it will also keep a lot of snow out, as well. It's a bit like the way the wind in the back of a pickup is designed to circulate when it's driven, creating a kind of wind lid over the bed. I think that's the plan anyway....curious to see how it works out in practice. Not sure if someone has mentioned but it also has permanently installed grow lights, which is pretty cool.
  7. I mean I haven't seen a breakdown of the play calling vs you're going up against a Ben Johnson offense without any game planning and you really need to game plan and play as a cohesive unit against his offense, even one where Johnson likely just played vanilla stuff and didn't game plan either. Especially where the Bills played really well in that joint practice...I think someone earlier in the thread (I read it somewhere and it was a good point) that the Bills were likely trying to get players on islands and seeing how they would react and what choice they would make in that situation...especially where there might not be a correct answer, cause Johnson is trying to make it so no matter what you do individually you're wrong...which is why you need to play as a cohesive unit in general, but especially against that offense. Long way of saying I'm sure there could be more than one explanation for it...like the Bills have had a lot of success playing highly vanilla defenses, even if they have struggled in the playoffs (Caleb Williams isn't Joe Burrow right now)...they disguised and rolled coverages really well during that time...I'd love to know if the defense had the ability to audible at the line and the real issue was they were intentionally sending in play calls that might not win early in the game and seeing if the play was properly diagnosed and audibled...obviously they didn't game plan, but Joe Marino was talking about a play where they blitzed and they ended up with Codrington on DJ Moore either for a td or a big first down...that seems like a situation that might call for an audible...
  8. My opinion is that rookies should occasionally flash, but any kind of real impact you get from them in Year 1 is a bonus. Second year players should become more consistent and dependable. Still room for growth, but making positive contributions. By the middle of a guy's third season, you usually have a pretty good idea what kind of NFL player they are going to be for the long-haul (in most cases). With that said, part of the problem with most of the Bills 2024 draft class is that almost all their picks haven't even gotten a chance to sniff the field. That's because much better players are above them, and will remain so for the foreseeable future. Not much you can do when a Pro-Bowl player is already at the position. The only guy we've really gotten an extended look at is Keon Coleman. He definitely flashed as a rookie, and has been one of the stars of training camp. - The story with Cole Bishop has been injuries and missing training camps. The opportunity is there for him to take the starting role, but he's just lost so much development time. Hard to judge where he's at until he actually gets onto the field. - DeWayne Carter is probably the biggest bust of the group so far. Day 2 pick at a position where he could be making a real impact in the D-Line rotation. But he never did anything as a rookie, and is already getting outshined by the guys in this year's class. - Ray Davis was probably drafted as the heir-apparent starter at RB. He's looked pretty good in limited time. But then James Cook had a huge breakout season and signed an extension. So barring injury, Davis will likely be stuck as the #2 for the remainder of his time in Buffalo. That doesn't make him a bad pick. - Sedrick Van Pran-Granger and Tylan Grable are both stuck on the bench behind Pro-Bowl O-Linemen. And both have been injured this offseason. Maybe SVPG gets a shot next year if we don't bring back Conner McGovern, but it's hard to see Grable becoming more than a swing tackle with Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown above him. Like Davis, this doesn't make either guy a bad pick. - Javon Solomon and Daequan Hardy have both flashed as potentially decent depth players in this league. Can't ask for much more out of 5th and 6th Rounders. Overall, I think we can be happy if Coleman and Bishop develop into good starters. None of the other guys really have a clear path to even reach the starting lineup, regardless of how they play. Davis, SVPG, Grable and maybe Solomon can be important depth players going forward.
  9. It's a system where if Buffalo gets 50 mile winds again like the game against NE a few years back, they can take 20 mile per winds and spread the additional 30mph over the next 4 home games.
  10. I'm fine rolling with Hancock in the box. He's athletic and seems to have good instincts. Hope he wins it.
  11. Diggs alone, or Allen alone a few years ago, neither all that great. Peanut butter and chocolate, same thing. There's nothing like Reese's. But after a while you realize chocolate is great all by itself.
  12. He’s basically saying it’s Hancock or Bishop. That's what’s happened. Hancock has shown enough to push for the job. They aren’t looking at bringing in anyone. They think the answer for now is in that room.
  13. I would say he's trying to get somebody to really step up and go after the position and let it be known it's very much in the air. I think it's a message to not only Bishop but all the other safeties besides Rapp.
  14. And do you think would Pooty Poot would actually .agree to this? If so, why? I'd have to see it to believe that. What's one of his biggest hang ups to peace now? Ukraine joining NATO. How would what you propose be different and agreeable to him? He holds the cards and has veto power on any deal.
  15. That was sort of my point. Not the extremely unlikely event that all the starters are out, but asking how well the 11 work together when one or two subs are in. Great players make coaches look smart. The Bills lucked into (or were smart enough to acquire) Hyde and Poyer, two players disregarded by the league, but who became absolute stars. The Bills took a gamble which really paid off by trading up to draft Josh Allen. Matt Milano was a low draft pick -- really lucky there. Same with Benford. Take away these great choices and McDermott wouldn't look as smart as he has been.
  16. The Bills are looking for spare change under the couch cushions just to get close to the salary cap. It would take a monster contract reworking to pay Simmons what he's going to get. I hate to say this, having become a Utah football fan while living in Salt Lake City. But Zach Moss, Dalton Kincaid, and now Bishop, all looked good coming out and all three have just not played up to expectations.
  17. I think the O line is very deep so they'll stash SVPG on IR. Next year looks tougher as McGovern will be difficult to retain since he's playing so well. SVPG should be 100% by next summer and with a year to practice (one healed) we can hope he'll take McGovern's place. McBeane are playing 4D chess now. As always Beane is not thinking solely about this year but how to maintain a strong roster for years to come.
  18. Yes. The Bills do not agree with you. They talk to lots of players all. The time. It makes sense they would check in with him. It does not mean they think he is an upgrade to. What they have. He is not. Exactly. I thought Hollins was an upgrade last year.
  19. He can cover Samuel against us.
  20. Sensing Max will probably go on IR to start the season and be out for the early part of the season as he can barely even move his right leg on the stationary bike. Not sure what they do with SVPG? Season ending IR as he hasn’t practiced at all. He must have torn his calf muscle to be out this long. With the amount of injuries at WR and S, it would seem wise that six/seven WR’s will make the roster and assuming either Forest or Cam will make the roster at S. Also, if Bass isn’t 100% does he start the season on IR as well? So many question marks with our current state of injuries and how it will impact the roster at the start of the season.
  21. By listening to the interview it just sounds like he’s looking for one of the guys to step up and prove he can be the more consistent player. Not as big of a deal as I thought when first reading the post.
  22. Very fun to head into the 2024 offseason with massive needs at WR and safety, and now, post the 2024 FA period and 2024 draft and the 2025 FA period and the 2025 draft, STILL have massive needs at WR and safety.
  23. The only thing that would have been gained is another available training camp roster spot. The Bills have released some players who were doing OK, because they had needs for other positions and were up against the 90 man limit. But I agree, they know what they're doing, and they might have wanted to keep him available in case of injury to other OLmen.
