TD716 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Homegrown off-season signings has been the biggest issue with this team. Bernard, Benford, and Rousseau have been mainly invisible. It’s the main reason the defense looks the way it does. The free agent signings have not looked any better with the exception of the two games that Hoecht was able to play. Cook is the only signing to play to his contract. WR signings this and last year have not helped. Other than Beane hitting on our rookie DT what has Beane done. At what point does Josh finally say I have had enough with the WR room and defense. His body language says he is already there. Ryan Miller 2.0. Please no. Quote
Avisan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Groot has been great, Bedford appears to be rounding back into form, and Hoecht/Boba were as advertised prior to injuries. Defense is getting the job done with a M.A.S.H. unit out there, it seems absurd to be so critical of them when they've put out a league-average performance in each of our losses despite multiple offensive turnovers. 1 1 1 2 Quote
KentuckyBillsFan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Beane stinks.. Most overrated GM in the league. Medicore drafting, bad FA signings, bad contracts.. A mediocre roster with no money to spend is fully the fault of the GM 3 Quote

frostbitmic Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Cook of course, Prater and the Punter Whiskeynowski have been worth it. 1 Quote
Avisan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Groot consistently gets ranked highly in advanced metrics, and again he is not paid nearly as much as top pass-rushing EDGE players are. If you're solely measuring him by sack count, then okay, not amazing, but he isn't paid like an amazing sack artist, either. It's a good-value contract. 1 Quote

SCBills Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) What a disaster of an offseason. Invested heavily into a Defense that is the worst we’ve ever had. I get it, we lost Hoecht and Oliver for the season. Those two can’t be the linchpins on a functional defense that take it from good to dumpster fire. Not when you’ve invested so much into it. Injuries can’t be an excuse anymore on that side of the ball. They just can’t. It’s no longer a coincidence. It’s every year. It’s the players we sign, draft, the scheme. Undersized guys, injury prone guys. There’s a reason we’re always banged up there. Rousseau looks more and more like an anchor of a contract. Good, not great player who we’re paying borderline DE1 money to set the edge on the worst run defense in football and rarely get pressure on the QB. Just a brutal contract extension as it stands currently. Benford got paid and immediately looks like a guy who got drafted in the 6th round. Maybe he’s hurt, chances are he probably is, but if he’s not going to be the guy we paid, that’s another swing and a miss. Bernard. Gross. The most obvious extension that could potentially go bad. Oft-injured and undersized. And this year he’s … injured and undersized. “We’re better without him” isn’t a good place to be for a guy we just extended. And I might be in the minority but I hate the Shakir extension. Hes good at what he is.. a Deebo type player, but I think he’s limited out of the slot and is blocking us from having a more well rounded option there. We could clearly use him better too.. but he’s not a guy who can flex to the outside and he blocks our offense from any positional flex in the WR room. Which is ok if you’re prime Cole Beasley… he’s not that. A Golf club in the bag for the Offense.. nice to have. Not my ideal full time slot WR. Bad extensions, going all in on defense and leaving Josh out to dry. We traded Diggs and suffered his dead cap for what? To be in cap hell again.. this time with bad extensions and not even remotely a game changer to speak of? Beane should be fired yesterday… the Josh Allen card only works for so long, especially when you’re now the biggest obstacle in his way. Edited 2 hours ago by SCBills 1 1 Quote
DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Grading extensions this offseason from best to worst 1) Cook: A+ 2) Allen: B+ 3) Groot: C 4) Benford: D- 5) Bernard: F Edited 2 hours ago by DabillsDaBillsDaBills Forgot Shakir, I'd put him at C Quote
thewookie1 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Cook - Great Groot - Ok/Mediocre Bernard - Playing Injured now Injured Again Shakir - Fine but has been pigeon-holed into a screen guy for unknown reasons Benford - Started rough but has looked better as the season has gone on The issue isn't that they are all bad, its that they are making above average money and all but Cook have been average at best Quote
goldenboy81 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Groot has been great. He makes 1 play in the 1st quarter, then you don't see him the rest of the game. That's not great, not even decent. Waste of money I say Edited 1 hour ago by goldenboy81 1 Quote

BuffaloRebound Posted 33 minutes ago Posted 33 minutes ago Rousseau is a solid player. Benford was good but is injury prone now. Same with Bernard whose contract was a lot lighter. Shakir is a good player. Cook is an All Pro. And who else was available to give that money to? The problem has always been the defensive scheme and that McDermott values guys who can run his complicated scheme over size and speed. And you end up with a ton of injuries then having to recycle washed up guys who know the system. Quote
ganesh Posted 20 minutes ago Posted 20 minutes ago Only Cook. Shakir has been disappointing. All I see is him catch a ball at or near the LoS and try to get YAC Benford has been a shell of himself. Bernard has been mediocre and injured....He is worse than our previous MLB Groot is average...no pass rush...and have to say that his run defense is nothing to speak off considering we are 31st against the Run. Others who are costing a ton and getting nothing from them Hoecht, Bass out due to Injury 10-million man Samuel has completely disappeared after a promising playoffs/ Overpaid Knox, Milano, Jones all no-shows on most days... Our OL that was our strength is getting dismantled....and Komer has no answers.. Dawkins, Spencer, Edwards all playing well below their game... What a bad laundry list.... Quote
