Is Joe Brady the main issue on offense?

Joe has a pathetic short yardage playbook.  I’m sick of his “cute” offense.  Two weeks in a row we ran a complicated Jet Sweep with JAGs,both times fumbled.  We can’t scheme WR matchups, too little play action, abandons run.

Other teams seem to have guys schemed wide open When Josh drops back he seems to have to look everywhere. Where is Cook on 3rd down? Their RB caught 6 balls for like 75 yards.

You're at 4th and 1, you have a genius scrambler at QB, an RB you just signed to a huge contract, an OL that has been good all season long, plus you have a hot prospect at blocking TE and you've dedicated a roster spot to a FB.  

 

This is a perfect situation to run a jet sweep with a 4th string WR or better yet a TE and fumble the ball.  At least if you're going to call a play like that, make it look like you've run it once or twice in practice.

He certainly is “AN” issue. His play calling has been abysmal (especially in short yardage).

 

With that being said, no, he isn’t “the biggest issue.” That is the lack of wide receivers. You can’t run an offense if guys can’t get open. Teams are currently sending rushers and leaving the CBs to blanket the trash he has to work with. The Bills are WAY too easy to defend and it’s not because of scheme. His hands are tied behind his back with the pass catchers he has to work with.

Fair. It’s a little chicken and egg to me. Was that his idea or was it his response to a garbage WR room?

I think the secondary having like 5 pass break ups in 6 games is the much bigger elephant in the room. 

 

His playcalling wasn’t good, but the defense gave up 300+ yards in a half. This is all on our HC.

I think that was more on Beane not getting quality weapons and having to spread it around.

No doubt. He hasn’t done a good job (at all). He should have thrown to the backs all night last night. Lol, that holds especially true when you bet Cook 3+ receptions and 25+ yards. 🤣🤣

I genuinely want to know how this play was called two games in a row.  I can’t see McD approving of such a call.

 

anyway I am gonna put some of this on Allen.  When I played QB, many years ago, I would change the play in the huddle when a terrible call like that came in.  Allen needs to be a leader and veto some of this idiocy

Does anyone think Peyton Manning would deal with this crap? I remember Peyton waving the punt team off the field and making the call to go for it.  The HC just took it “well ok Peyton you’re the boss”. 
 

Allen needs to do that.

 

when you get a jet sweep on 4th and 1 with the game on the line and no cook, you call timeout, you jog to sideline, you yell at the idiot staff and tell him to put cook in and call a run play to cook.

Before Brady arrived, Beane went out and got Diggs, Beasley, Sanders, etc. They were active in recruiting WR’s.

 

After Brady, Beane is comfortable running with Coleman and Palmer.

 

There is no doubt in my mind that they are running with Brady’s “everybody eats” mentality.

I am not sure but I went back and looked at a couple of threads from last year at this same time after the Houston game.

 

Where the Bills had just got their butt kicked by Baltimore 35-10 and then lost to Houston and Allen was 9-30 passing or whatever it was.

 

People complaining about the exact same thing at that time as they are now. 
Nobody is getting open. 
Joe Brady sucks. 
Some people blaming Allen, some blaming Brady, some blaming Beane or McDermott.

 

 

Exact same scenarios. Bills went out and got Cooper after that and the offense opened up. Just from his presence on the field. 
 

I do think it looked like the Bills wanted to go downfield more last night to Palmer but then he got hurt and after that, with no Kincaid as well, the Bills offense looked bad.
Before Palmer got hurt though they were moving the ball and Palmer had just got a first down for about 10 yards on that throw he was injured.

 

Not sure if they need to go get someone else now or if Palmer and Kincaid will be well enough to play.

 

Guess my point is that this all is the exact same thing that happened last year at this exact time then the Bills went on a run and got to the AFC championship game. 
 

Have to have guys available to play though. If the Bills keep having so many injuries on both sides of the ball it won’t matter what Beane or McDermott or Brady does because they can’t fill every hole if everyone keeps getting hurt. Problem is Bills always seem to have massive injuries on usually the defensive side of the ball at playoff time. 
 

Bills have looked a little off all year though.
