NFL mandates new playing surfaces for all stadiums by 2028
MJS replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe the Bills already knew what needed to be done? It would be pretty lame of the NFL to wait for the Bills to just barely install a brand new field and then announce that it has to be torn out and redone. -
ok so immediately Harbaugh won a SB w Flacco on a playoff heater that wasn't half as good as Allen's in 2021 so we can dismiss the idea that McDermott does more w less outright as for Lamar, you realize he's bad in the playoffs...not just not good, but outright bad. talking 10TDs/7INTs 60%comp w 6 lost fumbles bad

Game week thread - Bengals at Bills (flexed to 1pm ET)
Gregg replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
1. Home where they have won 16 out of the last 17 games and have one of the best homefield advantages in the NFL. 2. Bengals defense sucks as bad if not worse than the Bills. 3. Cook will most likely have a huge day allowing the Bills to control the clock and keep Burrow on the sidelines for much of the game. -

Bills lead in Pass Blocking and Pass Play Efficiency
hondo in seattle replied to JaBu's topic in The Stadium Wall
The title is a little misleading. We don't lead in either Pass Blocking or Pass Play Efficiency. I guess you could argue that we lead in the combination of those two. But that doesn't matter. Good passpro should help you earn a good EPA but by itself doesn't mean a lot. -

MJS replied to JaBu's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think offensive line play around the NFL is not as good as it was even just 10 years ago. There are very few dominant olines anymore in the NFL. The Bills had one last year, at least. -
Not the worst idea...

Expecting some crazy defensive sets Sunday
Governor replied to oldmanfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah MCD is always going to play it safe/scared and unfortunately that’s the worse thing you can do with Burrow because he will get in a groove early and you can’t shake him out of it. -

Benford gets Higgins. Double team Chase. No blitzing. I’d only rush 3. 4 ain’t getting home why bother. Put someone else in coverage. -
Ah, was not aware of that, thanks for clearing that up

UB Men's Basketball: 8-0, host 8-1 Bona Saturday 2pm ESPN+
Buffalo716 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall
I want to go to the game but tickets in good seats are going for like $150 200 bucks I love ub I just can't justify that for a mid major basketball game even against a western New York competitor -
Yeah i dont think there is a silver bullet in general. I was basically pointing out there are things that can be done at local levels that arent even being looked into. Over regulation is a small part of a larger picture but people arent asking questions. Theres also private equity deciding to scoop up everything above market value. Crickets from both sides. On and on. One thing is for sure. The regulations have far exceeded actual saftey measures and has turned into a pay to play racket. There are plenty of examples. Heres one such explained if you got time to watch. I just feel there are alot of people who go into higher education for the wrong reasons and parents are still under the outdated illusion a degree equals high income or are just neglegent to actual salaries. College is a giant industry that will offer rediculous degrees and zero bars to hurdle to get in. Im perfectly fine if someone wants to get a historical philosophy degree, switch majors 50 times racking up bills, or live on campus that doubles the price just to get the "real experience" . Drown in your decisions but at some point you are going to have to point these things out and yes, prevent people from making those types of decisions if you dont want a generation drowning in debt before they start their "careers". You were the one worried about the future you were leaving. My idea would be hold colleges more responsable for job placement. If they cannot land a kid in a field then they eat the cost. It would drop the endless nonsense degrees. We agree on tarffis. as i wrote to at least its a attempt. how can you not blame the other side when their policies exasperate issues? Millions of people let in that need housing is a pretty good start. I think ive gone into a long enough rant to go into details further on that front.

Its OK for the Bills to be a run-first team
folz replied to First Round Bust's topic in The Stadium Wall
Was just thinking about this and didn't think it deserved a new topic, so I decided to put it here. Many Bills fans have lamented our WR room for at least 2-3 years now (not totally without cause). And we drool over teams with two stud receivers. So, I thought that I would look at how the teams with the best WR duos are doing. At the start of this season, the following teams were considered the best WR duos (generally-obviously opinions differ) . I have included their current records and chances of making the playoffs this season: Odds of making Team/Record playoffs (2025) 1. Bengals (4-8) 2% 2. Eagles (8-4) 95% 3. Cowboys (6-6) 16% 4. Lions (8-4) 43% 5. Rams (9-3) 96% 6. Vikings (4-8) <1% 7. Dolphins (5-7) <1% 8. Seahawks (9-3) 93% 9. Tampa Bay (7-5) 81% 10. Washington (3-9) <1% 11. Chargers (8-4) 61% 12. Chiefs (6-6) 35% The Bills are 8-4 with a 90% chance of making the playoffs. Only two of the top WR teams have a better record than the Bills (by 1 game) and only three of them have better playoff odds than the Bills. Only 5 of the 12 teams have better than 50% odds of making the playoffs. Yes, I know there were injuries (Burrow, Chase, Lamb, Tyreek, Evans, Godwin, etc.---kudos to TB for weathering their storm), but that's part of the equation too. You may be weaker elsewhere on your team in order to have those two studs and if one of them gets injured, it's a bigger loss to the team (harder to get wins without those players, obviously). And obviously who your quarterback is matters big time too (but I think you could say that at least 9 of those 12 teams have pretty good QBs). I'm not saying this is some be all end all stat to discourage getting better at wide receiver. And I would not say no to one or even two stud receivers if the opportunity were there for Buffalo and it made sense (obviously you don't want to pay two stud receivers if you are a run-first team). But, I think it does at least go to show that just having stud receivers does not guarantee anything. -
I honestly think Beane gets shown the door this off season, barring a bonafide super bowl run.

Don't forget, Tony Eason also got there in 1986. I think if you go back to the mid-1980s you will see that there was really nobody else in the AFC, certainly not on the level of a Mahomes. I was 14 in 1983 and I remember a ton of great '70s quarterbacks all retiring or losing effectiveness right around that time and not being replaced by anybody good. - Terry Bradshaw in Pittsburgh -- Mark Malone succeeded him. Mark Malone! - Bert Jones in Baltimore/Indy -- they drafted Elway but traded him and were stuck with Art Schlichter and Mike Pagel - Ken Stabler and Jim Plunkett in Oakland/LA -- replaced by Marc Wilson. Marc Wilson! - Dan Pastorini in Houston -- replaced by Warren Moon, who had a great career but never made it, thanks in part to us - Brian Sipe in Cleveland -- replaced by Paul McDonald. Paul McDonald! - Ken Anderson in Cincinnati -- they were working in Boomer Esiason, who did make it to a SB - Dan Fouts in San Diego -- he hung around the longest, but the cupboard was bare when he retired (and even before that) - Jim Zorn in Seattle -- Dave Krieg was decent but not great - KC didn't have anybody at all Buffalo (Fergy), New England (Steve Grogan), Miami (Bob Griese), the Jets (Richard Todd), and Denver (Craig Morton) had also lost or were losing longtime QBs, but they mostly hit the lottery in '83. Everyone else was screwed, including KC who tried with Blackledge. As others have pointed out, there was no Mahomes sitting around blocking the class of '83. So this isn't that much of a surprise that the class of '18 hasn't gotten there (yet).
