Why are we clipping the wings of Josh Allen ? The Bills looked more afraid of Drake Maye last night than the other way around. Maybe this should be on Beane more so than Brady. Take a good look at the Bills offense. Great QB and RB. Good OL but average to slightly above average WR's. At the skill positions on offense the only players opposing teams really worry about are Allen and Cook. Quote

However, in no universe does he get fired after the season imo, so it’s irrelevant to even talk about. No way Pegula will fire him and Beane. Look at the Sabres. Agree. 1 Quote

What was his answer to our woes during the halftime interview last night? "Complimentary football". He doesn't want a high-octane passing attack. He wants ball control. He wants his offense to play defense. Frankly with this group of wide-outs he might not be entirely wrong. We saw multiple times last night that once this offense gets backed up due to penalty, negative play, etc. they don't have an easy way to get yards on command. It's all on Josh to make a special play in those situations. 2 Quote

There was a 3rd down play late in the game where Josh was scrambling back there trying to find the open guy and none of the receivers made their way back to the ball like they are normally supposed to do on off-scripted plays. That’s on coaching. 2 Quote

Brady’s boss requires an offense designed to help the defense. They don’t want to score too fast. Quote

I don’t think McDermott is elite by any means and I’ve been critical of a lot of his decision making throughout his tenure. But take a look at this defensive backfield. When you’re forced to put Tredavious White on the field … AS YOUR BEST OPTION … Your GM has failed miserably. This list of that caliber players is far too long for this to be a Super Bowl contending team. That’s not McDermott’s fault. I am starting to feel this way too. White being back there is inexcusable. As is the continued reliance on other old and injury prone players. A HC can only do so much with what he has. They were able to get turnovers off QB's who are absolute garbage. So they aren't historically bad. But last night when we needed them most, they got shredded in the 4th quarter by a QB who is actually good. Just imagine what teams like KC, Philadelphia, Bucs, and possibly Texans will do. 1 Quote
Pecker Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Let’s trade babich and Keon Coleman for Jim Schwartz. Then draft/sign an actual nfl caliber WR. Then I’d be fine keeping McD. It’s impossible for fans to know how much control McD has over the roster, but I place most of this on Beane. The roster just isn’t that good outside of Allen, and we have no cap space, figure that one out! and we miss on too many difference makers in the draft (Coleman over Cooper Dejean for example) Quote

That’s on coaching. It's also on talent. Keon on the first of those plays tried to separate by faking going deep and coming back and the DB was all over it. Hence he then reverted to just run to the back of the endzone. He struggles so much to separate. He isn't sudden enough and he isn't nuanced enough. 1 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Yeah, yeah, yeah….look at the stat line. Maye and Allen had the EXACT SAME stat line for virtually the exact same yardage 22-30 completions. But…Josh’s 31st attempt was a pick in the red zone and Maye didn’t throw one. That one bad throw cost the Bills the game or everyone would be looking at the lone remaining team at 5-0 this morning. He created a running game, but not to make the Bills more explosive in other areas. They want to run it so they can play ball-control offense and keep it close until the end so they can win it by a FG instead of blowing teams out of the water like they should be doing. Quote
Gregg Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 8 hours ago, Draconator said: This is an honest question. If the Bills fire McDermott? Who would you hire to get the Bills over the hump and into the Superbowl? Not any coach currently coaching another team college or pro. Those coaches who are unemployed, who would you hire? Bill. He has an opt out in his contract at UNC if he wants to get back into the NFL. Bill with Josh = Super Bowl championship. Just don't let him pick the players. He sucks as a GM, but he can coach, and he would build a stronger defense than McDermott has. Bill with an elite level QB = 9 Super Bowl appearances with 6 Championships. Sean with an elite level QB = Zero, zip, nada, in his 9th season. Quote
DrDawkinstein Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I was banging the table for Vrabel back when he was available. Jim Harbaugh should have been considered. Plenty of folks here were talking about Sean Payton when he was available. I'm not as big on the Belichick idea but any change is better than running into the same damn wall of being flat and unprepared for big games. People can try to blame individual players for all the mistakes, and some of it is on them, but there is a big issue with "fundamentals" that is plaguing this team. The fundamentals of basic open field tackling. The fundamentals of lining up correctly (across multiple phases. we got one on Special Teams right after we got on on Offense) The fundamentals of coverage and turning around for the ball because you are going to get flagged every time with your back to the ball. The Pats have a Championship caliber coach who coached up his Wild Card talent team The Bills have a Wild Card caliber coach whose Championship caliber team played down to their opponent. I'm done excusing it. Sure, we're still 4-1. Still lead the division. Will still likely win the division. Yay. Cant wait to be bitterly disappointed in the playoffs as I watch this jabroni clap his way through wasting Josh's career. 1 1 Quote
Since1981 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago A new face with new ideas and new challenges. it may be as simple as that. Not much different than any org. 8 yrs later. This defensive HC certainly hasn’t shown us any innovation. I’m calling bullshlt on scoring too fast strategy. Quote
Augie Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 22 minutes ago, Gregg said: Disagree on the uniforms. Those look good. Penn State should take notes from the Bills on how to do a white out. Fans wear white and the team wears white. Nothing says white out like a Penn State white out where the fans where white and the teams runs onto the field in their home dark blue jerseys. If they had worn Buffalo Bills helmets, we would have won. Instead we sold some extra gear and made some more money. 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago 1 hour ago, Ethan in Cleveland said: As perhaps the founding member of the anti-McDermott crowd, even I'm going to say this was more on the players. Pretty sure Palmer has been coached to line up correctly. He just didnt do it. Josh threw into double coverage not McDermott. And who else is he going to play at CB#2. I was laughed at when Douglas was still available and I suggested bringing him back. He was never as bad last year as White is now. Same for Cooper. He made more plays in limited action last year than Shavers will his entire career. And for the it will be better when Hairston comes back crowd, please remember he wasn't beating out White in OTAs or training camp. Ok last points. Beane's extensions are really mixed right now. Shakir is not getting enough targets. Rousseau has been terrible. Benford hasn't made a play all year. Bernard has been up and down. Only Cook and Brown have played well with the new contracts. Palmer has been gross too as a free agent signing. I agree with all this although if you watched the Dolphins game yesterday Douglas is just as washed as Tre. Quote

He also seems distracted with his GF. Those are my main two concerns. But....he is also a HC who has outcoached Reid several times. Including the postseason. And he has the championship experience. He did suck without a generational type QB. But that won't be an issue here. So after typing all of that, I'm in favor!!! 1 Quote

I think the only reason he couldn't get another HC job in the NFL was he wanted control of the whole thing being a GM/HC type. Picking the players was his downfall with NE but the man can coach. DrDawkinstein Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago To answer @Draconator's question, tough to tell right now without knowing who all is available, but if pressed for a name today I'd say Joe Brady. Just promote him to keep him and the Offense consistent, and have him hire an experienced former-HC Defensive Coordinator. 1 Quote
