Two weeks in a row we ran a complicated Jet Sweep with JAGs,both times fumbled. We can’t scheme WR matchups, too little play action, abandons run. I'm starting to think so , He doesn't utilize what he has to their strengths ! No Cook in the passing game and actually using him to much this year I think because oi the contract & Ty being a great back is under utilized in certain situations along with Davis . Knox most of last year was forgotten & this year the same he is a weapon & Hawes has shown he too can be used more then not, Samuel needs to get some go routes if he's the speed guy I've only seen 1 long ball this year but have seen long ball opportunities against the Pats but Josh hasn't seen them . I'm thinking maybe like Bass the marriage blues have infiltrated Josh and his vision has been impaired . But Brady definitely needs to look at rethinking his strategy when it comes to what he has in his arcinavl when It comes to personal . Edited 10 hours ago by T master Quote

Last season, they call a tush push without hesitation. This year, it's like they absolutely refuse to run it because McD came out against it. Edited 10 hours ago by Billz4ever Quote
Dr.Sack Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Beane drafting zero 1st round WRs, is what is holding us back. Joe Brady looked good in 2019 at LSU with Burrow, Chase & Jefferson. 2 1 Quote
billieve420 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Lack of rhythm in the passing game has been an issue since Brady has taken over. They came out early and started incorporating more play action which was nice to finally see. With guys struggling to get off man coverage need to find creative ways to get guys open. Plus no idea why we don't incorporate the RBs more in the passing game as those are some of the best playmakers we have. They did that 1 drive in the 2nd half where we drive down field and score easily. Mahomes consistently checks down to the RB and takes the easy play. Offense is too reliant on Allen to make plays off schedule some of which I attribute to the QB and talent around him. However, it seems there are never easy plays to be made in this offense and everything is a struggle if the run game isn't effective. Quote
YodaMan79 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I remember hearing something about Jimmy's and Joe's vs X's and O's. Or, was it chicken salad and chicken excrement? Quote

I agree to a point not sure why they hare not doing what made them so successful last season but it seems as though they have went away from most all that they did do last year and it makes NO sense what so ever . Even if your not going to use the Tush Push because of the huge possibility of injuring your franchise QB Josh himself said Ty Johnson is "The Best 3rd Down Back in the League" & you do a jet sweep on that call ???? Makes NO sense as I said !! 1 Quote

They basically brought him in to block for the 4Q and kept Cook off the field even though they were only down one score and Cook was averaging over 5 yards a carry. 1 Quote
billsfan89 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago There's some issues with playcalling but I think largely the issue is the same as it was in early 2024 teams are daring the WR's to beat them on the outside. Teams are loading up boxes and playing single high. They are basically trying to take away the ground game and over the middle. Leaving the WR's on an island on the outside and taking the chance their corners won't be beat. Last year this team was 3-2 and even though they won to go 4-2 it was a very narrow margins win against the Jets. They ended up trading for Amari Cooper and it turned the offense into an elite unit. If I am McBeane I am aiming to make get a WR. Call up the Saints for Olave or Saheed would be my move. Add that and see if you could also maybe add a corner or safety to the defense nothing major but a decent player there could also be the mental shot in the arm the defense needs. 1 Quote
KOKBILLS Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I think it's more play calling than schematics... Though I'm not thrilled with either... I do think he has them woefully unprepared at times when he's thrown a curveball... The lack of counters is mind numbing... Quote
Andrew Son Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) I know Josh is great and the only reason the Bills have any chance at success. But stylistically he has to be very difficult for an OC to handle. IMO Josh is never going to be a guy who just goes out there and flawlessly executes a scheme as called. He simply prefers to play off schedule and create. People get all exited about the hurdles, flicks, and other backyard plays- but I get most excited when the back foot hits and the ball is out on time within the structure of the offense. Or when the pressure is diagnosed and beaten with his mind getting them into the right play. There have been flashes of this at times, but too often he reverts to this "cue the circus music" style and looks for the first excuse to bail from the pocket. I like what Brady has done with the run game, and I think that going heavy- and committing to it more- is our best chance at success as currently constructed. Edited 9 hours ago by Andrew Son Quote

I think this is the main issue the Bills don't have an outside WR that can get open consistently. This is exactly what happened in 2024 in the first 6 weeks. The team has lackluster outside WR's and defenses are running single high safety looks to load the box to stop the run, take away the middle of the field passing wise, and give the outside WR's one on one matchups with the outside of the boundaries open. This means that if you don't have WR's that can win those one on one matchups or at least command respect in those matchups you are going to struggle on offense. It's not that hard to see that's something you can't scheme your way out of. They need a WR by the trade deadline you have two plus weeks to get that done... Quote

Where is Cook on 3rd down? Their RB caught 6 balls for like 75 yards. He wasn't on the field for any 3rd downs. Johnson is better at blitz pickup so we took our second biggest threat on offense off the table. Quote

Also down 7 we just, abandoned our running attack, and continued to try and create down field passing opportunities against a team that was blitzing constantly. The screen to davis was a great call. We don't run another screen the rest of the game. 1 Quote
TBBills Fan Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago There are some head scratchers for sure Not using cook in the 4th Going with the gimmick play that fumbled last week AGAIN when there are better options We pretty much went 1 WR (Coleman) 1RB and 1 FB as if to say we have no confidence in Moore, Shavers and this took Shakir off the field a lot. Tampa is missing all their receivers but still slinging it Quote
Walking Tall Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Cook: 5 targets, 5 catches for 58 yards in the Baltimore game. The next three weeks….8 targets, 7 catches for 31 yards. The last two weeks….1 target, 0 catches, 0 yards and an 0-2 record with those games being the worst offensive performances of the season. Draw your own conclusions. 1 Quote

Mine is that Allen has played poorly the last 2 weeks. 1 Quote
