I personally think JA17’s contract is an albatross on the salary cap. Thus, the team can’t improve enough. The bills play just well enough to get into playoffs, thus they always have a very late draft pick year after year, so they can’t draft any real difference makers. And free agency, it’s bargain bin shopping because of the big contracts (Josh, Greg, Knox, Milano, Samuels, etc). It’ll just be more spinning the wheels but not getting to the big dance. 
 

Milano’s deal ends after this season at least. 

 

Rousseau is an expensive edge setter. He’s not a sack artist and edge setters shouldn’t make $20 mill a year like he does. Period. 

 

JA just redid his deal after winning MVP. His cap hit went up significantly. It won’t be coming down anytime soon. I know it’s easy for me to say “how much is enough” but his original deal was 6 yrs $258mill. They ripped that contract up and he’s on a 6 yr 330 mill. You do the math. His cap hit next year is 18% of the entire team salary cap. That’s brutal. 

 

Hey Josh, if you want add pieces to the team, be willing to be outside the top 10 in qb contracts. If he’s serious about winning he needs to lower his cap hit by taking less money. 
 

They wouldn’t need him to be Superman every game if he had some help. And look, Josh turns 30 next year. He doesn’t have many high impact years left. Maybe 5 or 6?! 
 

Josh could never make another dime again, and he’s set for a life of luxury 10 times over. No joke. I was pretty disappointed honestly when he redid his deal. He did it All because he was dropping lower and lower on the qb contract tier list. Do you want to win or not?! I love Josh, believe me, but his cap hit is a hindrance.

This is gonna be an unpopular post but I agree with you 100%. He's as much or more to blame for his predicament than anyone.

Bigger than all the issues at the moment are injuries.  I just can't believe how many starters we will be down after this game.  Kincaid out with a hamstring injury, and Jackson down for the count.  Who the heck can Josh throw to out there?  It's no wonder the pundits after the game were commenting about how Josh was having to find ways to buy time for his receivers to get open today.  They are just not able to separate consistently enough.

It's true.  I don't blame Josh for the money, i'd take it too.  Is beane ever going to get better at drafting?  Will the bills hire competent coordinators?  those things are outside the salary cap.  It's just frustrating to see it playing out.  Great QB, great RB, a couple complementary pieces, and maybe the most junior league coaching staff and training staff in the NFL.  At any rate, whatever, it's the status quo now and absent some luck, not likely to get better.

Five years with an easy path to division titles. Home games in January. Elite QB. We end up with 13 seconds and the defensive HC's defense getting shredded consistently. No SB appearances. 

 

Now, another team in the division actually looks competent. And we are no longer a sure bet for the AFC East title.

Well on that note I'm hoping that Highmark being empty in January will be the trigger for him. With a new stadium opening it's good timing to make a change and an easy sale to the fanbase. I don't have a ton of faith but I'm hoping the ruthless billionaire shows up.

i think Pegula is just going to sit back and continue to blindly put his faith in Beane to turn things around. He is not an owner that likes to go through the hiring process.

 

We're talking about a guy who has kept Kevyn Adams as GM of the Sabres for 6 years despite consistently putting one of the worst teams in the league on the ice year after year.
