Before the 2024 season, I wondered when people would begin blaming Josh for the team's woes given the WR group they started off with.  There was some criticism leveled, but it died down after the Cooper trade as Buffalo got in the groove offensively.

Here we are again with the this scenario unfolding after 2 unanticipated losses: blaming the QB.  He has his faults and makes mistakes, but these losses typically have more than one contributing cause.  Pretty clear right now on offense those include injuries, play-calling, overall offensive scheme, but more than that's it's poor off-season decisions before we start talking about the reigning NFL MVP.

No one is blaming Josh.  He had a poor game, it is not an indictment it is just a fact.  Could others have done better.. sure.

The problem is that's 2 weeks in a row he's played the same. Is he losing interest/ fire? Is he tired of not being supported properly by the front office? All of this stuff could be grating on him. I'd be tired of the front office's bullshyt too.

This is all on Beane who traded Diggs and has done very little to replace him.  I never liked this everyone eats theme,  you need to have a guy that can consistently create separation from his defender.  I do believe they need to line up Cook as a receiver more because he is our most explosive offensive player who can make people miss and take it to the house more often then not.

Do you think they’re a bad team? This is a weird argument for a team that has gone to 3 straight Super Bowls. Their best two receivers were out the first 3 games while they’ve played most of the top teams thus far. If they’re .500 after 12 games you’d have a point.

No I don’t.  The way people describe the talent of this team and while also having the greatest offensive play caller of all time, 3-3 now but the offense being very average the last 2 years….it doesn’t make sense.

What grind my gears is that defenses can force the MVP QB into INTs but our defense cant do the same to a below average, 2nd year QB. No ball hawks. No play makers. 2 picks vs the teams they have faced is terrible. Same # Dallas’ abysmal D has.

I see what you’re saying. This Sunday will be the first time their top 3 receivers are on the field at the same time since they were acquired last offseason. I can see KC’s passing game improving. Their run game is a weakness imo.

Reading between the lines of the postgame pressers, the prevailing theory inside OBD seems to be that Josh got rattled by the Falcons' stunts and pressures at the beginning of the game and it affected him throughout.  McD on Tuesday basically said "that's exactly what we try to do to the other teams' QBs - throw them off early and then it affects them the whole game."  I.e., that Allen lost confidence in his line and his ability to understand the pressure concepts moreso than in his WRs.  Not saying this is true or false just that it seems to be the narrative that's being put out there.

This is correct but the fact that Brady did almost nothing to counteract the non stop blitzing with screens or draws was ridiculous. And on all those blitzes, how did the receiving corps not get open ?

Yeah I'd like to know why we have a couple games a year where exotic blitzes confound our offensive line and the whole offense falls into a rut, while our blitzes are seemingly always easily picked up and any decent offense has its way with us. Our one and only "wrinkle" is we put 6-7 guys on the line, but ooh we don't always send them all. Yeah that will fool 'em. Meanwhile every Atlanta blitz looked completely different from the rest.

And it's not like Atlanta's defense is uber talented. Don't get me wrong they have some good players. But for example their #2 CB is Mike Hughes who famously got his lunch taken by Gabe Davis in the 13 seconds game. They don't have any superstars on the DL. You know what they have? Jeff Ullbrich, the same DC that confounded our offense when he was with the Jets and had a top performing defense every year with them. Even top offenses can be forced into bad games by great defensive minds. Why can't we ever, even once, make a top offense look like that? I mean we can't even make Atlanta's mediocre offense look like that so I guess I should lower my ask, but man it's frustrating.

Look, the Allen that went crazy last season in a 4 game stretch vs KC, SF, LAR and Det did not lose his skills in one offseason.  Maybe it was because Dion and the Oline were openly trying to get him the MVP? and Allen himself put pressure on himself to make plays and limit mistakes. But whatever it was, they were an exciting and aggressive group last season.

So far this year the Oline seems less aggressive, they are struggling with some pass blocking protections, and Josh is not bailing everyone out with spectacular runs and throwing on the run.  Hopefully they break all that down in the bye week and get back to playing like they are capable.

It’s insane, Ty Johnson,  the 2nd best hands on the team (behind Shakir) has two receptions on the season.  I don’t know who to entirely blame for that but i assume its Brady, and game scripts not working out to target him.

I have a feeling Josh wanted Diggs gone.  And he picked Keon.  So here we are.

Despite a disastrous first half that was a toe away from a 21 point deficit, the Bills were still in the game. After cutting the deficit to 7, the Buffalo offense had three drives fail. James Cook on the sidelines on third down. McDermott needed to go for it on fourth down, instead he trusts his defense more. Same old sh’t. Instead of trusting the best player in the league, he trusts his failed defense. Why not pass to James cook as buttress against the blitz. Our receivers play all over the field. Why not play Shakir outside and Coleman inside, to open things up? Take it to the defense, why always be reactive? I swear Brady gets mental constipation when the offense stumbles. Josh’s play didn’t doom the bills, poor coaching did. Brady called a brain dead game and McD played scared.

Kubiak is always a big Josh supporter, but the gist of the story is he sucked Monday night.  Poor reads, poor execution and hero ball plagued him all night.  He did not see open receivers, and refused to take what the defense was giving.  He made poor throws and made poor decisions in taking off and running rather than pass to open guys.

It happens.  Josh is too good not to rebound, but this team has a very tough time when he is subpar.  In the second quarter, he only got 60% in the do Your Job QB rating system, the only time in years he got a failing grade.

Story is behind BN paywall.

One of the Sacks he took is when blitz came from the Left Side and he was looking right.. Saw blitz late and spun into the sack.. Had he simply thrown into the blitz he had I believe Coleman in the left flat with no one around... Seems like the receivers read the blitz on that play but Josh did not.

Well if that's the case then Josh screwed up. Josh needs speed and playmaking. He desperately needs someone who can stretch the field like Olave.  Coleman's skillset diminishes with each week.

Pretty sure Diggs admitted he stirred stuff up to get out.  Maybe he felt uncomfortable in the locker room but i believe he orchestrated his was out and the culture guys, McBeane, were more than welcome to oblige.

Apparently you can support Josh til the end of days but are unable to critique him by some people when he’s actually had a bad game.

Josh was not great.

But the disconnect between the two posting groups is that some of us think that Allen played poorly in part due to the porous line and non-stop pressure he was under.

Even Tom Brady looked bad in games where he was under nonstop pressure. It gets to a QB.

This is so true.  I mean we get home once in a blue moon with a blitz.

But glad to hear it isn’t just me that thinks our blitzes look like a high school design and almost never disrupt let alone get home.
