"When you have a quarterback who's trying to do too much and implement a game plan that does not protect him, then add a ferocious pass rush, you get this ugly result."

Nine turnovers in three games-- -2 on the season compared to +24 last year.  Explains much.  Details:

1. Poor game plan/poor calls-- Brady called too many plays that took too long to develop and did not adjust when pass rush was hot.  Poor individual play calls, particularly the 4th and 1 call that failed.  Not a shining hour.

2.  Josh-- reverted to making poor decisions and trying to do too much.  Some of the lowlights include the hit from behind that caused Josh to hurt his shoulder. He had an open field to run to get a first, and two receivers open for a quick throw for a first.  Instead, he slows and tries to reset his feet for a long throw, and the lack of awareness almost got him killed.  First pic was a terrible decision to force pass into coverage, when he had easy throws to both Davis and Cook.  Although not all the sacks were his fault, he held the ball instead of throwing it away on several or made silly decisions as in running backward on the -18 sack. Another Miami-like game.

3. McDermott-- Has become almost too aggressive chasing points.  If he kicked the FG on the failed 4th and 1 run with Cook, score would have been 23-22 late and an FG would have won it.  In a tight game, points matter.

4. Conclusion-- "[Bills] need to be honest with themselves and come to terms with their own failures.  Too many penalties, way too many turnovers and, from Allen's point of view, too many negative plays."  Bills can clean this up, but they need to have a sense of urgency about it.  It's up to them.

If they don't turn it over, and just kick fgs they win.

I also don't know if this is a true reflection of why they really lost

The run % on 1st down was way too high, which made play action predictable

They never threw over 20 air yards until the Gabe play at the end

They never ran up tempo

Again they purposely shortened the game which played right into the Texans hands

And you still turned it over regardless

If you had the same identity like the Tampa game, you could've jumped them really quick 10-0, 14-0 and then changed the dynamic and flow of the game.

They respected the Texans defense too much and it made it worse

People say McDermott is too aggressive chasing points

But when he punted it against the dolphins on our own 30 yard line in the first quarter people said he was soft

He's damned when he's aggressive and he's damned when he's not

I'll never fault him for being aggressive myself.

He made the right decision to go for in on that 4th down against Houston.

I did fault him for punting against Miami

I was yelling at my TV over this. This is a problem with most head coaches. They don’t understand the 4th down decisions should be dictated by the specific game and opponent. You don’t just always “go for it” because that’s what you do.

The entire team (coaches, players) needed to understand that to win that game you kick FGs, get field position, and play clean.

I don’t know if you realize this but amongst the millions of fans, not all agree on strategy

This is all Mcdermotts doing with his insistence on reigning in Allen. Now you have an indecisive QB whose trying to be something he isn't. Plus you've given him zero talent at receiver and saddled him with an incompetent defense that makes him feel he needs a score on every drive. It's only going to get worse. Beane can't put a great draft together to save his life and his bad free agent signings far outweigh his good ones. By the time Pegula reacts Allen's career will be over. What a shame and waste of a QB the likes of whom we'll never see again.

I keep seeing people say they punted from the 30. I actually missed the start of the game and didn't see it. Were they actually on the 30 or is that just an estimate?

Because at the 30 that's a 47 yard kick and is a high percentage kick. If he passes on that to punt, yeah I'll call that too soft.

And when he went for it on the 4th and 1 in FG range, yeah that was too reckless.

It's almost like situations matter and differ from chance to chance.

I can't think of a single situation where I want my head coach kicking FGs on 4th and 1 in the first half of a football game. It's an automatic, zero thought go for it situation, IMO.

Bills 30, not Dolphins 30.

Oh, OUR 30? They way people cried about it I assumed it was the Fins 30. Yeah, no. You don't go for it that early on your own 30.

You don’t but oddly in the moment it DID feel like it was the critical turning point of the game.

From the Buffalo Bills 30 yard line lol

It was the first drive of the game and people were freaking out that we punted from the bills 30 lol

If we punted from the other teams 30 I would actually lose faith in McDermott

Yeah I don't know if that is true because it could have changed what Houston did when they got the ball back.

Lol don't know what I was thinking of.

I still think it's a no brainer to go for it in that situation.
