  1. Always hoped we could fit him in somehow later in the offseason, but I think he had to do what was best for him and get a job now rather than wait.
  2. I love Jim Kelly - probably my favorite QB. But even I can't put him ahead of Peyton Manning when it comes to ranking QBs - even when I factor in the eras they played in.
  3. If we can't get a physical, speedy WR with separation skills in free agency we need to draft one. Plain and simple. Most of the fans here have watched even more games than some of these pundits and I can tell you that we are lacking consistent enough separation from our WRs when facing man defenses. Yes, I dream of Josh Allen throwing occasional bombs to Tyreek Hill, DK Metcalf, Ja'marr Chase, etc. I do agree with going defense all the way after that, depending on who we resign or replace through free agency.
  4. For all I know the staff told him to look in the end zone. Why else were his eyes glued down field? I can't imagine the staff didn't discuss the next 2 plays during the break at the two-minute warning and direct Josh's primary reads. That's what coaches are supposed to do.
  5. The failure to identify the little things concerns me about this coaching staff. McDermott had such little faith in the Bills depleted defense stopping the Chiefs that he tried the fake punt. So, the logical thing would be for the coaching staff - at the two-muinute warning - to tell Josh to focus on the short passes - make the underneath pass the primary read to get a first down so you can continue to run clock and force the Chiefs to use the final 2 timeouts. The Chiefs were playing safe and protecting the end zone so those passes would have been (and were) open. Clearly, that DID NOT happen. Josh's eyes were down field on both of the following 2 plays. That was a mistake in my book based on the situation. McDermott and his crew sometimes fail to play situational football.
  6. I have to put some blame on the McDermott and crew there. At the two-minute warning they should have been talking with Josh about the state of the game and the clock. McDermott already showed us he was afraid to put his D back out on the field, so they should have been looking at getting first downs to run the clock. It was too early to start chucking it in the end zone. Josh should have been told to look for the underneath routes as the primary options on the next two plays. They were open.
  7. Gabe is a decent zone guy, but I just don't see enough separation from him when in man coverage. And, just look at how the Chiefs adapted in the second half by putting another safety up in the box. They weren't afraid of our receivers at all (yes, I know Gabe was out, but he wouldn't have changed anything). We need some new blood to stretch the field and be physical.
  8. I am curious to know whether anyone on the Bills coaching staff told Josh at the two-minute warning to focus on getting another first down BEFORE trying in the end zone. One more first down would have enabled the Bills to run down the clock (KC only had 2 timeouts left) before having to try the FG if they couldn't get the TD. I think Josh should have been looking FIRST at the underneath routes on that play where Diggs was open rather than the end zone. It seems even more obvious that the Bills offense should have approached it this way given McDermott was playing like he was afraid to let his defense on the field. I'm always amazed at how often coaching staffs seem to fail at clock management.

  10. We win games because of Allen. You do know you have to win games to get to the Superbowl. There are about 29 other teams that would have liked to have a regular season where they were seeded #2 in their conference. Yes, I understand that you are focused on the Superbowl - I understand - but you have to be crazy to think we need to replace Josh. We'd likely be back in another 20 year rut and I'd be dead before we got a replacement that was close to his level.
  11. Diggs is an elusive route runner and very good at finding space in zones, but he doesn't really have the elite speed or physicality to get consistent separation against many of the top corners of opposing defenses when in man defense. We need to find that #1 so Diggs can shift over to #2.
  12. Yeah, agree, and everyone needs to remember we were a team with what - 7 starters out on defense? To make is this far was pretty incredible, and largely on Josh's back. I didn't see us making the playoffs or even the #2 seed back when we were 6-6. It was a great run. Hopefully our defense gets healthy next year, and we get that good #1 receiver to complement Diggs, who should be back with his contract.
  13. Disagree. You need to stretch the defense out from time to time as our run game was getting bottled up. And it's even more important when you have a mobile QB like Josh so that you can try and push the secondary back further from the line. They need to remember the cannon of an arm that Allen has.
  14. You can say that again. I find it humorous when people post here about how Allen needs to be replaced. Yeah? Go find the replacement who is better. Just about every team in the NFL would like Allen. The main problem is he has to do most of the lifting on offense - the talent is a bit thin at WR. If Allen had the Bengals WR group, I can only imagine where we'd be.
  15. Meh, he got us down the field to get a tying FG, but he should have thrown it underneath to Diggs to get the first down and take more time off the clock. But, easier said than done. If he had been able to get the pass of to Shakir and we scored a TD and the Chiefs failed to response with their own TD, nobody would be complaining.
  16. And we win because of Allen. I hope you understand that as well. We need to get a better receiver to help on the outside. Our WRs started to disappear as the season went on, and they struggled to get separation against man defenses.
  17. Well, I think you can say that if Allen is the sole reason we win or lose. And, if you believe that, then you must agree we need to improve aspects of this team. We need a WR who can get consistent separation against man defenses. We also need our D to get healthy. I do wish Josh threw the ball underneath to Diggs at the end there as we needed one more first down to ensure we wouldn't give the Chiefs much time at all if we had to kick the FG, and the kick would have been closer.
  18. That's what I've noticed all season. Our receivers are good against zone defenses, but they struggle against man defenses. Diggs will probably be back as we don't save a lot this year cutting him, but we may try and restructure his contract. We could use a #1.
  19. No chance we rest starters. We want to be the 2 seed and play at home against the Steelers next week. Who wouldn't?
  20. I'm saying that Miami now has to beat us twice in a row if they want to move forward in the playoffs. If we lose tonight, we are the 7 seed and simply play them again in Miami next week. I like our odds, but I would obviously prefer to win tonight and play the Steelers at home as the 2 seed.
  21. Can the Dolphins beat the Bills twice in a row at home? I don't think so.
  22. We really need to follow their blueprint and get some more speed at wideout.
  23. Hoping that Bengals and Steelers both lose this afternoon, because if they don't I don't think The Ravens (against Steelers next week) and Browns (against Bengals next week) have anything to play for. So, we need to beat the Dolphins next week or we are likely out of the playoffs absent something odd like a Jaguars loss to the Titans.
  24. Mahomes' WR group is not that bad, although they have had a bad case of the drops at times this year. Valdez-Scandling on paper is good, and Rashee Rice is a quick, elusive receiver. Kelce kind of makes up for their shortcomings as well. But, I think Mahomes has had one of his worst seasons this year - he doesn't seem as sharp when I've watched him.
  25. One thing is for sure - we will need to keep the Cowboys offense on their side of the field. As soon as they get to our 42-44 yard line, they have 3 points absent a loss of yardage. Aubrey may be the best kicker the NFL has ever seen, and we've seen some great ones like Tucker.
