I was over in the other Cook thread a couple months ago talking about how he wasn't worth the $15M per season he was shooting for. Boy, was I wrong. I MEAN WRONG. Cook is worth every penny and then some. He's on pace for 1,800+ yds and 17 TD's on the ground alone. I wish they'd use him more in the passing game, but Cook is killing it right now.

JA breaks Cam Newton’s record in Carolina - Classic
Mailman replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can't take anything he says with any seriousness. He wears a top hat. A top hat! -
After Josh got his nose broken, he probably called audibles to random plays to avoid his face getting smushed in again.

As "professionals," shouldn't they know better? I'm not sure I can blame coaches for a player not moving up a foot to be in the correct position. I doubt that it is drawn up that way in the playbook or practice.

JA breaks Cam Newton’s record in Carolina - Classic

I could never get past Cam's ego with his Superman celebration . I always thought he thought way to much of him self and in some ways I still do which is the difference between him and Josh, I dig it when Josh yells after a score but he just isn't as brash and more down to earth . -
The New Guys: Hairston, Hoecht, Ogunjobi plus Hancock
CSBill replied to Ray Stonada's topic in The Stadium Wall
I 100% agree with your assessment of all four. I want to see more of Hancock. It is nice having Poyer as insurance and as a mentor to him and Bishop. But the Bills are far more athletic with Bishop and Hancock on the field. In addition, I will add that Shaq Thompson and Dorain Williams need to be our regular starting Linebackers. Think about this: In one game, the defense improved substantially by adding speed and strength in getting Hoecht, Ogunjobi, Thompson, Williams, Hairston, and Hancock on the field. That's an addition of six new starting-quality players. And, these new people make our other new people—Bosa, Walker, and Bishop—better. I know it is only one game, but for the first time this season, the defense looked legitimate. Talent makes all coaches smarter. -
Max Hairston to return to practice from IR

Proof? -
I think he is way to preoccupied, there is so much now always happening with him & I think he's more focused on the rewards of when he gets home than what's happening when he's on the field and the same happened with Bass . Just look at Samson & Delilah, many woman have brought down a good man or at the very least distracted them just enough to make a difference . Then you through all of these other distractions like the commercials he's in like every one when ever there is a break in the action, we can almost bet he's not going to be in the MVP conversation this year if he keeps up playing the way he has . Hopefully some one will tag him real good and bring him back to where he was last season ...

Jamaica gets threatened by hurricanes often. Ivan barely missed it in 2004. I remember looking at it on radar and suggesting to the FO that Jamaica wouldn't be the same tomorrow. Ivan suddenly turned due west, but they suffered significant damage.

JA breaks Cam Newton’s record in Carolina - Classic
WotAGuy replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Would like to see a breakdown of the average length of TD rushes by Cam, Josh and Hurts. I feel like Josh would have the highest average, but really don’t remember much about Cam’s TDs, but suspect he and Josh would be close. -
Time for McDermott to start coaching the WRs!
-
Well given the score it seemed to have produced some rewards for sure Carolina had been said to be a very good run team and had 2 runners that have been producing at a high level up until yesterday, I didn't get to watch the game because I'm not in that region but the score tells me something good happened and I hope it continues !! And hopefully Babich can learn from McD with him being in the Mr. Miaggi role showing him what he see's & what & when it needs to be called . If they can have the D that they did back a couple of years ago when McD was calling the plays that could be a shot in the arm that they need lets hope so anyway .

I didn't get to see any of the game so I'm depending on those of you that did for did bits until I can see the highlights but it is definitely encouraging to here what you have posted and I'm glad that Hoetch has brought some much needed energy to the D as you said it has been sorely missing . I hate that Ed got dinged and hope that he can get back soon, although I feel he isn't the game wrecker that he is being paid to be he can be just 1 more piece that other teams have to at the very least keep a eye on & while doing so might open up another player like Oganjoby to get some pressure or a sack because it's not always just 1 player and can be a sum of all of the parts that lead to success . Let's hope moving forward health can be a main stay so that they all can get a cohesiveness to their playing together, I feel like that was something with Poyer & Hyde may have made them as good as they were their familiarity with each other and consistently being on the field helps & I think going forward can be a huge help to this unit with all of the new pieces !! Consistency can lead to great Chemistry & hopefully better production !!! -

We were more disguised and even out of shotty and under center vs Carolina. Some obvious 3rd and longs had us less than like 50/50 in terms of disguise, but it was better than before. Carolina seemed to have their d set up to not get torched by okay action passes. How many times did Josh take the hand off, turns round and see sweet eff all open? Cook coulda run for another 100 if they kept at it in the 4th, so it's a problem now. Kinkaide being banged up and only playing 14 snaps was our biggest issue IMO. He's our best pass option, followed by shakir. With even mid level Palmer hurt the rest of the wr corps are just terrible. I remember a really well called TD drive that had us hit a quick slant to Coleman on the right side in one on one coverage. He got the 1st but he like lunge stepped to get the ball which took him out of stride and got tackled immediately. A good wr woulda been smoother and changed direction and maybe had a huge gainer.

Bills added three new players to the D that made a difference. Those three were playing aggressively and opened the defensive playbook. McDermott has taken over play calling several times over the years, and always seems to get more out of the resources at hand. But clearly, he had more resources at hand against the Panthers. Can he call offense too? Cook was running for 11 yards every carry and Josh was off his game - Cook could have had 300 yards if they used him in the 4th. Way too many pass calls in the first half.
-
Good to see it back. However we still need a variation for the Chiefs. Either a tush push to the right, or a fake tush push and then a pitch wide or a pass.
-
It’s a combination of things. Sometimes they don’t get open. Sometimes the play design is bad. Sometimes they do get open and Josh misses them. Sometimes Josh fails to anticipate them coming open and bails from the pocket. Sometimes Josh is inaccurate. Sometimes the receivers drop it or fail to get feet down in bounds.

Which might be fine. We'd have to know how those rates differ among the great offenses in the league (e.g. Colts) to know whether we could optimize better. I pretty much guarantee no team is 50/50 run/pass out of shotgun, for example. 20% might be the right number to keep defenses honest. It reminds me of poker. Staying balanced doesn't mean you bluff half the time. You just have to bluff enough that your opponents know you are capable of bluffing in that situation, and sometimes they call you down when you have the goods.

After that game we are😂 When he started to “ run” on that first strip/fumble I swear he reminded me of Kelly running…. It was awesome.

10/26/25 GAMEDAY Bills at Panthers post game thread
GaryPinC replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, concussions can be weird. My daughter could pass her concussion test but had light sensitivity and intermittent brain fog for weeks. I kind of suspect that is what's going on with Josh, and he can't tell anyone or he'll have to sit. Yesterday's second tush push TD, he ran it standing straight up which I found odd and made me wonder if he was protecting his head? He's definitely not thinking the game as well the last two games, at least. One other odd thing is that the last two games he's been trying to mostly roll left to escape the pocket which I have no idea what that's about?
