Not that hard. Teams restructure contracts and move money around all the time to make these things happen.

But there is a price (down the road). Beane is conservative and doesn’t want to pay that price down the road

Glad to see he has some forethought of the future some GMs don't and you end up in cap hell.

I’d trade a potential all-pro for a verified all-pro all day every day.

Not with what Walker has shown so far 7 games into his career and accounting for $25+ million of salary cap space into your roster over the next 2 years, plus trying to figure out how to fit the contract in this year on top of that which would be next to impossible.

Decisions are not made in vacuums like in Madden. They are made when looking at the difference between the two players when accounting for potential growth and the cost difference between the two players related to the performance difference.  It's hard to argue Williams is having as big an impact as Walker is when his team is one of the worst defenses in the NFL even as they are loaded with "so called" stars and every game Walker pops 3-4 times or more.

I'm not trading Deone Walker. Dude is potentially an All-Pro caliber player next year on a rookie contract

Yeah, he could be a longterm answer at DTackle. Not ready to call him Chis Jones quite yet, but you can see similarities in the way they play.

He is just a physical mismatch of the highest level.

I would trade a Super Bowl for cap hell in the future. Easy deal.

I would trade all the division round exits, AFC championships we never win, etc.

That doesn't guarantee you anything and the difference in play between Walker and Williams is far less than you think this year. Williams is playing a far larger percentage of snaps but his "per play" difference in terms of making a play is probably not higher, if at all, than Walker's. He plays 71.5% of snaps on defense while Walker has played 52% of snaps and has virtually identical numbers to Williams this year in terms of sacks, TFLs, QB hits, and PDs.

If anything, Walker is having a larger impact PER SNAP than Williams is.

Now, if we are talking about putting those two next to each other?  That's a different story, but then we still have cap ramifications that there is no easy solution for.  But trading Walker for Williams AND dealing with cap ramifications?  Non starter.

Here's the thing, we aren't guaranteed to make either of those things happen even with those two additions.

Quinnen Williams is a top 5 defensive player in the NFL. He is an absolute stud.

In our wildest dreams, Walker becomes Quinnen. But that’s a hope. A wish. A dream.

And that’s nothing against Walker. He is playing very well. But he is not Quinnen Williams - at least not yet.

He will kick the can a little, but he definitely doesn't like to go overboard with it.

Especially considering we have been in mini cap hell for about 2-3 seasons.

I’d trade for these two for a 2025 1st, a 2026 2nd rounder, and Keon Coleman. Maybe swap out that 2nd for Deone Walker. Hey you have to make it attractive. Nobody is taking Landon Jackson. Dude has bust written all over him.

Yeah maybe the Jets will trade them to us and take on their 60M in salary too

I'd throw multiple draft picks at them for Garrett Wilson, no doubt. He would dominate with Josh throwing him the football. Since we're always picking low, I'd give them 2 firsts, any WR not named Shakir, and not even think twice.

I thought threads like this only appeared in the offseason when people are bored. Unfortunate.

Only in Madden can you force a trade with a division rival where they send you their best offensive and defensive player.

And you send back a couple of likely late in the round picks... and spare parts.

If they were on expiring deals, you could maybe see it if the players essentially forcing their way out.  But Wilson re-upped in April of this year.

quinnen Williams is not a top 5 defensive player in the nfl.  I don’t think he’s top 10
