I'm probably in the minority here, but when we lose a player for the season (likely, in this case), it saps all of the joy from a big win. Oliver was playing his best ball this season. Best I've ever seen him play. This just sucks and takes almost all of the excitement out of a 40-9 win for me. Yeah, yeah I'm the Debbie Downer. It is what it is. If KC has a similar injury to Mahomes, Chris Jones, McDuffie or Kelce, I will feel 100x better actually, but when does that ever happen? 4 2 Quote
RunTheBall Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) Oliver is done for the season. Maybe he gets back if we make a deep playoff run. It’s a classic mechanism of injury for a biceps tendon tear and there’s not much else that can go wrong in the elbow. He reached out to grab a RB while he was going down and it popped. If it was Milano, he’d pop his pec. Just another in a long line of Glass players we’ve unfortunately signed to big bucks. Milano, Oliver, Bernard. The All Glass Team. Frustrating. The only one to earn their Draft status left on the Roster is Deone Walker. He's been doing that. But he doesn't play Oliver's position. He lines up at 1T. When Jones returns (whenever that will be), maybe they start Jones and move Walker over to 3T (as he has flexibility). But until then it's Ogunjobi at 3 and Walker at 1. God forbid either get hurt. All we have is Practice Squad DT's underneath them right now. Quote

BUFFALOBART Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Back in the early '90's, Bills players would be stretching on the field, before a game. A LOT of stretching, at that! Injuries are (of course) a part of the game. That being said, I've been very critical of the strength & conditioning staff, because I don't think that they do enough to minimize player injuries before they can happen. 1 Quote

Blank Stare Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) Go get Christian Wilkins. Maybe he’ll be less likely to play grab ass with Josh when on the same team. Edited 4 hours ago by Blank Stare 1 Quote
ShakAttack Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If it seems like I am reaching for silver linings here, it’s because I am. With Chiefs up next, I am wondering, has Ed Oliver ever played a truly impactful game against KC? Given his tendency to “disappear” in certain games (in past years) I wonder if he’s always been more of a matchup guy, and I wonder if the Chiefs OL has always been a bad matchup for him. He has gone on record saying the 2 toughest OL he has ever gone up against were both Chiefs. Having said that, he has played 3 games this season and played at a very high level in all 3, so the fact this was trending towards being his best year as a Buffalo Bill is what bums me out the most. And some of those were contract related. Travis Kelce has missed 5 games since 2014. Kermit Mahomes has missed 3 games since 2020. Part of being great is health. But holy Christ is luck involved as well. Kelce’s health/games played blows my mind. 1 Quote

Without looking up stats to support my memory, he ate up the Chiefs OL in the regular season game last year. I remember because Chiefs Planet was talking about how Oliver got the better of Trey Smith all game. EDIT: I’m thinking of the last win in KC, 2023. That was Ed’s best game against the Chiefs. Only half a sack, but very disruptive throughout. Edited 2 hours ago by Brand J Quote

Only half a sack, but very disruptive throughout. Probably was his best performance then. According to my research, here are Ed's career stats vs. KC 9 games, including playoffs: 11 solo tackles 10 assisted tackles 1.5 sacks (0.5 in regular season, 1 in post season, believe it was in first quarter and more of a coverage sack if I remember correctly) Not much to write home about. Again, don't get me wrong, huge loss overall, and I wasn't able to enjoy this 40-9 blowout win as a result of this injury (kinda reminds me of Tre White on Thanksgiving, actually) but I don't think his absence was ever going to be a major reason we won or lost to KC next week. I'll tell you what was a worse injury, hands down, and that was Von Miller on Thanksgiving. The season he was having for us to that point, the impact he DID have on Kansas City, it was clear that if he were able to stay healthy, we might have actually had a post season pass rush against Mahomes for the first time ever under McDermott. Won’t happen against Mahomes. It does matter who you play and we always struggle to sack Mahomes. Great w today , but just keeps pace w the Pats who have a very easy schedule compared to the Bills. Get 7 sacks against the chiefs and I will be very impressed. Pretty sure Reid is smart enough to take away cook running. Our oc still can’t find him in our passing game. Our o line will struggle protecting against Jones per usual and if Palmer is still out ,it migt be a long day for Allen. He still doesn’t seem like himself; escaping backwards and he never scrambled at all today. Guess someone is not wanting him to run ?! Wonder if it is Mcd, Brady, Beane , or his beautiful wife? If it’s her , I would completely understand as no way could football ever compare to keeping her a happy wife! lol! Next week will tell us the truth , this w is like fools gold ! lol! I don’t care what anyone says , not every W is created equal! Best wishes , Happy Halloween! They def got banged up as the game went on (which is nothing new for them this year) but they def haven’t been one of the worst OLs in the league especially recently parity is strong in the nfl and it seems like people just assume teams that have been bad the last few years are just as bad at everything and it’s not always the case haha total season overall they’re average at worst I’d say…last few weeks they’ve been good though up front especially in run blocking Edited 1 hour ago by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote
