The Chargers have horrific injuries every year and their medical people actually punctured Tyrod Taylor's lung thats how incompetent they are.

Tyrod Taylor’s situation was suspicious.

….We all know how great conditioning can prevent a torn bicep and achilles injury

There are things that take into account but I honestly don't remember as many players being as hurt as they are now compared to the early 2000's and late 90s (I'm assuming back they they just gave them a shot and said get back out there).

Either way, the soft tissue injuries seems to be a new thing that is happening when players aren't even playing in games over the last decade or two (or they have always been happening and social media has just made me more aware of it).

Agree 👍 it’s frustrating throughout the entire NFL. At a time when training and conditioning keeps getting better it’s hard to understand. Speed size and strength of current athletes just may contribute to these types of injuries🤷🏻‍♂️

I honestly wonder what is is.  Less training camp, turf fields, diet, more restrictions on PEDs?  I really don't know but it seems like there are just as many in game injuries as practice injures over that time span.

Scroll down to look at all the teams.

It's not just Buffalo.

https://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/analysis/nfl-injury-report-ir-tracker/

This is exactly why depth is so important in today's NFL. Teams with depth can mostly slog through the injuries, while teams lacking depth lose their season if they have a spate of injuries.

Looking at the stats in the link provided by Colorado (which are from before the week 8 games, so guys like Hoecht would not be included) to see were Buffalo stands in relation to the rest of the league:

-15 teams have the same or more overall injuries than the Bills currently (so we are probably slightly worse than the middle of the pack for the NFL right now)

-20 teams have more players "Out for the Season" than Buffalo does

-We do, however, have the most players with a late return date, post week 10.

-But, if you combine "out for the season" and late return guys, there are 12 teams in worse shape (having lost more players for the year and late return guys combined)

So, overall, we are probably a bit worse than average---like just outside the bottom third in the league---in injuries currently (somewhat surprising, thought we'd be even worse).

Some of the hardest hit teams:

Detroit has 19 injured players with 8 players out for the season and 4 guys with late returns (post week 10)

Arizona has 16 injured players with 8 players out for the year, 2 late returns

Miami has 15 injured players with 9 players out for the year, 1 late return

New England and New Orleans also have lost 9 players each for the season; San Fran and K.C. have both lost 7 players for the year.

For comparison:

Buffalo has 10 injured players, with 2 players out for the year (now 3 including Hoecht), and 6 players with late return dates.

[Caveat: I did not assess whether the players were starters, vets, rookies, etc. So, some teams who have lower overall injuries may be in worse shape than a team with more, if they have lost more of their starters (particularly their QB or stud players), rather than say rookies with minor injuries that are kind of being stashed by being placed on IR, or that kind of stuff---or just guys that are backups and who don't get that many snaps anyhow, etc.]

Honestly guys, this team has some SERIOUS issues with this department!  I just cant size up this picture with the injuries on this team.  EVERY year gets worse....

go and read the number of injuries of other teams from this week. There are many.

Feels like it’s goin on league wide, I think the changes to offseason rules to help player safety has ended up hurting player safety lol

Every fan base is myopic thinking aomehow their team is uniquely cursed.  Has anyone seen how many Ravens key players are hurt, or a number of other teams.  It’s just bad luck.  That’s all.  Listen, I hate it as much as everyone else.

As far as a trade , I can only hope for a WR.  Go from good to great.  We don’t need nor can afford a DE.  Hairston’s and Hancock just need time and experience with Tre and Poyer in their ears after every series.

I thought we were really healthy last season.

This season is worse, but as others have said, most teams are hurting. We've only really lost one impact player for the whole season (Hoecht).

Correct me if I’m wrong, didn’t we lose all four defensive backs at the end of the season? Not to mention the annual Milano and Bernard injuries they are best known for.

I have a doctorate in Anatomy and taught anatomy and physiology for over 40 years.  I tend to think that there is something to NFL players being perhaps overconditioned.  Meaning that the amount of load and force that can be generated by the muscle mass is greater than the ability of tendons and ligaments to handle.  I’m not sure that stretching would do much.  Tendons and ligaments are collections of very dense connective tissue and don’t have much in the way of elastic fibers that would allow for stretch.

I honestly wonder if the majority of the NFL is on PEDs, and if that is the cause of recent injury booms. Just seems like an open secret in professional sports across the board.

Not gonna lie, I do not at all disagree... used to be mostly Concussion, knee and high ankle... we are getting, Pec, Oblique, Bicep and Achilles what seems a lot more now...

I honestly thought this thread was about our teams luxurious hair

It's a violent contact sport. It has been riddled with injuries since it started 100 years ago.

It seems like there are more now because we live in the information age where everything is tweeted and talked about on mutliple TV shows and radio shows, etc. Plus, we are actually diagnosing the real injury and giving players time off to recover. It used to be "rub some dirt on it, get back in. oh, and you'll never walk right after 35", now we diagnose an MCL sprain and give the guy the proper 4 weeks off.

I do agree that the widespread use of PEDs doesnt help things either, but those are just replacing the injuries that used to occur due to historical ignorance.
