I gotta be honest - as a Bills fan, I've never sat down to watch a Buffalo/Miami game and thought, "Man, I hope Waddle doesn't kill us today."

Tyreek Hill? Sure. But not Waddle.

I agree, but now we've thought that you're guaranteed he'll get 130 yards and 3 TDs against us today.

I hope this report is true and he decides to go half speed to punish his prison officers, erm, I mean his front office

So in the off-season the issue was getting a WR that could get separation.  Beane brings in Palmer.  Then it was a guy with speed.  He brings in Moore.

We can talk about the draft.  When you draft low you don’t get a shot at the top of the WR class.  And we focused on D, which showed up pretty well at least last weekend against Mahomes.

You could argue we could have traded for a big time WR in the off-season but off-season is basically free agents and draft.  Trades happen at the trade deadline and it seems Beane was very active but couldn’t find a partner.  Meanwhile the team is # 1 in yards per game based on an offense centered around the run and Josh finding the right guy in the short to intermediate zones.  And it’s working.

Are fans more interested in a productive offense, or watching Josh chuck it 50 yards down the field?

Allen would be able to elevate him similar to how he did Diggs. Just don't know if Brady would allow it.

I wonder if the bills had already played both games against miami or didn't play the second game until week 17 if they would have moved waddle to Buffalo.

No matter how much the owners hate the fans and think of us like bunch of losers and they all do, trading one of your best players to a rival who you can't beat the week you play them is probably even a bridge too far for them.

Williams would have been incredible.  The DT rotation would have been amazing with williams/oliver/walker and sanders.  What a bummer.

I have a feeling the jets would have dealt Williams to us, but I doubt we were offering what the cowboys gave them.

I think the dolphins weren’t going to trade with us at all.

I think it was also the fact that we were playing the Dolphins in their home the very next game. The timing couldn't have been worse for us in those negotiations.

On the one hand the media is reporting a first and a third for Waddle versus the everybody eats mantra.

If the trade had succeeded and happened, then the pressure to use Waddle would have been there and noticeable and if the returns on a weekly basis would be something like 4 catches a week for 35 yards, the comments would be the needle hasn't moved at all despite the costs involved.

If the trade had happened then I believe that you are almost forced to feed him similar to the Diggs under Dorsey scenario.

We get this same tired rationale all the time from folks.  Let’s take a team like the Chiefs.  We could say what will happen when teams take away Kelsey.  You can say this for any team in the league.

What will we do?  We’ll either load up the O line and batter teams into submission on the run.  Or we’ll use the 3 TEs.  Or we’ll get throws to Shakir.  Or Palmer.  Or whatever Brady cooks up.

Why assume other teams can slow down the #1 offense in the league in yards/game?

And yet Beane reportedly just offered a 1st and 3rd for Waddle at the deadline… if accurate, clearly he recognizes there’s a need. Maybe he was watching the Pats and Falcons game and recognizing there’s a potential problem there if the goal is to win a Super Bowl this season… or maybe he just wanted to shut up irrational fans like me.

If Beane's hill to die on was that he would give up a 2027 1st but not a 2026 first, and that is ultimately what prevented it from getting done, I think I have a problem with that.

I don't know if I can swallow this whole story. Were there only 2 guys worth looking at and they just happened to be in our division?  In the meantime, the Titans were having a fire sale. Seems like Simmons was the only guy not moved. Claiming all your efforts were to deal with division rivals kinda steams my clams.  If Beane came out and said, We just couldn't get it done say for Simmons, it was too much to pay, that'd be a lot more believable. I'm thinking I spent more effort cooking up trade scenarios than OBD.

Anywho bring Wilkins in for a look see.

Did I say having another top end we would be a bad thing?  No.  His job is to try and strengthen the team.  But meanwhile they have a top ranked offense, and all you can say is that some team down the road will stop them.  Based on what?

Moore was an afterthought from the scrap pile. Moore was signed a day or two after Beane had his WR tantrum on WGR.  We only had 4 WRs at time of tantrum.  That’s after free agency and the draft.  We lose Hollins and Amari, and Beane signed Palmer.  Beane is 100% guilty of our substandard WR room

Not with Brady calling the plays. We’d probably double down on the run game if the Bills got Waddle. Or it would take six weeks for McDermott to get him on the field.

Dallas gave a 2027 first and 2026 2nd for Williams.  I didn't understand it for Dallas but for Buffalo I would have done this in a heartbeat.  I wanted them to make a deal like this for dexter lawrence but williams is the 1b to lawrence's 1a.  What a bummer they couldn't get that done.  What the defense could have been this postseason when oliver returns, again what a bummer.

I would never trade a first round pick for a WR.  Pretty much never.

Word is he offered a 1st and 3rd for Waddle. Some rumors out there that 1st round pick was a 2027 pick and Miami wanted a 2026 pick.

Well give them a 2026 1st WTF

So he made a great offer for Waddle but they didn’t want to trade in division.  Meanwhile check the league stats for offense.

Man if the stats for the offense is so good, why offer a first round pick for Waddle?

I think that narrative would've been short lived and irrelevant once you factor in Waddle's age and a likely change in offensive scheme after this year (I'm assuming that Brady will be gone).

I think he would've improved this scheme by creating space a la Cooper and then you have a high upside guy in place to work with for the forseeable future.

Because his job is to upgrade when he can.  This is not a black and white, right or wrong thing.  He added to the WR room with Palmer and Moore.  At the trade deadline he tried to do more.  Meanwhile the offense is playing very well.
