So, in your opinion, it would be better to fire a coach knowing any replacement you hire will not be as good as the one you just fired?

The Bills are a very good team that is currently a M.A.S.H. unit on defense.  We are 7-4.  We have already beat teams that we will be fighting with for Wild Card spots.  We're getting in.

 

The Eli Manning Giants got hot and the right time AND lucky AF and got two rings against the GOAT coach/QB combo off of it.

 

This was a very entertaining game for a neutral observer and the Bills had a chance to win it at the end.  They pulled off a beautiful hook and ladder play to make it possible.  Gabe Davis in-bounds or Dawkins doesn't jump and there's a very good chance of a W.

 

Take a deep breath, schedule an appointment, and stop basing your happiness/self-worth on how a sports team that you aren't on performs.

 

It seems you've missed the very obvious point of the post.

 

I'm not saying the Bills won't make the playoffs or win the Super Bowl. I'm saying watching the games is not as much fun as it once was. People seem to agree.

 

Step down from your ivory tower and realize that this has nothing to do with self-worth. Of course it has to do with happiness... this is a team and sport that we all dedicate time to and we want to watch our team win. Of course we don't feel neutral while the once in a lifetime quarterback of our favorite team is pile driven into the ground and writhing in pain.

 

You know the most ironic part of your post? You say "we" when describing the Bills several times and still act holier than thou when describing "a team you aren't on" ... good lord. I hope you've considered therapy as well, because "we" are openly expressing frustration and that's perfectly fine.

No "inspiring" coaches available this season, but don't hold onto a coach that isn't going to "get it done".  Pretty simple path from A to B. Fire Clappy now and see what they can hire.

You do not keep a HC around because the next guy could be worse. That is living in your fears and settling for comfort over what is truly needed----change!!!

Watching the Bills, and football in general will always be fun for me.  I survived the drought, with it still being fun.  VERY frustrating at times, yes.  But still love it

I think one of the things taking away the joy for me is that the fanbase cares more about the team than the players do.   I am a 42 year old guy.  I've spent hours of my life and thousands of my dollars on the team.    Meanwhile guys the organization is paying tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars are saying things like "they just wanted it more than us" or paraphrasing other millionaires by saying his "life would be great" if they didn't win a Super Bowl.  Makes me realize these guys are just mercenaries.

I enjoy watching other games, but Bills games have been torture since the 2021 season. I think I might stop watching for a few weeks.

It has been less fun than usual this year, that's for sure.  Reminds me a bit of the year we had to win out to feel confident about making the playoffs.  A lot of weakneses on the team, and Allen isn't getting any younger.  I'm starting to think that Beane will turn Allen into another Dan Marino, minus the Superbowl appearance.

making my point for me, not that a handful of reps should be the measuring stick of a guy

 

there's a lot of evidence to suggest we aren't putting guys in positions to succeed imo. we're married to scheme, on both sides of the ball, and it's showing (easier to see on offense, id say, because we do lack talent there)...there is no reason we can't come up w better gameplans to counter our areas of weakness and exploit our opponents'. 

 

we have the pieces on defense. hairston+benford should be a top corner duo, bishop is emerging as a star, we have first round picks up and down the dline. we just don't have the staff to put the puzzle together

Football and all sports are a 3 hour escape for me from the doldrums of life. I’ll always enjoy watching the Bills on weekends.
