John Murphy - back in the booth (in a sense)

Van Miller was the best. Murph was great. Chris Brown is the worst announcer I've ever had the misfortune of listening to.

He was nowhere near great, as an announcer and a person. He’s a much worse person than he is an announcer and he was a bad announcer.

My sentiments exactly. Yes, he had the dubious distinction of following an all time great in Van Miller, but he never measured up, imo

chris brown as pbp is a brutal listen imo.  I can’t even watch the mini movies they post because his voice ruins it for me

Completely agree. While Van spoiled us all, Chris sounds like a teenage girl

Im glad Murph has retired and can just enjoy the games.  I loved Mr. Miller as met him many times when I worked for the Buffalo News back in the 80’s.  Personally, I enjoy Brown.  He’s interesting and a good straight man.

Im happy to see him there.  Murph is a generally good dude and he bleeds Bills colors and is also part of the tapestry of WNY.   I also enjoyed his work as a radio host for one bills live and other things.

 

 

 

I maintain that he was a dreadful pbp announcer and worse than Brown.  It was almost impossible to listen and figure out what was going on.  Down, distance, where a pass was caught (2, 5, 10, 20 yards? just 'caught there by x')  wasnt great at describing a play.  Would also fall back into the crutch of repeating things when he was excited.

I worked in local media for 40+ years and had my dealings with Murph. Definitely not a fan of his for many reasons, but still wish him the best

He is better now than he was. I like his energy better than John Murphy's the last few years he did it. He just didn't seem to have the same excitement. There's plenty of that now with Chris Brown which to me makes it a little better
